ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

ok...so the closer it gets to our trip the more nervous I get :worried:

We have always gone to Disney either...

I would take the girls out of school in early May or we would go between Christmas day though New Years day

For our honeymoon....years and years ago :lmao: we went the 1st week of Dec

So....this will be our first trip during HURRICANE season

My DDs both live in Houston, the DH and I in NOLA ....so we have not one... but three places to worry about :scared1:

Thanks again!! I would like to stay in the Hawaii, or Samoa sounds great!! But I can't talk my mom into being close to either pool, she thinks it would be noisy. (she's real sensitive to noise)

You have to be CL for Hawaii! I am also sensitive to noise with my insomnia and the only time I heard something was the water pageant one time. Maybe someone can recommend something more secluded.

Does anyone know if BOUTIKI sells simple MICKEY tshirts..like this

I wanted to buy 4 for family photos...but hoped to not have to pay shipping.

Wish I could go online before my trip and KNOW what the store at the resort had on sale...Does anyone know if I can? :confused3

I think they sale the grey Mickey t-shirts against the back wall in Boutiki, if not, I know the Contemporary resort does and Magic Kingdom!

We have stayed in Hawaii and Samoa. We never had any issues with noise, even when we were on the first floor of Samoa near the pool.

I have went during hurricane season 4 different times. Really all I worry about when I go is rain lol. I will be going this year during hurricane season also. Last year it only rained once for about 30 minutes. It usually rains at least one or 2 days for only a short time when we are there, except that one day I remember back in 2001 it rained and rained during one day of our trip. So dont worry you will be fine.

Is there a path from the Poly to the Grand Floridian, if so how long does it take to walk there ?

Yes, and I've walked that route plenty and enjoyed it, about 10 minutes walking slowly, brisk walk 5 minutes when I was almost late for Spa appt!

I will be posting POLY pics soon, I also have pics of that route l!;)

I looked on FAQ pages but didn't see a recent schedule.

Does anyone know the movies schedule for August?
How long of a walk is it to the GF beach? (that's where the movies are right?)
What time do they start?
TIA

I only have July's schedule and the movies are now right at the POLY beach in front of the Barefoot Bar and pool! Grand Floridian also has their own movies, last yr the POLY and Grand shared in between beaches, but this yr they have their own. We enjoyed Toy story 3 and loved it..

Oh good I would love to see the pics

Is 289.00 a night a good price for low season or has anyone gotten the Poly for less ?

I was worried when we went for the first time in hurricane season last year (3rd week of September). Turns out we had nothing to worry about and it was great! Of course, you never know but even when they have been affected by hurricanes, Disney makes sure you are safe!

OOOh, where did you get that price???? And what dates? do tell!!!!

I'm so jealous of everyone leaving soon - have wonderful trips!!

Question - has anyone recently taken a taxi from the Poly back to the airport at the end of their stay? I'm trying to figure out the $$ for that. We're thinking about getting a rental car - but really just want it for the trip back to the airport (ME picks up a little too early, and visits too many other resorts - we're planning a short trip and want to max our time at the parks :thumbsup2.) Any ideas??

I recommend a town car. It's about 65.00 for a one way trip. I've used *********** and Tiffany Town Car -- both were good.

Thanks for the info. So glad to hear they now have their own movies-that's the way it should have been all along. :thumbsup2

Do they have movies every night?

Hello Poly Fans!:goodvibes
I am in the early stages in planning a March 2012 vacation to the Poly! It will be over DD20's 21st birthday weekend! My DD20 and I are planning this together. Her dream resort has always been the Poly, and now we will finally be staying there! We are looking at March 1-5, 2012. We are going for a week in January, so we will just go for a quick girls weekend trip in March. Traveling with DD20 and I will be DD18 and DD9. DH will be staying home, so we can make this a girls trip! It was DD20's idea to also make this a surprise trip for DD9!!!
As you can probably tell, we are very excited! We are torn between staying CL or not. We will definitely be staying theme park view, whether it is CL or not.
Is there anything special that, if we stay CL, the Poly can do for DD's 21st birthday? I am going to probably be booking today or tomorrow.
Thanks all, I look forward to reading up on this thread!
Lauren

For special events I know CL goes around and drops off Poly cards and a chocolate bar covered in a pic of the Poly. I think if you want anything more youll have to contact disneyflorist.com

We use a limo service for the same reason- ME too early!!
Last yr. was our first time doing this. We used Happy Limo b/c of the discount from AllEars. There are lots of limo co. out there and have heard a lot are good the ones I've heard of are Happy limo, ***********, and Tiffany. I think they are pretty close in cost. It's almost the same price as a taxi!! good luck! :)

HHmmmm....I suppose it depends on whether or not the Lapu Lapus are full or EMPTY!!!!!! if the later is the case, all bets are off on timing because you would probably be walking in circles:rotfl2: Although, because you will be invisible by that point, you won't actually embarrass yourself:cool2:

IF you keep your GF ressie(which I have my doubts given your track record--LOL) you must make sure to snoop and snap pictures of any top-secret work going on behind those construction walls.

This is my new mantra...

"I will not change again, I will not change again, I will not change again...unless the Poly opens up...I will not change again..." :rotfl:

I should just know better than to try to book anywhere else. Seriously. I always come back "home".

Thanks for the info! We may just end up renting a car, as I found a $22/day rate at Thrifty - since we're only staying 4 days, that's $88! I've also gotten spoiled the last few years - we've been driving down, and it's so nice to have your own car. Definitely keeping the limo service in mind, though :thumbsup2

I love this! The last time we were there they shared. Thanks for the info. Hope you are having a great time!:thumbsup2

PAID IN FULL yesterday!!!! (well, except for all the goodies we will buy once we're there!) Excitement is really starting to build now!

We were watching YouTube ride videos with the kids over the weekend to see which rides they might like and gauge their reactions. DS (turning 9 next week) measures right at 48" and DD (turning 6 in 4 weeks) is 43" so I think everything that they would want to go on, they will be able to!! DS even said he's game for EE and ToT which I know he will love. So excited to be sharing another vacation at Disney with our children - love seeing how they experience everything. :goodvibes
