I'm really excited to see it and I LOVE MSEP. I love Wishes and Spectromagic too, but I've seen them so much, I'm ready for a change, even if it's only temporary!

Good news/bad news.

GV-CL is unavailable for my dates so while I'll have to fork out the cash for TPV, I don't have to feel guilty about not using it to it's full potential:cool1:

And maiapapaya, maybe EWP will grow on me when watching it from the room with a glass of wine or three :woohoo:

Tough luck. ;) Make sure you sleep with your curtains open so you can enjoy watching the castle change colours in the night. That's one of the best things about TPV. :thumbsup2 Maybe you could somehow get the Wishes music onto your ipod & play it during the fireworks (there's a docking station on the radio in the room). I'm sure the wine will definitely improve the EWP experience for you - just embrace the corniness! :lmao:

Hey Maiapapaya.....(showed my 6 Y.O. daughter this and she loves that there is another maiapapaya out there:)

Where did you find the show organizer thingy? I went to the dollar store but the stupid thing kept falling on the floor:headache: It was one of those stick on ones..my Walmart didn't have any so I was just curious so this year I can avoid the frustration....Anyhoo today was my 180 day and I got ALL my requests even LE CELLIER:banana::woohoo:...hope it lives up to the hype:rolleyes1

I got mine at a store called Giant Tiger - I don't think you have them in the US. They're a discount store, kind of between a dollar store & Walmart. Mine cost around $10 and hangs on metal clips that go over the top of the door.
Congrats on getting all of your ADR's. We'll be trying Le Cellier for the first time on our next trip and am also hoping it lives up to the hype.

Just wanted to see our ticker....looking out at the new fallen snow. God, do I want to be laying poolside right now!:cloud9:

I can tell you that I've found them at Home Depot, Walmart (maybe you can try on-line?), and a few department stores. They really come in handy for WDW!

looks like we will be there around the same time ;)

Our dates are not definate until I find decent airfare. The prices are finally coming down and when I find a fare I like then I will book! I am aiming for 11/30 or 12/1 arrival. We have 12/4-12 booked at the Poly for now so we shall see :thumbsup2

I always look for Tink flying through the air! I listen closely to the story and feel like I am 12 again!!! I hope there will be a story as touching as wishes! I love the fireworks but I think the story touches my heart!

I always cry when I see Tink flying - and I always cry during Spectro too. I'm sure I'll find something to cry about for the new fireworks too! I bawled like a baby during the NYE fireworks..... :upsidedow

So I have another bad case of switcheritis again. :headache: Now I want to just skip a split stay altogether and just stay at Poly for the whole trip. :faint:

I think looking at all of that snow outside has made me a little loopy.

Aloha!

WE just booked our first stay at Poly! We've stayed at the other monorail resorts, so we figured it was time to give the Poly a try. All of this harsh winter weather really got to me, thus a July visit to the world! ;)

This thread was so helpful - I spent the last 2 days going thru it and learning the layout of the resort.

My partner and I both like to keep as much money in our pockets as possible, but quite honestly, the older we get (36 and 42 currently) the more important it is becoming for us to spoil ourselves and really enjoy a relaxing vacatation at least once a year.
...
I hope something in what I just wrote helps you. :)

Definitely! We want NICE and RELAXING! We also love all the food at the Poly and the atmosphere and are really looking forward to taking advantage of the convenience of the monorail and relaxing on the beach - with a Lapu Lapu!

How would you compare YC and Poly? I'm toying with the idea of a split stay with BC, but I'm really thinking I'll save that for a future trip.

I agree 100% with Mickeysaver. We have stayed in CBR (years ago) and were underimpressed. By FAR, I would recommend POFQ (never stayed in POR - being from GA, we never saw the appeal of staying in a hotel that looked sort of like our house - hehe). But I know people love POR. Also, our fav moderate is CSR - though we haven't stayed anywhere except Poly since 2003 (wow, 6 years at the Poly - where does the time go?), I could never recommend CBR. Have fun no matter what you choose.

Thanks, Dawgdad. I've been looking at CSR and POR/POFQ too, but I think we're sold on the Poly or at least Deluxe!

The Polynesian is my favorite deluxe resort :) We've tried staying at the Wilderness Lodge, by my heart belongs to the Polynesian.

