Also on Board the Magic...taking questions

I was also upset to hear that Que left...we cruised with him several times and always enjoyed him....I was even planning on brining him some gifts as the poster did when we sail the repo in August!!!

I wish him all the best and hope all is well. Good for him if did indeed get a promotion...would love to know what ship he went to!!!

I wish the poster was incorrect!!! We will have to see if we can get some more info!!!

I'm going up to the spa shortly, so I'll check on the rusul bath. You know, I haven't cruised DCL for a couple of years, and I've yet to comment on a few minor changes that I love. First, free sodas rock! I'm sure this is old news, but after 4 cruises without, it's sure nice. Next, I really like the purel dispensers at the front of each restaurant. Next, I like the plasma screens on the wall in the Atrium that tell you what characters are coming out, where and when...an extra convenience. The sports bar is quite comfortable; I don't miss the noisy, smokey ESPN club. On the other hand, I miss the dueling pianos greatly.

Last night (Sunday) was formal night. We were in AP. Everyone looked fabulous, including yours truly. I agree that Gary Delena ain't that funny, and he's the headliner tonight. Enough already. On the other hand, Freddy Fusion was funny...sorta nuts, funny. He's got a family show, and a cabaret show for adults tonight. Today is a pool, sunning day. I'll check in again after dinner.

Just wanted to let you know i'm checking in and thanks for your help.

Yeah, if anyone finds out what ship he went to let me know, thanks

Mhelsey, I forgot to look for coloring books last night, but I'll try when we leave port, assuming they'll open the stores for a bit then.

Whoever asked - the rusul bath is still available and is $83.

Well, we woke this morning while the ship was pulling into the PV harbor. Took a while to get docked, and the sun came up during the process...pretty nice. We had room service delivered for breakfast, and we had some sandwiches and stuff dropped off last night so we could take them off for snacks...chip, cookies, pb&j. DD and I opted for DCL's Paradise Village excursion, while DW had arranged a birding trip with a local birder. She got over 30 new life birds (that's a lot, if you're a birder). DD and I met at 7:40am in Studio Sea and eventually made our way to a bus that took us to Paradise Village. This was our substitute for our CC beach day. The Village resort is very nice and has two nice pools, excellent grounds, and a primo stretch of beach. One pool with the two biggest slides was closed, as it appeared they were working on a suspension bridge that gave access to the slides. The expected to be finished today, so I don't see that inconveniencing future cruisers. A few people were upset, but there were still plenty of other options. The other pool is made of stone and has a lagoon-look, which is pretty neat. It has a nice slide and a swim-thru tunnel, and a waterfall. We played for a while, then moved to the beach. You can get a kayak or boogie boards just by showing your KTTW card. We got boogie boards and rode waves for about 3 hours, until utter exhaustion set in. The waves were perfect for nice long boogie rides. We had a nice lunch at the beachside kitchen/snack bar. There were parasails everywhere and we had intended to do one, but when I checked the resort was booked for the day. And, the wind really picked up after 1pm and they started shutting them down, so my advice would be to parasail early in the morning before the tradewinds kick up. We swam in the pool some more, and then we got DD's hair braided. $20, the least I've ever paid. DCL's buses left at 12:20, but we weren't done playing so they left w/o us. They had a small zoo with about 20 animals, and after all our other activities, we checked that out, then headed home around 3pm. I don't understand why DCL allows only 3.5 hours at the Village. There is so much to do you could easily spend the whole day. We'd have staid longer, but the boogie boarding had wiped us out. We got a taxi home for $15. Absolutely no wait getting back aboard, although I'm sure if you came back with one of the tour groups you'd encounter the normal lines.

Had a nice steak at PC last night, saw Freddie Fusions funny cabaret show, and went to bed around 11pm. Don't know what we're going to do tonight. The "feature" show is Hitchhiker, and we have no interest in that. They do have the Pirates deck party later on, that should be fun. DW and DD are shopping at the flea market just off the dock, but they're coming back for Family Animation at 5:15pm. We drew Donald yesterday, he's decoarting our cabin door now. More tomorrow. Send questions if you've got 'em.

Yes, this greatly concerns me also. Can someone please confirm whether Que is gone. That would be a major loss to DCL and the Magic specifically.

