Every time I ask DH about this, he votes for the Polynesian and he's the cheap one! So, if he thinks it's worth the extra $, we'll go for it. I have no doubt I'll love it and who knows when I'll get another great PIN code!?!

Incredibly beautiful photos, maiapapaya

And I love the fireworks from the Poly withOUT the soundtrack :wizard:

I just can't resist a good math/analytical problem...

Here's what I found - EXCLUDING Club level:
TPV rooms without balconies: 12%
GV rooms with potential for Parking Lot view: 13%

GV rooms with balconies: 304 (50%)
GV rooms with patios: 200 (33%)
GV rooms with no balcony: 110 (18%)

LV rooms with balconies: 23 (46%)
LV rooms with patios: 19 (38%)
LV rooms with no balcony: 9 (18%)

83% of the non-CL rooms atthe Poly are GV, 7% LV, 10% TPV.

I love Tikiman's site.....

:teacher: Figment1990, you are hard-core :rotfl::rotfl:

Is anyone getting a rate close to 200.00 a night here anymore in the offseason.I would love to stay here again but it has really gone up over the past few years. We used to stay here in sept and october for 190.00 a night taxes included.Anyone know how to get close to these rates or are they gone?

I definitely haven't seen rates at or less than $200. You can get under $300 a night, though, on Expedia or with various discounts.

Well, not really. The Hawaii longhouse where the CL is doesn't have balconies on the second floor. However, I think I remember reading that if you book TPV and CL then you definitely get a balcony. It was a page or two back on this thread. You could just book GV, and ask for a balcony but leave the specific longhouse request open. I did that last trip and we had a third floor balcony in Tokelau.

Someone else could answer better than I can on the TPV rooms and if you have a better chance of a balcony there - but I hope I helped at least a little! :)

Yes, that helps! Thanks!

Thanks! Of course now I'm feeling incredibly "home sick" for the Poly. :sad1:
I have a feeling the next nine months are going to crawl by. That's why I hang out here - to feed my addiction! :rotfl:

Wise decision! :thumbsup2 And besides, that 40% code makes it so much easier to justify!

Wishes Soundtrack:

We had a TPV CL room in Hawaii and could NOT hear the Wishes soundtrack while we were watching the fireworks. Didn't bother me, but if you do want to hear it, then you may be disappointed.

I also read here that it's on the TV, but it was not -- we checked with the concierge, the resort, and tried the TV.

I agree! Our kids are almost the exact same age - we also have a 19 yo. Have you taken your oldest and all five stayed in a Poly room? Was there plenty of room? Not sure our oldest is going on this trip yet, but was wondering if we'd all fit okay if she does.

Thank you mmmears, and all of the others who responded.

I'm sad, but at least I know what I have to do. There's no reason for me to spend $100+ a night more when I really can't stomach the idea of missing the soundtrack. My youngest son and I watch our Wishes video every day before bed and sing along. I cry like a baby every.single.time. Especially when Jiminy says...

"You see, its just like I told ya. Wishes can come true, if you believe in them with all your heart. And the best part is, you'll never run out of wishes.
They're shining deep down inside of you. 'Cause that my friends is where the magic lives"

See, I'm tearing up right now. Oh, and EWP is not really a selling point for me. I actually find it kinda corny <ducking to avoid rotten apples being thrown at me:lmao:>

Yes, all five of us went and we were quite comfortable in our room. The two little ones shared a bed and DD18 slept on the day bed. The only issue was the debris field that DD18 left in her area of the room. We had to constantly be on her for that!

What helped with all of us in one room was to unpack and put our suitcases away - two went in the closet and two went behind the chair - DD18 kind of lived out of hers, which we had to keep moving around, see above reference to the debris field! :rotfl: If she comes next time that will definitely change!

I also took the advice of some fellow disers and bought one of those shoe-organizer thingys and hung it on the back of the bathroom door to put our toiletries in (sunscreen, toothpaste, DD18's hair staightener, meds, etc). We also brought a couple of collapsible laundry hampers which really helped to keep the room tidier.

Then I can totally understand why you would change your ressie if the "whole" Wishes experience means so much to you. But, wrt the EWP, common, it's corniness is it's charm! Especially that fantastic electronic music! :lmao: Our family LOVES it! (but I will refrain from throwing apples!)

Hey Maiapapaya.....(showed my 6 Y.O. daughter this and she loves that there is another maiapapaya out there:)

Where did you find the show organizer thingy? I went to the dollar store but the stupid thing kept falling on the floor:headache: It was one of those stick on ones..my Walmart didn't have any so I was just curious so this year I can avoid the frustration....Anyhoo today was my 180 day and I got ALL my requests even LE CELLIER:banana::woohoo:...hope it lives up to the hype:rolleyes1

:lmao: I have a 17 year old boy that does the same thing! (Which is why I usually get two bedroom villas ;))

Good news/bad news.

GV-CL is unavailable for my dates so while I'll have to fork out the cash for TPV, I don't have to feel guilty about not using it to it's full potential:cool1:

And maiapapaya, maybe EWP will grow on me when watching it from the room with a glass of wine or three :woohoo:

Aloha!

Thought I'd say hello... we just booked a short summer trip and will be staying at the Poly, first time there as we've stayed at the other monorail resorts.
