I wish I had done so sooner. Made our reservation several months ago for POR 10/13-10/17. Stated several times that I would need a roll-in shower. CM talked to Special Needs and was able to accomodate my needs. I even read back the particulars of my ressie to the CM and all was well.
My e-mail confirmation stated GTD accessible medical reasons. I've never called back prior to arrival before and have never had a problem.
For some reason I decided to call this morning to make sure. My CM, Brad, called special needs to verify. He was gone a long time and when he returned he informed me that there was not a POR room with roll-in shower available.:scared1: There was one available at French Quarter. I have no real problem with POFQ but asked him to see if an accomodating room was available at CS or CBR. Nope. I took the POFQ room.
I'm not all tore up about this just glad I called. It would have been most unpleasant if I'd arrived and there was no availability at any moderate resort. It's my own fault.
I've learned a valuable lesson. My worry wart mode is in high gear now. Should I call again just to make sure?

and I have CM state what's on the reservations at least once after making them. In my case, sometimes there's not even enough room for all the requests to show up on the confirmation notice.

If there's an error I will check again in a few days to make sure it was indeed corrected. I rather do some extra homework upfront and not have any hassles once we are there.

I called again to verify new ressie as it had the same wording as the original. After the CM verified with Special Reservations she told me that my confirmation might not specifically state roll-in shower. I bet my original POR ressie was indeed a roll-in shower room and the CM misunderstood me and checked to see if there was availability. What the heck, if that's the worst thing that happens all day it will be a very good thing!

Have a WONDERFUL time! I love POFQ and have stayed there the night before I check into DVC.

When we still needed roll-in showers (before DH had his 2nd knee replacement surgery), we started having lots of problems with special needs when they quit letting the guest talk to them directly.

Reservations used to transfer you to special needs, now they put you on hold and talk to them and come back.

The direct number for special needs is in the FAQ for this board. If you have any doubts about your room, call special needs directly.

We quit bothering with accesible rooms now that DH can get his leg over a tub again. Plus we stay in the campground more often and all of the showers in the comfort station are walk-in :-)

Returned from POFQ on Sunday and all was well. The room, 3105, was very nice and easy to navigate. The resort is lovely and the stroll over to POR is pleasant. Technically I was rolling but my strolling daughter enjoyed it enough to suggest we do it several times. The boat ride to DD is relaxing and much easier on my family than slinging my scooter in and out of the car.
Can not wait to return:thumbsup2
