Hi,

Have some last minute vacation time available and HH is booked last week of year. Does anyone know of similar quality accomodations in the area, i.e, 1 BR.

Thanks

Well, you could try www.vrbo.com. It's stands for "vacation rentals by owner" and it's a site where owners can rent their condos out. We used it to rent a week in Palmetto Dunes on our first trip to Hilton Head. It's not the same as staying at a resort, but there's some really nice places on the island that are able to rented this way.

There is availability through II for 20-27 December and it may be possible to get other dates. You'll have to give up adventure for a full week but might be able to get it for less than the points for the unit size. Under the old system it would have been studio points at less than 60 days, not sure with the changes last winter how that would fit in.

For many years prior to the Disney HH resort, we rented homes at HH for our spring break trips from Coastal Villa Rentals.. They have a great variety of locations and home types available. We enjoyed the Sea Pines locations, but there are many great HH areas.

Enjoy!

Now that you mention it, Doc, it was actually Coastal that we rented from, not VRBO. We used VRBO in Sanibel one year. Coastal found us a nice place at a reasonable price. It was all professionally handled, too.

In fact we sort of considered buying a condo on HHI of our own and renting out. Of course, we consider something like that after nearly every good trip but we never act on it.

I see this is post #777 for me. I'm going to Vegas after Christmas, and maybe it's good luck. I'm not posting any more until I get back, just in case.