Whichever resort you may choose, I hope you have a magical vacation!

Too funny. I liked seeing the count on my ticker too, but decided 9 months was way to far way, so I decided to add a short solo trip to the AKL in March just to get me over the winter time blues. It will be nice, but I am most excited about my first stay the Poly in December.

I am leaning towards requesting Tahiti TPV after seeing some great pics posted on this thread!

#1 - My only reservation is that is seems far from the GCH. How far is it really - will it be too far to grab some QS & take it back to our room?

#2 - If we were taking the monorail to MK, is the quicker ride from the GCH or from TTC?

#3 - And lastly, does the floor matter? Do you Tahiti lovers prefer patio - or 2nd/3rd floor balconies?

I think that is it for questions at the moment - i'm sure I will have a ton more as the trip gets closer!

Hello!
I have tried to answer your questions to the best of my ability but my memory is a bit rusty since my last trip was in 2008 :)

#1 - My only reservation is that is seems far from the GCH. How far is it really - will it be too far to grab some QS & take it back to our room?

It would be approximately a 5-10 minute walk from the GCH to Tahiti. Depending on walking speed of course. Some people think that Tahiti is too far from the GCH, but in reality it is not.

#2 - If we were taking the monorail to MK, is the quicker ride from the GCH or from TTC?

I think in the case of this question, it is up to you. Tahiti is really close to the TTC, but by the time you walk to the monorail platform, you could have possibly already caught the resort monorail to the Magic Kingdom. I know the past two trips when we have stayed in Tahiti, we walked to the GCH to take the monorail to the MK. Never really thought about taking it from the TTC.

It is probably a 5-10 minute walk to the TTC, where as it is approximately a 5 minute walk or less to the GCH from Tahiti. Of course, the only stop between the Polynesian and the MK is the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, but the time between the Poly & MK on the monorail is probably 10-15 minutes, or less.

I'm not sure if it is quicker from the TTC to MK, or from GCH to MK. It would honestly, be up to you and what you would feel like doing.

#3 - And lastly, does the floor matter? Do you Tahiti lovers prefer patio - or 2nd/3rd floor balconies?

I love having a balcony in Tahiti. There is no reason why I do, but I would prefer a balcony over a patio. It's up to you, if you like to be up higher, than balcony is good for you. If you like to be on the ground level, than it would be patio.

For you Poly veterans I have a couple of room questions as well.

Can you rank your top 3 Longhouse favorites, which floors and why?

Also, if you are on the ground floor ... which longhouse has the least traffic (or would allow the kids to play without a ton of people?

Thanks so much!

#1 - We are 6 straight years in Tahiti MKV...the walk to GCH is less than 5 minutes...and maybe 5 minutes with a tray of food (yes, I have been the official runner for 13 people many times - room service even loaned me one of those huge trays)

brother in law sporting the tray...

#2 - We have always found it quicker to take TTC to MK (unless we have a char bfast at GF...)

#3 - We have done all 3. We love 3rd floor, but when I broke my foot in '05 (at Disney I might add - getting off the Tomorrowland Speedway...my fault...anyway), I was still having problems the next year, so we stayed 1st floor. Since then we have been 3rd floor all but 1 year.

Thanks PolyLily & DawgDad for the Tahiti info! Dawgdad - I wish you were coming the same time as us - we could use a meal runner! haha! Looks like you are leaving soon though - I am so jealous!

We have ressies in August for a gardenview room. The waiting stinks, I want to know NOW what building we will be placed in. What buildings can I rule out?

not sure you could afford me...hehe

this idea started last year when we were originally told that there were not enough rooms in Tahiti and we were upgraded to Hawaii. All they had was 2nd floor, so we asked if we could wait (also, the smaller rooms in Hawaii and single sink are tough for us with a big family). Anyway, we didn't have to wait - they had 3 rooms on the 3rd floor after all...hmmm

After all of that, the manager came out and handed us 3 keys for entry into the concierge lounge for the week. Let me tell you, we loved having the rooms we wanted along with the access to the lounge (all for no extra cost). So we asked room service for a tray so that we could send 1 person and not descend our entire group on the lounge. We also used the tray for Cap'n Cooks runs.

Also - it is less than a 3 minute walk to the TTC monorail from Tahiti.
