ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

I was worried when we went for the first time in hurricane season last year (3rd week of September). Turns out we had nothing to worry about and it was great! Of course, you never know but even when they have been affected by hurricanes, Disney makes sure you are safe!



OOOh, where did you get that price???? And what dates? do tell!!!!

It was on the specials at the offical Walt Disney website and it was during labor day week 2011 or in other words next month lol for a garden view.

We were watching YouTube ride videos with the kids over the weekend to see which rides they might like and gauge their reactions. DS (turning 9 next week) measures right at 48" and DD (turning 6 in 4 weeks) is 43" so I think everything that they would want to go on, they will be able to!! DS even said he's game for EE and ToT which I know he will love. So excited to be sharing another vacation at Disney with our children - love seeing how they experience everything.

He really wants to go on Dinosuar, but I have heard about so many bad experiences people have had with little kids on it.

It's hard for me to judge since the last time he went, he got freaked out on PETER PAN of all things, but he is 1.5 years older and a lot braver than he was then, but it still makes me nervous, since he was pretty timid on just about every ride after that on that trip.

My DS was 5 when I took him in Dinosaur and I had to hold his ears the entire ride which meant I couldn't hold on and got jerked around the entire time. It's very loud and intense. You may want to skip it this time if he's sensitive to noise and try it when he's a little older.

anyone been there recently and know what type of autograph books they sell at the poly store.

I was trying to get my DD a princess autograph book they don't seem to sell them online anymore.

Was wondering what if any they sell at the hotels?

Or is the selection better at the parks?

It all depends on the child. My son who had just turned 4 at the time, loved dinosaur. He came off that ride with a big smile on his face and wanted to ride it again. While, our neighbor's son, who is 3 years older, was scared to death.

I DID IT !!! I changed my resort from the POFQ to the POLY !!!!! I requested the Tokelau building. Is that a good choice or not ? I will be arriving Sept 5 th I have never been to the Polynesian, Im so exited !

Yay, congrats!!! In my opinion, the BEST building!! We've stayed in Tokelau 3x and just love it!

I ordered through concierge, they ordered for me from room service, I also ordered one kids snack cone and my total came to 77.00, kinda pricey, Im sure 18 percent gratuity was added also. It was in room when we arrived from HS the first night! Amanda and Craig (Hawaii CL) helped order for me..

You're welcome, I love my POLY fix too. Its hard to believe my trips over. I'm sad, but also happy about Aulani in February.

Dh told me to take kids to WDW in March on Spring Break 2012 and get use of my annual pass---so that makes it easier knowing I will be going again real soon. It will be my first trip to WDW without DH, he won't be able to get time off after Hawaii, it will be interesting to say the least.

Great pics! It's great seeing the cabana, it makes me so happy I rented one for our up coming trip!
