o.k. I have been searching for an hour under the completed TR's thread and used the search thingy and still have yet to find a completed TR for a POLY stay:headache::headache::headache: Every TR has a stay anywhere else but the POLY...Then I did POLY Resort search even worse results....ugggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh

so if anyone here has a completed TR can you post your link so I can get my POLY fix:rotfl2: I really want to read some TR's of people who stayed at the POLY.

Can you help an addict out?

Here's mine from our Oct. '09 trip. Maybe I should have left the link in my signature, but it was getting a little crowded!

ETA: I'm not really sure why the word "and" is highlighted in red - hope it's only doing that for me - it's somewhat annoying!

We'll be at the Poly in 3 weeks :yay: Hopefully someone can answer my questions- I'm definitely a freak about being on time to things.

How long will it take me to get to the MK by monorail... I have 8:05 Crystal Palace ADR- what time should I be leaving the Poly?
How long does it take to get to DHS & AK from the Poly- how much time should I leave myself to make it there by rope drop?
I have 7:30 ADRs for breakfasts at Ohana and Kona, do I really need to arrive 20 minutes early as the confirmation email says?

TIA Poly pals!

1) How long will it take me to get to the MK by monorail. I have 8:05 Crystal Palace ADR- what time should I be leaving the Poly?

Since you will be taking the monorail in the morning, the amount of time spent at each monorail stop should be minimal. I would say that the amount of time it would take you to get from the Polynesian Resort to the Magic Kingdom would be 10 to 15 minutes maximum since there is really only one full stop between the two locations.

As to what time you should leave to go to the Crystal Palace, I would say to be safe 7:25am or 7:30am. If it takes 10 minutes to get there that brings you to 7:40am, then if it takes 5 to 10 minutes to walk to the restaurant that would be 7:50am, so then you arrive 15 minutes early. It is entirely up to you, but I would suggest leaving a few minutes early just in case it does take a bit longer to get to the MK.

2) How long does it take to get to DHS & AK from the Poly- how much time should I leave myself to make it there by rope drop?
Are you going to be taking the bus? Or do you have a car?

3) I have 7:30 ADRs for breakfasts at Ohana and Kona, do I really need to arrive 20 minutes early as the confirmation email says?
I would say not really 20 minutes. Since you are staying at the Polynesian, it really shouldn't take you that long to get to Ohana and Kona. I'd say arrive 10 or 5 minutes early :) That is what we do.

Hope that helped! :thumbsup2

Wow, Dawgdad, LOVE the photos--especially the one of the fireworks! :thumbsup2

Try to do it at least once..you won't regret it. We did it last year and it was awesome.

Agreed. :goodvibes We did it for our first Poly stay and loved it! Since then we stay GV as while the LV view was great, my bank account wasn't so happy with me. :lmao:

Maia read your whole TR could not post there, so I am going to here.

Your DD's are great and I definately got my POLY fix:goodvibes

Your DD was so cute at BBB and I loved the Alice pic with your other DD.

Thanks for taking the time to write this and is your next trip still being put on hold from DH? I hope not, you are going to have to work him some more...

One thing that helps me is that we have a digital frame that loops our last trip and it keeps the Disney siren song loud and clear to our whole family, plus I always book bounceback that way it is already in the works.

Thanks again for posting the link;)

I am an absolute stickler for being on time (early is preferable to me :lmao:) so here are my recommendations:

How long will it take me to get to the MK by monorail... I have 8:05 Crystal Palace ADR- what time should I be leaving the Poly?

I would say leave the Poly by 7:30am. And by leaving I mean you're getting on the monorail at that time. You have to stop at the GF, get to the MK, get through bag check (if you have bags), walk down Main street to get to the Crystal Palace.

How long does it take to get to DHS & AK from the Poly- how much time should I leave myself to make it there by rope drop?

My rule of thumb is to always leave an hour before rope drop. So far it's worked great for us. :thumbsup2

I have 7:30 ADRs for breakfasts at Ohana and Kona, do I really need to arrive 20 minutes early as the confirmation email says?

