Here's what I found - EXCLUDING Club level:
TPV rooms without balconies: 12%
GV rooms with potential for Parking Lot view: 13%

GV rooms with balconies: 304 (50%)
GV rooms with patios: 200 (33%)
GV rooms with no balcony: 110 (18%)

LV rooms with balconies: 23 (46%)
LV rooms with patios: 19 (38%)
LV rooms with no balcony: 9 (18%)

83% of the non-CL rooms atthe Poly are GV, 7% LV, 10% TPV.

I love Tikiman's site.....

I love stats like this! Great job! :teacher: Fun stuff. Thanks for the info!

I did that last trip and we had a third floor balcony in Tokelau.

Someone else could answer better than I can on the TPV rooms and if you have a better chance of a balcony there - but I hope I helped at least a little!

This is what a Poly IPO CM sent me earlier today, I hope this helps.

Aloha!
A concierge club level Theme Park View room would be in the Hawaii Longhouse on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor, facing the Magic Kingdom.

We do have quite a few theme park view rooms on the 3rd floor.

yep - I assure you that you can book a CL TPV and get a 2nd floor room. Happened to us last year and we asked if we could switch...we were offered 3rd floor Tahiti with access to the lounge with a key card. And our rate was reduced to the discounted rate for MKV (we were on the 4/7 plan that year). It was perfect for us - but we won't book CL anymore I don't think. We just like Tahiti too much.

I keep going back and forth between CBR and the Poly. We have only ever stayed value and decided never again. DH hates buses and really wants to stay on the monorail. I love the Poly, it's my dream resort - and... we have a 40% off pin code. That said, it's still about $1000 more for the week than CBR.

Please tell me why the Poly is worth it, in your opinion. Or, if you think we'd like CBR just as well, please tell me why.

If it helps, we have two kids - 4 and 7. We'll be staying for a week with the dining plan in June. Right now I'm weighing CBR with Plus Dining vs. Poly with QSDP and a few OOP ADRs.

If we stay at CBR, we'll definitely rent a car!

First, I would like to say that we have no kids. I would also like to tell you that we have stayed at all levels of Disney resorts and have indeed stayed at CBR and the Poly in the past. My partner and I both like to keep as much money in our pockets as possible, but quite honestly, the older we get (36 and 42 currently) the more important it is becoming for us to spoil ourselves and really enjoy a relaxing vacatation at least once a year.

Ok, CBR, let me start by saying that the theme of this resort never appealed to me before I booked it and it didn't change when we stayed there. Their CS food court was ok, it had some nice choices, but their TS restaurant is a joke. It's set up with faux walls inside the seating area of the CS restaurant inside of Old Port Royale. It's totally tacky. The rooms were ok, but quite honestly, we stayed there for our anniversary and the room we got was as far away from the bus stop as possible and as far away from the pool as possible. I don't think that we could have been given a worse location. We were not close to The Custom House or Old Port Royale. Basically, we got the worst possible location with a king bed. Oh, and the cool pool was down for rehab, so no hot tub for us. We left that weekend getaway with one firm rule. We will never stay at CBR again!

The Poly, ah, let me say that those two words, the Poly, they almost always make me sigh with fond memories of the best relaxed vacation experience at WDW ever. I admit that being upgraded to GV CL was pretty sweet too. :woohoo: We loved the easy access to the monorail. We loved the fact that there was excellent coffee right there. We loved the dining options. Of all of the deluxe resorts, this is the only resort that we would actually dine at all of their restaurants with no hesitation. My partner is a picky eater and has food allergies, but they always do a great job in offering up tasty food that won't kill her. Honestly, even when you have to walk from the TTC to the Hawaii building it's not that bad, because the environment is so incredibly peaceful. The pools were great. We had a great time at the Luau. The fireworks at MK were nice to enjoy from inside the CL lounge and from the beach. Overall, this was just the best vacation experience ever.

Now, let me just say that out of all of the Moderates that we have stayed at POR wins my vote for favorite, much for the same reasons that I love the Poly, it's peaceful, it's beautiful, and it's comfortable. I love POR. Also, I have to give props to the YC. We stayed there in December and it was an excellent experience. We loved it. Epcot was an easy walk or boat ride away. DHS was a boat ride or an 20 minute walk away. We had great bus service to AK, MK, and DTD. The level of service we experienced was outstanding. The pools were nice and the hot tub was perfect. The food was great at the Captain's Grill. It's my #2 resort of choice and if it had a monorail, I would be really torn between the YC and the Poly as to which was #1.

I hope something in what I just wrote helps you. :)

I agree 100% with Mickeysaver. We have stayed in CBR (years ago) and were underimpressed. By FAR, I would recommend POFQ (never stayed in POR - being from GA, we never saw the appeal of staying in a hotel that looked sort of like our house - hehe). But I know people love POR. Also, our fav moderate is CSR - though we haven't stayed anywhere except Poly since 2003 (wow, 6 years at the Poly - where does the time go?), I could never recommend CBR. Have fun no matter what you choose.

