ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

How do I do a request?
When should I do it? Only about 2 weeks out now.

You need to call Disney so they can put the request on your reservation. You can do it now... you can actually do it when you make your reservation. I do believe you can fax it too but I normally find the request on the reservation is sufficient!:thumbsup2

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but when you say call Disney- do you mean the general # or directly to the Poly.
My DH called last yr and requested a balcony @ BC but I couldn't remember who he called. TIA

hi there everyone...so excited for our first trip to poly next year. its been over 10 years since we were last at wdw and we're so excited i can't stand it. we decided to go with deluxe dining plan next year for greater flexability and more chances to dine at signature restaurants. has anyone eaten at Artist point and can tell me anything about it? also what other high end dining places would you recommend? what builing would you recommend with a balcony that would be centrally located. we have a garden view room thanks in advance.

Artist Point is a must for us every trip. The smokey portobello soup is out of this world, and I don't even like mushrooms. They also have a great cedar plank salmon that rocks, steaks that are awesome. The only downside to me is the plain decor ... just kind of boring, that's all.

Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Just call the central reservation number. Good luck with your request - we've been pretty successful. :)

Sorry but I just had to post this :rolleyes1

Artist Point is excellent. It's now on our must do list. I did a little write up on it with pictures about halfway through this post as part of my last trip report.

We also love the California Grill at the Contemporary, Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian, and Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club. All of which are included in the trip report linked in my signature.

As for centrally located GV rooms with balconies, Samoa and Fiji are pretty much in the center of the property on either side of the marina/pool area. There is a resort map on the first page of this thread!

I hope you have a wonderful trip and have a great time planning it! :goodvibes

I LOVE THAT PHOTO !!!! , MINE SAYS 32 DAYS

Yep, and mine says 55 days!! :cool1: I log on every day just to see it :cloud9: So excited, this trip is with my sister, so I KNOW we'll be having Pina Colavas poolside ;)

Does anyone know how crowded the Polynesian would be around labor day week ? I was just wondering because I have read a few post saying the Poly was to busy, crowded, and noisy.:confused3

I am not logpey but I can answer this! They can bring you anything from the room service menu if you want. She did say she would get your lunch from Captain Cooks but I found it just as easy to go get it ourselves. We did order wings from the room service menu though which was great! :thumbsup2

Yes, I felt the same way, I let Heather (attendant) get me a few drinks at Barefoot Bar but I prefered to grab my own lunch at Capt' Cooks, but she could if you wanted...;)

What a great surprise! Enjoy your trip.

Do any of y'all who have been there real recently have pics of what is going on over on the beach towards the Wedding Pavillion and the GF? I'm booked at the GF for next month and was satisified with that since I could just walk over to get my Lapu Lapu fix, since there were no rooms available at "home", but after reading some of what is closing over on that side of the beach I'm a little nervous about staying over yonder.

I have read that it is a new DVC property. :confused3 I really don't know if that is fact or conjecture. :confused3
