Alternate things for autographs?

ive been thinking about getting something for characters to autograph. However I don't particularly care for an autograph book. I like something that can be displayed better :)
What different things have you guys done? I love the idea of a picture frame but feel like that might be tough to lug around the park.

I've seen plates, stuffed toys, tote bags, shirts and as you mentioned, frames.

You could also have them sign one bigger piece, and scan it (or scan in individual autographs), and then make something like a mug, or pillow, stainless travel mugs, and even blankets or quilts. I have made a few different photo products through shutterfly. All came out great.

That's a really cool idea!

This is not necessarily displayable, but we had the characters sign their pictures in a Disney Character Encyclopedia.

Last year we did a photo mat, it came out cute. It's now in our living room displayed with a nice family photo.

Was that annoying to carry around? Cuz I love that idea but I usually just bring a small drawstring backpack but I probably would have to bring something else to carry something like that.

When my kids were younger we did light colored Disney baseball caps signed with sharpies. They loved wearing the hat in the parks and after the trip at home; there was no fumbling around for autograph books and they are still hanging on their wall to this day - 10+ years later.

We just shoved it under the stroller so for us it wasn't a big deal, but I could see it getting annoying.

We did a tote bag for each of the girls on our cruise and I love the way it turned out. And it's something that they can actually use.

We've done pillowcases before, but we haven't actually used them.

One of my favorites was a Shutterfly book that had pics from our previous trips and we had the characters sign their specific page. I really like how that turned out.

I'm with you on the picture mat... I love the idea of it but carrying it around seems like a nuisance.

if you use an autograph book or a small book or pad of some sort you can then use the pages to create something when you get back. You could decoupage a frame, create a collage with the pictures and autograph, use a photoshop type program to add the scanned autograph to the picture of the character. I bought the kids some dollar store pads/books this year, but in the past have used small scrapbooking books - I am talking 4X6 size or smaller.

Story...we were in line waiting for Stitch and the family in front of us had him signing SIX different t-shirts. While I was in such a good mood and having such a magical day, around about t-shirt four I was starting to feel like this was a bit much to ask of each character. The people weren't wearing the shirts...which seems like it would have made them easier to sign. Just trying to lay them out someplace so they could be signed or finally just putting it over someone's back...it was just becoming painful. Again, I didn't go over the edge and let it ruin my day. I am all about having them sign stuff but again....just sharing the story. :)

Anyway, my brother-in-law made an autograph book for my daughter with a photograph of her from Halloween dressed up Anna. It got lots of attention from various characters and CM's. If you can manage the photo mat then I say do that one. I may steal that for our next trip too!

I have read that they are not allowed to sign the shirt if it's on you. I would imagine they would not want to be accused of inappropriate touching.

On my upcoming trip I am going to get the Mickey pants sundae and have the characters sign the container once I've cleaned it. It'll look cute sitting on my desk at school.

We do the autograph book but what we do is make sure you only get ONE autograph per page (nothing on the back). Then we take a pic with the character. Then we tear out the autograph and frame it along with the picture. You can do a collage of all the autographs you got on your trip or do small individual ones. The book is the easiest and smallest thing I've found.

Yep, no autographs with shirt on. Had to buy another shirt and have her change on her 7th birthday (9 years ago). Then, she left the shirt with all the princesses autographs in the AAA story time. She had tucked it and her hat and some other things in the tube they had given us with the lithograph from CRT and left the whole thing behind. When we realized, the park was closing so I stayed behind to deal with lost and found and wait around. Husband took the kids to the resort. Low and behold, by the magical pixie dust that only Disney has, her stuff was waiting in our room when she got there along with a AAA duffle bag, a birthday card, and a stuffed animal. AAA rocks!! I am sure it would have been lost in the bowels of Disney forever if they had just sent it to lost and found. That shirt was her prized possession for years. I had to sharpie over the autographs several times since they kept wearing off in the wash.

The embroidery hoop might be a good idea for anyone doing a tshirt as well. I will have to think about that. Anna and Elsa and my girls created quite a production trying to sign the shirts.
