ALOHA to Hawaii ~ April 29 - May 14, 2012 Part 5

How was the gradual time change going there and back? Was it easy to adjust to? Did anyone feel really tired because of it?

What I noticed for our family...on the way to Hawaii we were waking up too early and on the way we couldn't get up. Since we are from Midwest that was 5 hours difference and it did messed us up a little.

we have been so busy . We got home from FL last Thursday and left the next day for our annual camping for Memorial Day. We stayed until todau- Friday still have some suitcases to unpack.John cough is still hanging on. He is on his second set of antibiotics- but it seem to be getting better. He has a scheduled dr app. on Monday so I am sure they will check it our again

I feel very fortunate to come on board healthy and go home healthy!! Just wish I was cruising again soon!

I searched and searched for a way to see and experience waterfalls on Maui. I came across good reviews for a private tour and booked off the reviews. That was the best decision we made. He made sure we experienced exactly what we wanted, private waterfalls and hiking. I just saw a piece about him on the travel channe tonightl. Even the travel channel must agree with us.

Sounds like a wonderful day! Nancy and I spent the day at several roadside farmers markets and the Maui Onion festival!

He did the waterfall/rainforest hike on Maui as well but through DCL. Do you know if it was the same company DCL used? Or was yours an independent solo guide? We really enjoyed our experience and would love to do it again when we go back to Maui.

We are finally home from our extended vacation.
I have just quick scanned all the postings since the cruise, glad everyone got home safely. Cathy and I still are fighting the crud we got at the end of the cruise. I am better than she is, she is on round two of antibiotics and still sounds terrible. See one of her doctors tomorrow (at 7:30 am????) to get more help. Sounds like we may be the last ones still trying to get rid of it.
...............

I am still coughing.....have not gone to the doctor, but I think that's a mistake....I will make an appt. on Monday....3 weeks of feeling this way is too long......I keep thinking I am better!

But I think I would love to go back to Hawaii and stay at Aulani or another resort for a whole week of sight seeing....just one day at each port was a nice taste, more like a teaser....makes me want to go back for more!

I am working my way through getting my trip journal posted to my blog and I am scanning in the Personal Navigators for each day. I haven't got all the days posted yet, but I am still working on it!

You can go to each day's entry and click the Personal Navigators link to view. Hopefully, you'll be able to read them!

Alternatively, you can try this:

On the lower right side you'll see sub-albums listed and there is a file for each day's Personal Navigator along with sometimes other paperwork delivered to us onboard.

Debbie

Thanks for the trip report. Sorry you were ill and had trouble with the waves.

The bird you saw on Maui is a Red-Crested Cardinal.

Also sorry our paths did not cross. Your faces do not look familiar but your narrative is. I would not have run away from a photo op with you.

Cathy saw her Doctor who felt after two rounds of antibiotics what was left is going to be viral at this point. Said if she is still this bad in a week to get to her respiratory specialist..... If you have not gotten medical care at all I would go see your Dr definitely. Hope you feel better soon.

Hey, thanks for that! I am not much of a birder, but they were very distinctive little birds. Yes, sorry we did not meet.

Debbie

I think it is genetic. My parents and my Dad's parents were birders. On my "to-do" list was to get a Hawaiian bird book and I was delighted to find one at the Jagger Museum before our bike excursion around Kilawea Volcano.

I am looking forward to the rest of your trip report, the Navigators and photos.

We saw one on the top of the Waimea canyom drive, while in the company of a local 'taxi' driver - he said the locals call them "Arizona Cardinals". :rotfl2:

No, No Ka ** Adventures is private. He picks you up in his Ford Explorer and off you go. He customizes the tour for his guests. Seriously, if we make it back we will not hesitate to use him. He takes you to areas that no big tours take you. Wade enjoys taking his guests off the beaten path to hidden places that most people don’t know. Wade took us to two waterfall-fed pools for swimming where we were the only people there. It takes quite a bit of hiking so that is something to consider. My family knew I was out of my comfort zone with the hikes and were very proud of me as I was with myself. We also hiked through a bamboo forest which was cool.

I think John is finally getting over the cough. It has decreased quite a bit the last two days but it has been a long haul. What a reminder from the cruise,

I am glad to report that after my 10 day treatment of antibiotics and my newly acquired puffer and nasal spray has FINALLY conquered my cough....it is soooo nice to finally be able to get a good night's sleep....

I hope all those that have been suffering from this dreaded cough are on the road to recovery!!!