Wow -- at least they gave you the MKV rate and kept your CL access -- that sounds like they were being quite nice about it. The problem with the Hawaii building are that there really are very few rooms there for the CMs to "play" with when placing guests.

And, like your experience with the Hawaii building, I trust Tikiman's site where it shows that about 1/2 of the rooms on the 2nd floor are TPV rooms.

IMO for people who want a balcony above all else: make that your only request. You're more likely to get it that way!:goodvibes

Does anyone know if there have been any changes to the CL food selection in the Hawaii Bldg, specifically the evening set-out? I used to have a link that was pretty accurate, but I don't know where it is. We were there last June, maybe it hasn't really changed.

Oddly enough, we live in GA too. I even went to UGA for a few years. ;)
We also like CSR. The only problems that I have with it are that it's just so weird to me to be in full tourist attire and go through the lobby and see all these uptight people in suits and dresses. It just sort of killed my attempt to get into and stay in a laid back frame of mind. I also didn't care for the Pepper Market. The food was good and the portions were huge but the prices were too high in my opinion and the whole automatic gratuity thing was just a wrong. At Maya Grille, the food and the coffee were both outstanding. We went before Rix Lounge was opened, so I can't comment on that. We went in December and it was really cold that year, so the pool was not used either, so I can't comment on it.

My goodness...one day at work and you guys blow through 4+ pages of the thread!

First of all :welcome: to all the new Poly friends! We look forward to planning with you!

To Figment1990...thanks for the numbers! Very interesting :thumbsup2

Thank you mmmears, and all of the others who responded.

I'm sad, but at least I know what I have to do. There's no reason for me to spend $100+ a night more when I really can't stomach the idea of missing the soundtrack. My youngest son and I watch our Wishes video every day before bed and sing along. I cry like a baby every.single.time. Especially when Jiminy says...

"You see, its just like I told ya. Wishes can come true, if you believe in them with all your heart. And the best part is, you'll never run out of wishes.
They're shining deep down inside of you. 'Cause that my friends is where the magic lives"

See, I'm tearing up right now. Oh, and EWP is not really a selling point for me. I actually find it kinda corny <ducking to avoid rotten apples being thrown at me:lmao:>

I just wanted to pipe in and say that I'm pretty sure that I read that they are changing the fireworks show this summer and it won't be Wishes anymore. I can't remember when this is supposed to happen, but I know it was before we will be there. I just didn't want you to be disappointed. :confused3

They did change the CL offerings as of early October 2009. Things may vary from time to time but here is the post that shows what the new offerings are...Click here!

The great thing is that they brought back the fresh pineapple and carmel. :goodvibes which was MIA for a while.

can anyone confirm the changes to wishes fireworks? I thought it was the same story just different fireworks!

I just cant lose mr cricket!

I am a huge fireworks junkie. I watched fireworks for the first time when I was only 8 months old and I have been hooked ever since. I absolutely love Wishes. I think the Holiday Wishes program at MVMCP is better than regular Wishes and I like HalloWishes too, but it had to grow on me. However, the Magic, Music, and Mayhem show that they did at the Pirates & Princess Parties was just out of this world fabulous! :woohoo: It is that MMM fireworks show that is being slightly tweeked and shown to the guests this summer.

Really, unless you are a total Wishes purist, this is going to be a great treat. I am heat intolerant and would never have considered going to WDW in August before, but when they announced this was coming, I knew that I had to go. Heck, my first solo trip was booked with the hope that the Pirates & Princess Parties would be returning, so that I could see that fireworks program. I have watched very poor quality video of the MMM show on YouTube and it gave me goosebumps. To have been given a second chance to see this in person is just awesome! I can't wait. :woohoo:

Thanks for the tip We're not back going back to the World until after Thanksgiving so I'm hoping the Summer Nightastic (or whatever it's called) is done by then. I really appreciate the warning though!

Everyone on this thread is so awesome :thumbsup2

The Summer Nightastic parade and fireworks are only supposed to be around from early June through August. No official dates have been issued yet. I am anxiously awaiting further details. popcorn::

Thanks for posting the link -- I don't know how I missed that post before, but it's great information to have!!!:goodvibes

Thanks for posting the link. :goodvibes I checked out the YouTube video of the parade too - and it made me cry. I remember seeing that parade when I was a kid, and how beautiful the lights were. I'll miss Spectro and Wishes, but I can make room for something new. :)

I always look for Tink flying through the air! I listen closely to the story and feel like I am 12 again!!! I hope there will be a story as touching as wishes! I love the fireworks but I think the story touches my heart!
