HI EVERYBODY!!

So, here I am, completely stuck on where to have our reception.

So far here is what we're aiming for:

December 7, 2009

WP......yep, that's about all folks. lol

We were thinking of having our reception at Narcoossee's, but I'm not really sure how the setup there is. Does anyone happen to have any pictures of a reception held there? I like the idea of a less formal/ more casual reception, as we're having under 30 guests, but I don't want it to be too casual, or even non-functional. What kind of music choices would we have here?

My next consideration would be the White Hall room and patio.....but I honestly have no idea which would be best, or rather, which would satisfy all our needs and give us the most "bang" for our buck. (or does it really not matter?? :confused3 )

I'm up for all considerations and would love to see everyone's reception photos. ;)

Here are my thoughts:

Since I wanted a WP ceremony, I thought I might be able to save some dough by having the reception nearby, but now I'm not sure. I want something romantic that might have a hint of "a little something different" to it. Do you think the restaurant would be a good choice, or do you think we should be looking elsewhere? We're not going for too fancy, as we'll be having a party/ reception when we return back home.

Oh man! I need to stop before I run out of breath.

HELP ME!! I'M DROWNING IN MY OWN THOUGHTS! :rotfl:

You want the Attic. There: problem solved!!

...Kidding! But I do recommend it. We also wanted something informal and intimate, so our guests could mingle or just hang out. We didn't have a DJ and there's no dancefloor, but we did have ceremonial first dances on the terrace. I set up playlists on my iPod and a friend cued them up or just let them run - the sound system rental was about $250. You could also have musicians.

The thing about Grand Floridian reception locations is that they have a higher food and beverage minimum....

I wasn't crazy about the granny cottage/shabby chic decor of the Attic in pix, but in person all you notice is the amazing view, the wonderful light, and the shiny, shiny floors... :rotfl:

(P.S. I live in Disneyland too! :lmao: )

Hello and congrats!! I'm also getting married at the WP next year too!! We are planning on having a 5:00 ceremony and then dinner at the Napa room of the California Grill. From what I hear, it has a pretty good view of the wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom! That's why I picked it! I've only seen it in pictures, and it looks really nice! I'm also having around 30 people, and I think the room holds up to 50, so the size will fit you better than a big ballroom. Plus, I think it's as close as you can get to the WP without being at the GF (with the $125 per person minimum). They also have another room that overlooks the lake that I think holds 40 people.

I was also thinking of The Attic, as Lurkyloo said! It seems like a really cool, chill kinda place.

My coordinator also suggested to me Ariel's. I don't know much about it, but I think it was bigger than The Attic and the Napa Room, and I didn't want my guests to feel "lost".

Thank you so much!!! :worship:

I've been reading all your posts and looking at all your photos (eesh, that almost sounds stalker-like) haha! Anywho, everything you did was gorgeous!! We've talked about an Epcot ceremony, but I'm pretty sure we're definitely sold on the WP. I've been curious about the Attic, and since seeing your pictures, I definitely wanted your personal opinion on the place cause, honestly, like you said, the pictures of the place don't really thrill me much.

Since we're trying to keep as close to the $10,000 minimum as possible and would still like to incorporate some decorating, what are some of your suggestions? Did you have any "formal" tables set up, or can you not do that there? ...Also, I noticed the tables on the balcony...do they, or can they, decorate those?

As you may have noticed, I'm taking your word for it...based on everything I've read and seen, I'm coming to you for answers! :goodvibes

P.S. - We were acutally going to do the whole Disneyland thing, but we always go to Disney World for our Christmas vacation and decided just to incorporate both grand times into one. Plus, it's going to be a load of fun for the people who have never been. FUN FOR EVERYONE! :woohoo:

THANKS ANGELA!

I'm now heading straight to my browser to research that one a little more too!! ;)

::sigh:: one would actually think that having this many places to choose from would be a good thing lol yet here I am so, so lost. :rotfl:

Hi! Congrats on your wedding! We are having our reception (wishes wedding) at Narcoossee- 33 guests. We choose it because we did not want a ballroom wedding or most of the traditional wedding elements. Narcoossee has a fantastic view inside and outside space. our ceremony is in epcot and we thought it would be great to have the reception some where different- more pictures, different feel.

Be happy to share any of our other plans/pictures if you like!