Thanks,

Jeff

Can you post the details on the bird watching trip? Some friends that are traveling with us on 7/2 are avid bird watchers and may be interested.
Thanks

:) ) DisneyDarwin -

Thank you for the movie list - found you. :)

We are taking the early Paradise Beach Excursion too! Was it warm enough in PV to swim that early? And also...we are thinking we want to stay longer on this excursion too. How difficult was it to not go back with the Disney guides? I do much better with details. Thank you so much :goodvibes

Thx for all the great, detailed posts........have a great trip!! :flower:

It was definitely warm enough. In my opinion it was perfect in the morning, nice and warm but it hadn't gotten to hot yet. I'm not sure about staying longer, you could easily miss the bus and then find your own transporation back, or maybe talk to Disney about staying and catching the afternoon bus back. Although if it's full, they couldn't bump someone else, but they might be able to do it if there is room. :sunny:

On the repo cruise, something happened and Que apparently got caught. Of course, none of us REALLY know what exactly happened but rumors were rampant. Disney does not put up with indiscretions and immediately fires people. He knew the rules and apparently he broke them. It happens all the time. I am amazed to hear what goes on down in the crews quarters, however, those that break the rules and feel that they can get away with it will eventually end up getting caught! DCL has a good reputation and they will not risk losing that reputation with ANYONE, especially a member of the entertainment staff. Has anyone ever wondered why DJ's come and go all the time??? Think about it.

thanks for posting that, and it does happen all the time. Que is a big major loss for DCL and will be missed by people, but on a good side to it now we all might meet someone new because the entertainment staff and DJ's do come and go a lot!! so true

haha I get my yearbook tomorrow, I'm so happy, sry that was way off subject, just want it to compare a teacher in my school to the pic I got of Dougie because they could be like twins

We were in the water before 9am, and the sun wasn't on the pool yet (blocked by a building) and it was NOT cold. Also, the beach water was equally pleasant, not cold at all. I'll have to get my wife to post details about her bird trip. She's got another one lined up in Cabo.

Our tablemates did the Canopy Tour and really enjoyed it. Said it was very safe and a real treat. We also heard from a number of folks that really enjoyed the pirate cruise. The pirate ship sure looks neat, especially at night.

We're back underway now; we pulled out of PV about 9:30pm. The Pirates shindig up on deck 9 was a blast. Lots of characters, tunes, a few neat surprises, and fireworks to boot. They also had quite a spread of food up there, heavy on the desserts, but also fajitas, turkey legs, chili and more. We passed, since we finished dinner less than an hour ago, and even by cruising standards we're still too full to eat again so soon. We get our first hour of sleep back tonight, so for those keeping track that's time change #3.

We're going dancin' so I'll write more tomorrow.

I know that I am going through a bit of denial but can you tell me who your source is? My last moment with him was when he told me what a great family I had and he gave me a big hug. It was August 27, 2004 and the night before the end of our cruise. For me it could not have ended on a greater/sadder note than to say goodbye to Que before leaving. I loved the man like a brother.

:sad2: I don't think there is a sad enough icon at this moment for me.

Melinda...just in case the OP cannot find you a coloring book, they are listed on ebay frequently. You just have to keep checking back. On the ship, they cost $3.25 so you can determine how much you're willing to pay on ebay. Good luck...you can fiind anything on ebay with patience!

Thanks for all the great scoop - we are getting very excited for our first cruise (of any kind!!).
By the time I figured out how to pre-book excursions and Palo everything was sold out. My DD wants to do the Village hotel in PV that you did. Do you think we could just take a taxi out to that hotel and spend a few hours on the beach?? It sounds like alot of the hotel don't mind non-hotel guests on their property - especially if you are buying your food and bev. from them. OR...did Disney give you a wrist bracelet or something that allowed you access??
Thanks for the info!

I'm not going to name names, but it was someone who was in the club and witnessed it going down.

I have seen the ones on ebay one went for over $30.00 and the current one is at $13.00. I'm always checking ebay and this is one of the first times i've found them. I didn't think they cost much and i'm still hoping to get one as i want to make suncatcher for our window on our cruise next year. I'm just sorry i didn't get back to the shop(busy booking the above next cruise)in time. Hopefully he or she or maybe another diser will come through for me.
