We're back from our BC stay, but did visit the Polynesian while we were there. There is a new food list for concierge that went into place on 10/5 if anyone is interested. :thumbsup2

Thanks Tess for the menu.

I guess that makes up my mind on whether to upgrade to CL..our youngest has a severe peanut allergy so we can't take the chance of him coming in contact with peanut butter :headache: in fact we are running into this problem with a lot of our meals (buffets).

Thanks Tess for the info.

Princesskenziesmom - I hope you take advantage of the DISabilities board regarding your son's allergies. We luckily have no allergy issues in our family, but everyone I know who does raves about Disney dining and accomodating allergies. You just need to call Disney in advance and they will help you out immensely, relative to food choices and the chefs at the TS places will make special meals for your son! Good luck.

Anyone rent boats at the Poly? Please tell me which one and did you enjoy it. How far can you go? Any restrictions on how far you can go? We have 3 people, maybe 5 on a day family in FL is visiting so we will get a larger boat not a sea racer. Thank you from a first time Poly guest.

We rented a pontoon boat with some friends about two weeks ago from the Poly. The price was about $45/30min, I believe, but it was well worth it. They also have Boston Wailer boats available for the same price, but the CMs recommended the pontoon instead since it was a smoother ride.

There are some restricted areas of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake (eg: ferry boat launch, water ski area, etc.) but there was plenty of space to cruise around. We enjoyed checking out the other Magic Kingdom resorts from the water. Pontoons do not reach high speeds, but it was great time.

Enjoy! :goodvibes

We just got back from our club level stay, and my DS also has a peanut allergy (sesame too). The chefs (including Chef Dick at the lounge) were fantastic, especially at the buffets. They walk you through the whole line, and really know what they are talking about. The chef at Chef Mickeys had a huge list of tables he needed to visit for special diets, so they are completely on the ball when it comes to allergies. Definately visit the DisAbilities board - there is an email address for the special diets dept at Disney - they will totally take care of you! Good luck and have a great trip!

Just wanted to post a huge thank you to those that gave their reviews of the Luau!

We have reservations at the Poly for a 6 night stay starting on the 17th. When I check our reservation on the on-line chick-in site only 4 out of the 5 people in our party is listed. Is this because my youngest is 2 years old? I am thinking at she does not count because she does not need a ticket. I just hope I am right.

Thanks,

Tess! Welcome back!

You are awesome! Does that mean the pineapple with caramel is back?

I almost jumped out of my chair when I read that!

Thanks for the menu, I will post a link on the Poly CL page!

According to my super secret sources, the menu was in place yesterday. :thumbsup2 Is anyone going in the near future to taste test and verify it is all in place?

The pineapple and caramel are personal as well as family favorites here too!

I will personally taste everything and report back to you all!

It is a tough job, but someone has to do it! :rolleyes1

I will look forward to hearing every detail. . . Save room for F&W treats--at least it looks as if you are there at the tail end--my gosh did we feast--didn't eat much else the entire time we were there.

Thanks for the info, I have seen the Disabilities section (our oldest ds has severe sensory, cognitive, and speech delays) and I did see the info on the allergies but I did not think that the Chef's would be so accomadating to those with food allergies. It makes my nerves calm a bit and a dance in my heart...Disney is magical! :cool1:

Thanks,

I would call. I just booked a bounce back offer (free dining) while I was down there a couple of weeks ago for next year at the Poly. I'm currently pregnant and told the reservation agent that I was expecting and that we would have an infant with us. She asked for a name (we don't know the sex) and I told her we wouldn't be able to give her that info until after the baby is born. She told us to call and add the baby to the registration because they want ALL the names/ages of all the parties staying in the room.

It's worth a phone call at the very least (Last year, my DD was 2 and she was listed on the ressie. This year she is 3 and, again, listed on the ressie)

My DD is 15mos and her name appears on the reservation and all travel docs. There are blanks next to her name where they have the symbols/numbers for meals park tix etc. I would just call and double check.

We had a great experience last year. At each place, the chef showed us the buffet personally and explained which foods were OK, and offered to make alternatives if we wanted. Same for restaurants that were not buffets. Even at the counter service at All Star Sports, the chef was wonderful -- made a special batch of egg-free pancakes just for my son to have each morning.

This year, in addition to noting the allergies on the reservation, I sent an email per Disney's instructions. They sent me lots of information and already started notifying the restaurants. Today, I received a phone call from the head chef at Yak and Yeti who assured me he could meet our needs and explained the menu and several alternative dishes he could make. Wow! That's customer service......

Sammy,
How about putting a lei around his neck when you land at the airport and say, "Happy Anniversary, DH! We're celebrating at the Polynesian! "

Have a wonderful anniversary trip! You arrive 4 weeks before me and my husb. I can't wait to return! :)

Susie

Thanks....that's a good idea!