I am definitely interested in all your plans!! I love reading about all the different places/tastes/styles/settings that people choose. Since, you're doing the Narcoossee's bit, do you have any info on decor/setup? Luckily, I'm familiar with the restaurant itself, just not so sure on how they conduct the receptions. Any input is good input!...much appreciated input as well!!:thumbsup2

We are having our prereception in the bar area, we are using our violinist from the ceremony.

They didn't have many pix of Narcoossee set up- one that we did see was someone brought in round tables and full linens- so I guess decore is up to you-sky is the limit.
We are using the tables as you walk in to put the cake/placecards
we are setting up the guest tables against the windows- right now we are thinking 4 tables of 8-10. These will be in the middle of the restaurant, we are putting our "head table" on the bar side facing towards the guests and the lagoon. We are having kids at the reception so the older ones will have their own table(lollipop centerpiece and confetti on the table) we are also setting up tables around towards the back door with craft paper and small toys/crayons etc. for the kids.

As far as decoration-like I said I think they would do just about anything you like- we choose white linen our centerpieces will be 3 sizes of square vases with pink peonies, pink roses and champagne roses with pink petals down the center of the tables. you can upgrade napkins/linens to colors if you like.

We are not doing dancing- still debating on using the "house music" or and ipod setup and doing our own music.

We are doing a sit down meal.

Right now thats all I can think of- let me know if I missed something!
I have lots of pictures of the restaurant if you need them.:)

That sounds beautiful!! I love the idea of a kids' table, however we only have one of those in our group...poor little guy

We still haven't decided if we're going to do dancing, or not, however, we do know that we want music.....so we may just have to go with the ipod setup.

Would you happen to know if the "default" linens are considered to be what they post on disneyweddings.com for the GF?

If you have a sec, I would like to see the photos that you have. The only ones I've seen are the 3 different recycled ones you tend to see all over the internet....so, any other ones showing a different perspective of the restaurant would be a tremendous help to me!

Originally, my first reception choice was the Napa Room but I will possibly have 35-40 people and there wouldn't be room for a dance floor there if I had more than 30 people. We are now having the reception at the White hall Room. I am getting married in the Wedding Pavilion so there isn't far to travel and it has a nice patio. The cocktail hour will be held on the patio and the room is going to have two tables of ten on each side of the dance floor, a sweetheart table, and a children's table pushed against one of the walls. I have seen it set up with a piano in the middle of the room or a long banquet table in the middle.

I love the idea of this room because it's still intimate, has the nice patio, and I don't have to have an early reception. Since we haven't decided on a time of day yet, this is one of my choices for an evening reception. Let's just see how money becomes a factor.

Do you have any pictures you derived inspiration from? I wish I lived closer so that it would be easier for me to go and take a look. haha

I guess our sweetheart table was the only formal table... They don't let you bring in other furniture, so we just used the existing tables and chairs - including the ones on the balcony. They put white linens on all of the tables for free.

Disney can decorate anything you want. We decided the Attic was decorated enough, so we cut out all the centerpieces when we got our first BEO. One idea I had when I was still trying to figure out how to do centerpieces cheaply was these Martha Stewart paper-flower ones. They're only about $25 each, compared to the $100+ Disney wanted for real ones.

I think I'm gonna have DF Photoshop them into our one shot of the bare tables... :rotfl:

You can also save money by doing candles, bowls of fruit, or piles of your favors - or just putting centerpieces on half the tables and doing bud vases on the rest. The tables at the Attic are 4-tops, so there's not a lot of room for anything elaborate, luckily...

here are some Narcoossee pix!

Hi, you are planning to have yours 2 days before ours! We are hoping for 9th December 2009 at SBP and then lunch at the GFC or Kona Cafe. There will only be 11 of us (we have no friends lol) so we are having an Escape wedding.

If you do get the 7th I might just have to stalk you on the day and have a nose!

Those are some great pictures of Narcoossee's!! THANKS!

I'm workin' on getting some pictures together of flowers, decor, etc. ... I'll be posting those real soon (my computer crashed and I lost my cake!! =( I think I'm going to cry because i have NO idea where I found it. lol)

I don't have any good pictures of the room because when I was there they were setting up tables and DJ equipment and stuff so my planner said he would email me some. When I get them I could post them or email them to you, you could send me a PM. I should be getting my budget in a couple of weeks so I can let you know how that goes as well.

YAYY!!! Here are some of my inspiration pics! :woohoo:
