Hey all...we just got home from a little weekend mini break and for some reason I am getting super anxious! I was doing good and not stressing about anything! That has all seemed to change. Plus they are changing hours and adding shows which are making me nervouse about crowds!

So now I have a thousand lists running through my head! Things to do and get...you know how it is! :confused3

Oh well...it will all come together. I have to go back and read a couple of pages of the thread. I left my lap top at home this weekend. :rolleyes1 I missed it, but it was nice to take a cyber break!

I have to do a countdown dance with my Poly peeps who are heading to the Poly soon! :dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Are you worried about the crowds because of Halloween? I am arriving on 11/1 and am praying that the crowd levels are ok..but I guess it is what it is..we will have fun anyhow !!

I haven't even begun to think about what to bring..What are some of the things you guys suggest? I have some ponchos from the dollar store. I have to get moleskin<I think that is what it is called> since I tend to get blisters on my heals. Somewhere I saw to pack some plastic cups so you only have to buy one drink and then you can share it between kids to keep the costs down...

thanks Minnie&Nana for the reply on the hair care:)

Oh! a PS! Do they really give you leis when you get to the poly(the fake ones)??? I would love to get fake leis..a take home memento!!

Poly is our absolute FAVORITE hotel in the world, but due to the cost we can usually only travel during value season (which means late summer for us). But thanks to the 4/3 I was able to book our trip for Spring Break (March 13-20) for the same price! Woohoo!!! Now the countdown begins!

We always do GV, because I would rather have a couple extra nights at Disney than a great view. Last time we were in Tokelau, very end on the 2nd floor right across from the walkway to Neverland Club and laundry room. We loved this location because it was easy for me to get the laundry done, and we were equal distance from T&TC and the GCH. FWIW, we did have a 2nd floor balcony.

Capt. Cooks is small, but perfectly adequate. The touch screen ordering was no problem, unless you got behind someone who had no idea what they were doing. I love, love, love the Aloha Pork Sandwich. We also love Ohana and always do breakfast and dinner there.

The only negatives I could say are 1: the smell down past Capt Cooks by the Arcade was really musty/mildewy last time. Did anyone else notice this? And 2: the pool crashers!!! Poly really needs to crack down on this and go to a wristband system like SAB. There were never any chairs at the pool and it was so crowded we could barely swim. Still, the girls loved it, especially the slide!

Hope you had a great mini weekend!

Know what you mean with concerns about crowds, what to do etc. We are going early/mid December and there is not one value or moderate available even at rack rate! Glad we wanted the Polyensian b/c no WL, AKL or CR (other than BLT) - still some deluxe rooms available, but with values & mods booked solid means a lot of guests for EMH (we only do morning, but it will be far more crowded). We like to go with the flow, with a gentle plan, so keeping my fingers crossed that we can still do that.

The last 4 yrs early December has gotten more and more crowded - with MouseFest (not happening this yr) and all the books telling folks it is a slow time...well, everyone knows our secret! Certainly not like Spring Break or Summer, but those lazy days of early December are a thing of the past. :sad2:

I am sure it will all come together for you....but 3 weeks!!! You can do it!!!:thumbsup2

I am loving all the pics y'all have posted on this thread! We're going to be checking into the Poly on 12-12 for our first stay there, and I can't wait!

We are just back from our FIRST trip with our children (ages 6 and 4) and our first stay at the Poly! We LOVED it! Why we loved the Polynesian...

1) LOCATION!!! LOCATION!!! LOCATION!!!
2) Relaxed atmosphere
3) Friendly CMs
4) Lush foliage
5) Transportation options! The monorail service was down for a little more than 24 hours of our trip. DD and I were in line to ride the monorail (just before they shut it down) over to the the Grand Floridian for a princess tea party. DH and DS had just departed (with our car) to the FAntasia Gardens Mini Golf course. I knew there was a walking path to the GF. THANKFULLY, I found that...hot footed it over to the GF and made it in time for our tea party! Location of the poly was key!:thumbsup2 There is also a boat that goes Poly >>>> MK >>>>GF>>>>Poly (I think that's the route).
6) Large rooms
7) day bed for dd so DD and DS could have their own beds....both are tossers/turners so this provided great sleep for them.:)
8) The restaurant options (at the Poly) and at the GF and CR (quick monorail or boat ride over).
9)wildlife - we saw ducks, herons, lizards, a frog, and a bunny on our stay!

Thanks for the review! Where did you stay? We all love to hear Longhouse reviews :thumbsup2

My sister and I got back last Sunday from an 11 day stay at the Poly. I had booked Club Level-Lagoon view. Last October, I nearly fell over when I saw how much it was and I was worried it wouldn't be worth it.

OMG, so worth it. We had a fantastic view, and were on the 3rd floor. The castle was in our direct line of vision. Most nights, my sister and I would make root beer floats(root beer from refillable mug station, vanilla soft serve from the Dole Whip machine) and sit on our balcony and watch Wishes, and the EWP. In the mornings, we'd get some breakfast items and coffee from the lounge and eat breakfast out there.

Of course, all the CMs at the Poly were outstanding as usual. Saw 2 little bunnies that we named Tiki and Poly.

My sister is now the 3rd Poly addict in my family..getting ready to book 2010 and it will be the Poly again.:cloud9:

Sounds wonderful and the pics are great! Thanks for sharing :flower3: I love that you recruited a new Poly lover .

To all of you who just booked new Poly trips. Woohooo!! How exciting! Happy Planning :cheer2:

A few pages back someone mentioned a boxed fan you can request. Do they have them in all the longhouses? I brought a sound machine our last trip and the hallways were noisy, even over my sound machine. But a fan? Ahhh, that is music to my ears! Is this a request that you ask housekeeping about when you get there?

I'm still waiting on an answer to that question ... I thought I had read that quite some time ago, but was hoping that someone could confirm. :confused3
My DH cannot sleep without his fan!

Same here! Luckily we drive to WDW so we were able to bring a small (but loud) fan in our car. Could not sleep without it! I am willing to bet you could run to a nearby WalMart or drugstore and get a cheap one if worse came to worse.

Do they have a self service Dole Whip machine in the Concierge Room?

Do the concierge-level rooms in the Hawaii building have fridges?

Thx!:goodvibes

Ok, your post got me stressed! Then I saw the post about all the extra Fantasmic shows and Spectro shows in the Theme Parks forum, along with the comment that a CM told a poster that they've done it because of expected crowds. :scared1: It made no sense to me that the end of October, which is usually moderately busy, is now supposedly going to have such huge crowds they've added soo many extra shows! So, being the nerd that I am (and wanting to ease my mind) I went over to the WDW sight and checked availability and there seems to be lots of it so I'm not sure what's going on. :confused3 Touringplans is only reporting crowd levels of 6 & 4 for our week too. So I'm trying to remain hopeful that there is some other logical reason for this ...

My dad mentioned the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. DH and I have never done this but were thinking of this for mom, dad, DH and myself on a non-park night. What's the consensus on this show/food? Worth it?

I think we are going to be ok. There is alot of room availability so who knows.:confused3 One of the rumors and I stress RUMORS, is that they are brining Fantasmic back to a daily thing.

I was having a momentary freak out because I was unpacking for the weekend in sitting in a pile of dirty laundry while reading the DIS....I won't be doing that again.

So who knows and WHO CARES right? We are going to Disney :cool1:
We will make the best of what we get and still have a great time. Now we both need to get moving and go pack.. :rotfl2: Sadly, I have to go to work now. But I do have my "to do" list for this week. So let the countdown begin.

Have a great day everyone! :sunny:
