ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

We checked into the Poly today!!! We were upgraded to TPV. We are in Tuvalu and our view is amazing. I've already had my first dole whip :-).

Sounds like everything is working in your favor, and this is just the beginning!:cool1:

We just got back too! But the best part was that I could see the castle from my bed at night. I watched it change colors till I went to sleep. Priceless!:cloud9:

Exciting trip, I think NOT asking for upgrades is how you get them. I've asked every trip and only received one in 2007 (thankful)! WOW castle at bedtime, special....:cloud9: Glad you had great trip.;)

sorry a head of time if i asked this, but I am going to try your atience once agin:sad2:, Capt cooks CS,i thought I read where Its open 24 hrsIs this true?, if not what time do they open In the morining for breakfast?

Once we get everyone's dates we can choose a date to meet! I can PM you guys my cell # and we can meet in the lounge. :thumbsup2 I love meeting DIS people in person!!!! :grouphug: Looking at my itinerary we should be around the resort several nights, we are at MNSSHP on 10/27, the Luau on 10/29, our first night 10/25 might be good. Even if we all just meet quickly and take a picture it would be cool. :goodvibes

Awesome, although I don't arrive until waaay late:scared1: My dates are 10/29-11/5. On 10/29 while you're at the luau TigrLvsPooh I'm gonna be at O'hana!:woohoo:

I'll be having some PRE luau drinks at the tambu lounge before I'm sure!!! ;)

Almost every time we stay 1 or 2 nights we get upgraded, but if its a longer stay we usually don't. I have asked for upgrades before at check-in, once we were offered CL at the WL for a small fee and took it. It never hurts to ask, the worst thing that can happen is they say no. ;)

On the Grand Floridian Thread, it was just reported that the Seven Seas Lagoon will be drained the week of September 26th for one to two weeks. They are notifying those with weddings that they will not be able to use the Wedding Pavilion. It is unknown how Lagoon View rooms will be re-classified that week:sad2:

It is also being reported here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2789617

ETA: According this morning to one Disney Wedding Planner, it seems that the Lagoon is actually being dredged and not drained and it is the construction noise that they feel would disrupt the weddings and that is why Disney has told them they must change their venue. One bride was offered the top of BLT.

Three more working days after today.. I am about useless right now.. Just check in online for our AKL part of our stay..

Is it common now that they automatically add your credit card? It didnt even give me a choice to remove it only change it to another card..

Have to get a haircut, eyebrows waxed, pedicure, nail fill in and buy some soda for the car and rum for the resort fridge by Fri. Ive already packed DH and my things..We are leaving 430 am Sat morning!

Just got so excited reading your post. Have a fantastic trip!! (we are still 7 1/2 weeks away, so living vicariously through others, but we're getting to the point where I'm getting too excited, if there is such a thing? :rotfl:)

I'm not sure about the credit card. I know they always ask when we book if we want the credit card we are paying with associated with the reservation. Is it possible that's why it was done? :confused3

Okay, here's a question for y'all. Of the many times I've made a building request, I think I've gotten it maybe twice, and this is at relatively low occupancy times. Maybe I'm just unlucky on that count, but I was thinking this time I would make zero requests and finally leave it up to the tiki gods. What has been your experience with this? Am I gonna end up in Rapa Nui or in the giant shrubbery view room? Does a mid-week check-in make a difference? Mahalo in advance.

I dont think so.. I think the CM just did it.. See I always use a different card for spending money during our trips.. It hold the money we saved up specifically for that purpose so I would have told the CM no I didnt want that card saved..Oh well I better check my Poly ressie when we check in to make sure the right card is linked to our KTTK..

Yes, I would just make sure the correct CC is tied to your KTTW card when you check in, that way you know it gets done! ;) I can't wait till your live reports! Excited....:cool1:

I know I will continue to ask, and I realize shorter trips have the advantage! I guess really, I would rather have longer trip over free upgrade. I always tell my DH it never hurts to ask, funny, he gets embarassed-but sure is happy & enjoys it when something great comes from it!:lmao:

We have never left it up to chance - too anal! :rotfl2: But we always get at least part of our request. Maybe you haven't been picky enough! Seriously. Our first Poly trip we requested 3rd floor/Tahiti/connecting rooms. We got 3rd floor/connecting, but in Tuvalu (which we ended up loving!) Last year we requested Tuvalu/3rd floor/connecting and got Tuvalu/3rd floor, but not connecting. Maybe you should add some other things to your request that you would really like (eg. 3rd floor or 1st floor). It seems the room assigners at least try to give you something. I've heard several times to list your requests in order of importance, so the assigner knows what means the most to you wrt the request. Maybe request your longhouse of choice & then add on a floor preference or close to GCH or whatever else would be nice for you to have. That way if you don't get the longhouse you want you may at least get something else to help make up for it. Good luck!

Just saw an Ohana dinner at 6:50 pm for Sept 7th !! I would of gotten it but I would have had to cancel my Park Fare ,DGD would of been very disappointed.