For 'Ohana, YES! For Kona, not so much. 'Ohana seems to back up exponentially as the evening (or morning) goes on. You want to get in the seating queue as quickly as possible. For Kona I've been running late and only gotten there 5 to 10 minutes before my reservation time and was seated without issue.

Hope that helps! :goodvibes

Unfortunately, I think I'm out for my trip, even though I just booked...

My sister's fiance decided to join us, so I don't think 4 adults & 2 small kids will work well at the Poly.

We're going to switch to 2 rooms @ Pop most likely, and save a few dollars!

Tahiti LV (actually MKV):

Love these pictures!!! We originally booked GVCL, but with the 40% discount, I upgraded to TPVCL....DH has no idea, nor do the kids. I'm assuming our view will be similar to this.....can hardly wait!!!! They are going to be so excited when they see our view.

Oh no!!! :sad1:

 Is one of the small children under three maybe? If so an air mattress on the floor would work. :)

Like MsStinkerbell I'm a stickler for getting places early. I agree with her recommendations, but just want to add that you can also take the boat launch to the MK and most times IMO it's a quicker trip.;) Depending on where your longhouse is, you can see if a boat is coming in and if it is, get on for a direct trip. If not, I'd go to the monorail.

YAY!!! The TPV from Hawaii is very similar to the one from Tahiti, only you're farther from the main ferry area and the CR. They are both gorgeous views, though!:thumbsup2

yes your view will be very similar. Just a little better of MK maybe.

As far as I know the boat launch doesn't go until 9am, so you won't make RD that way. We usually take the monorail there and the back back in the afternoon.

Huh -- we took the boat every morning to the MK -- and were always there well before rope drop! I think things change depending on what time of year you go. We always arrive well before the "show" at the train station, too. But we going a really busy time -- that may mean that the monorails and boats were operating earlier. I'll never wait for the boat in the morning, though -- just grab it when we see it.;)

Have a great time, BCV23! :dance3:

When you get a chance to visit the Poly, can you swing by BouTiki to see if they have any new Polynesian Resort apparel? Thx! :goodvibes

Thanks so much! We're so glad to be at WDW.:woohoo:

I will be happy to check out the current Polynesian apparel. :goodvibes Are you interested in anything in particular?

Have a great trip BCV23!!

Thanks, Lily!:goodvibes

Hi We have our trip booked for the Poly (were considering a switch, due to balcony & some unfavorable reviews I have read, but I think we are going to stick with the Poly& go based on the positive reviews I have read) My question is we really would like a balcony & are booked for standard GV room. I see that TPV is open as well as CL, do I have a better chance at a balcony request sticking with GV or upgrading to either of the other two? Any advice??? :goodvibes
TIA

Doh! :headache: Totally forgot about that option--thanks! I'm so caffeine-deprived in the morning my first thought is GCH+Coffee+Happy Mom on Monorail. :lmao:

Usually *all* Disney transportation is running at least 1 hour before park open. :goodvibes And I know the boat launch runs before 9am because several times when we stayed in Tuvalu (LV) the boat whistle was my early morning wake-up call.

If they've got any nice hoodies or dresses I'd be interested in those. Oh, and there's rumored to be a gardenia room spray for sale there as well. Thanks so much for checking! :goodvibes

I keep going back and forth between CBR and the Poly. We have only ever stayed value and decided never again. DH hates buses and really wants to stay on the monorail. I love the Poly, it's my dream resort - and... we have a 40% off pin code. That said, it's still about $1000 more for the week than CBR.

Please tell me why the Poly is worth it, in your opinion. Or, if you think we'd like CBR just as well, please tell me why.

If it helps, we have two kids - 4 and 7. We'll be staying for a week with the dining plan in June. Right now I'm weighing CBR with Plus Dining vs. Poly with QSDP and a few OOP ADRs.

If we stay at CBR, we'll definitely rent a car!
