ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

We're here now! We got to the Poly via DME around 12:30. Our room was ready! We got our request - Tokelau 1st floor. We are thrilled! About ready for my 1st Lapu Lapu...!:woohoo:

Lapu Lapu might look pretty, but pina colava tastes better, try one also! ;)

So just 900 extra huh. Well I am paying this now for the Royal Guest River view themed room:

Date Rate per Night
Fri, Feb 24 $ 284.00
Sat, Feb 25 $ 284.00
Sun, Feb 26 $ 240.00
Mon, Feb 27 $ 240.00
Tue, Feb 28 $ 240.00
Wed, Feb 29 $ 240.00
Thu, Mar 01 $ 240.00
Fri, Mar 02 $ 260.00

You think it would be a similar upgrade for me also?

Because the rates i see for Poly are these for the same days:
Date Rate per Night
Fri, Feb 24 $ 780.00
Sat, Feb 25 $ 780.00
Sun, Feb 26 $ 615.00
Mon, Feb 27 $ 615.00
Tue, Feb 28 $ 615.00
Wed, Feb 29 $ 615.00
Thu, Mar 01 $ 615.00
Fri, Mar 02 $ 665.00

But then again we are only staying 4 nights but it was 289.00 a night the regular cost was 385.00 for a garden view. They should have some discounts come out, I have never went during February though. You can check the historical discounts here http://www.mousesavers.com/historicalwdwdiscounts.html
I did see they had this one last year.
1/2/11-4/16/11 20%-40% off room-only discount ("book early and save") for general public . It came out in November 22 of last year.

Hey what the heck are the wdw lines down? I just tried to call them and see about discounts on the poly if we were to change over. But all i get is the guy in Disney official voice saying all circuits are busy call back later.

I called to today to make a fantasmic package ressie and thats what it said to me too :rotfl:

I have always wanted to stay at the Poly ever since I was a kid and saw those cool tiki torches as I went by on the monorail...and today I was able to convince my group of 9 to spend a little more for three garden view rooms at the Poly since we will not be paying for dining! Maybe next time Beach Club!

Anyways, I was looking at the map of the resort to try to find the ideal longhouse to request...
We would like to avoid the possibility of having a second floor room with no balcony and would also like something centrally located. So looking at the map as scanning the profiles, it looks like Tokelau may be ideal. Any downsides about Tokelau that would be useful to know?

BTW, do people have much luck with specific building requests at the Poly anyways?

Tokelau would be a very good choice for you. Centrally located, close to the pool and bus stop. Short walk to TTC, GCH, and the boat launch. :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone. It took a little work on the phone yesterday but I was finally able to get a discounted room for November. At first there was no availability at Poly with the AP rate but the CM said I had a PIN that he would try to use. Again, no availability. I called back a few hours later and was able to get CL for 9 nights, with 2 nights in the Honeymoon Suite. It required 2 separate ressies, but I was able to get the dates I wanted for Food & Wine, Xmas party and Osborne Lights.:banana::banana:

Thanks! :goodvibes I hope you have a great trip too!

That's a bummer they didn't have any CL rooms left. You should definitely ask at check in though. :wizard:

This is our first time staying CL. We are very excited!! I had a PIN for 30% off. Wish it would have been 40%!

I will ask it can't hurt, right?
30% is still a good discount! :)
We did get the 40%- thank God for those discounts!!!

hi there everyone...so excited for our first trip to poly next year. its been over 10 years since we were last at wdw and we're so excited i can't stand it. we decided to go with deluxe dining plan next year for greater flexability and more chances to dine at signature restaurants. has anyone eaten at Artist point and can tell me anything about it? also what other high end dining places would you recommend? what builing would you recommend with a balcony that would be centrally located. we have a garden view room thanks in advance.

They actually have them all over WDW, I had one at CM at the CR as well..

But you have to be careful, I asked other places for Pina Colava and they just gave me Pina Colada --so make sure they understand!;)

Nothing beats a Pina Colava at the volcano pool! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to have mine!;)

Yeah I hope you all have great upcoming trips, I hope to be joining one of the poly guests but we shall see if they get any deals for my family and the time I will be staying in WDW.

Thank you! :goodvibes

I hope you get a great deal and get to the Poly soon! :wizard:

Yeah, excited for you, not long at all!:cool1:

Thanks!! :) It's coming up fast! :cool1:

Never hurts to ask! :thumbsup2

Yeah, 30% is still good. I'll take any discount I can get! ::yes::

We've always dreamed of staying at the Poly, but figured we could never afford it. But with the new AP discount it was only $400 more than Wilderness Lodge, so we're finally going to get to stay there! So excited! :yay:

Now to figure out a room request. We booked Garden View, and it seems that a lot of people like Tokelau. It looks to be a nice central location. This is going to be a great WDW stay!!

LOL! Oh no, I would defanitely send it back..NOt to be mean but..they are just my fave and I would be sooo dissapointed..

They have the Pina Colava in the cocktail menu at most of the restaurants, I think it just boils down to communication problem.. I will be sure to say Pina COOOLAAAVAAA so there is NO misunderstanding!! :rotfl:

logpey?

Quick question about the Cabana! :goodvibes We are renting one for a half day in Oct and I was wondering if your attendant can bring you food from Captain Cook's or Kona Cafe (at an extra charge clearly). We were planning on having lunch in the Cabana.

Thanks!

I am not logpey but I can answer this! They can bring you anything from the room service menu if you want. She did say she would get your lunch from Captain Cooks but I found it just as easy to go get it ourselves. We did order wings from the room service menu though which was great! :thumbsup2

Thanks! We were thinking of Kona's Sticky Wings & Crab Cakes, so it's great to know that we can order those. I think DDad just wants to get a kick out of someone getting a Dole Whip for him :lmao:

Our Cabana day is our "luxury day": 10 - 2 at the Cabana and then a 5pm dinner reservation at Victoria & Albert's :cloud9:
