What are everyone's favorite items from the Captain Cookes and Kona menus? We will be grabbing a couple quick meals (breakfast and lunch) at Captain Cookes and have one dinner and one breakfast ADR at Kona. So many of the items sound good! What are your favorites for each meal??????????

I'm with CR Resort Fan - the adult grilled cheese is really good at CC's. I also liked the Caesars salad and the stir fried noodles. They have a flatbread pizza there that's good too.

At Kona cafe we've had the Tonga Toast and the Big Kahuna. The Tonga toast is sweet, but very good, and the Big Kahuna had enough food on it for DS17. We mostly eat dinners there though. They have fish with rice on the kids menu and that's good too. :)

We just left the Poly and moved to the GF. We were having some serious room issues.
We had never stayed at the Poly before and we were very excited. But we had no water and no AC and there solution was us wasnt something that worked for us. So we have moved. So far everything is great at the GF!

Fish really? Do you remember what kind? Is it fried?

I found the description on WDWinfo. It's on the lunch/dinner menu.

Grilled Fish of the Day - Served with whole-grain pilaf, veggies, and yogurt parfait. Includes choice of beverage: 1% milk, bottled water or juice. French fries and soft drinks available upon request. - $7.49

DS9 loves it and orders it whenever we eat there. He gives the yogurt parfait to his brother though. ;)

Really?? What happened? No water seems like a HUGE issue...

Yikes! What happened?

Thanks :) I just looked and there is only one 3rd floor room listed as Lagoon View -it's the last room on the right. Is this the infamous tree view room????

I'll bet there is a tree near the corner of the building. All three floors list that end room as lagoon view so something must block the view of MK.

Wow, what a bummer! Were there no other functional rooms at the Poly? :confused3 That is a bit disconcerting!!!

Well, I hope you enjoy your stay at the GF. My husband won't even consider the GF but my daughter and I hope to do the princess 1/2 marathon when she turns 14 and that is where I want to stay then with her!!!!

Okay, why am I listening to the Poly loop music while planning my trip to BLT? :rotfl:

Guess who'll be a frequent visitor in August, getting her fix... :cool2:

My DH and DD always order Tonga Toast. These days I usually get the fruit plate which is very good. One son loves pancakes at Kona. Everything is good although service is much slower lately. For years and years, we could count on a great and quick breakfast at Kona.

This has worried me. We booked LVCL (before we were aware of TP view), and we requested the 3rd floor because we like the idea of a balcony. I'm worried we'll get this room and have a tree blocking it....or, we'll be put on the second floor (minus the balcony)...or, maybe we'll get upgraded?

We fly out from chilly icy Indiana tomorrow morning for our 3 night stay at Poly :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Any last minute Poly details I should make note of??

I noticed that last night when looking at the building layout. Honestly, I was surprised because we stayed in the room next door to that one and had a fantastic view. I had no idea that there was anything blocking the view from a room just a few feet away. :confused3 Guess we got lucky...

I need to file away that information. I've had the flatbreads at CC's, but that's it.

We have a breakfast ADR for Kona one morning just so we can try Tonga Toast, but since we are CL, I don't really want to keep it. I'm thinking I'll get the Tonga Toast from CC's and check to see if hte pancakes are available room service--anyone done that? Will I really miss out if we don't breakfast at Kona?

Love Love Love this thread!!!!!!:love::love::love:

I've stayed in the room right next door as well. I'm not sure what to do now. I really enjoy the 3rd floor balcony. We were in a first floor room one year and ended up having the drapes closed the entire time because so many people walked by the room. 2nd floor has more room #s listed, but no balconies. I think I'll just wait until we arrive and see what they have:confused3

There is just one room in the LVCL category on the third floor that is considered lagoon view, room 3518, all the other third floor rooms are considered theme park view, per Tikiman's site.

I am also staying LVCL -- 4 more days --- :yay: but I didn't make any special requests, just hoping for the best.

Hope you get a great room.

Oh, just wait..after you've experienced it once, that's when the true madness begins.:rotfl2:

I had to upgrade from GV to LV:headache: because we decided to add a day...there were no GV rooms available (just knew that would happen!). Can anyone give me a building to choose that would still be close to GCH...have my asthmatic mother and dd8 with me and DM does not want to have to walk far to GCH.:rolleyes1

Also, I was looking at the pictures on Allears and didn't see a hairdryer attached to the wall...is there a hair dryer in the room (like on a shelf next to the iron :confused3)?

Thank you all SO much for your kind input on all my questions!

I don't think they have the macadamia nut pancakes for room service. Other than that you won't be missing a lot if you don't have breakfast at Kona IMO. You could ask Room Service for an order of them though - they are very accommodating and might get you what you want. :goodvibes
