ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Hello everyone.!

Well I made my reservations for BLT one bedroom villa. Did all the research. Watched videos posted by YouTube members. Checked out all the amenities. Subscribed to the FAQ for CR and then was accosted by my wife and teens. "WE WANT TO STAY AT THE POLY AGAIN"! If I wanted to live to see another day, I had to make yet another phone call and listen to the "are you sure you want to change your resort" from the WDW Travel.

Here I am again.. we know the resort so well that we could check in, get a bite to eat, and go for a swim while sleeping.

Here is my long winded subscribe post.

Hey Carl! Welcome back! DD (almost 11) has already declared the she will stay nowhere but the Poly and Club level as well

Carl! (snicker) I can't believe it! And I don't blame you a bit! I do love the Polynesian as much as your sweet family does. What will happen to your "going to CR in June thread" though? Just curious.

Hi Carl! I know what you mean. We stayed at VWL last May and it was nice but I really missed the Poly. I was lucky enough to go again last year in October. This year, I am planning a big family trip so we are staying at a moderate (probably CBR) and then my DH will come for a long weekend but I am thinking of trying a new resort We were thinking BWI so we could be near Epcot. Not sure when I'll get back to the Poly, but I always will

All my Poly peeps know how much I love to stay in touch, whether or not I have a Poly trip planned. I'm also thinking we need a photo to remind us of what it is all about -

See!! The Poly is an addiction!! I think they add something to the "smellinator"!

I am going to maintain it with all the love and care that I would who's going to the poly in June. We will just be a very short ride on the monorail. Heck we are neighbors! So I dedicated myself to it.. I am going to see it through.

We are considering a stay at poly for first time this fall. We have stayed at WL and GF prior. My five year old son saw the poly on monorail and the tiki torches...he has spoken of little else since. Ha!

My question is which longhouse should I request should I be lucky enough to have the request granted! And any to try and avoid....

Our priorities...

Clean, updated room. two sinks a bonus...
Location to monorail and ttc (we come back for naps and will spend 2 days at Epcot, 3 at MK, 1 at HS)

We will not use pool.

we would do garden view based on budget!

I know you have gotten the Tahiti recommendation but just wanted to note something about the 2 sinks vs. 1 sink. While I prefer 2 sinks, I actually like all the counter space we get with only having 1 sink. Not sure if that is a consideration for you, but just thought I'd mention that. And the bathrooms are nice because there is a full vanity top (where some of the bathrooms at Disney resorts only have foot sinks and such). You'll still have room with the 2 sinks but if you want a lot of counter space, 1 sink is great.

Make sure to check out Tikiman's site because his descriptions of the longhouses can not be beat!

I agree!! 100%! You really can't get two little ones in front of that mirror at the same time anyways. Much less two adults..

Another thing I would like to note. You mentioned up to date rooms. The poly has been maintained with love and care but the hard goods have been there for a very long time. I.E. beds, dressers, TV stand.. Etc.. The soft goods I.E blankets, mattress, blinds have been replaced.
This resort is set up as a Hawaiian village with wear. The rooms are clean and beautiful but they are not new like the GF. (I just don't want you to go thinking the Poly rooms will be like the foo foo rooms of the GF) and if they do change the decor to the foo foo stuff I am staying elsewhere!

Someone posted yesterday about how hard it would be to get through the next 200- and some odd days til their trip, and well, all I can say is - it will FLY BY!!! We started our countdown at nearly 300 days, and we are now in the low, low 80's!!!! I can't believe it!! Working on my trip journal/notebook and adding to-dos' like crazy!!!

Order water!!! What to pack!!! What's left to buy!!! EEKKKK!!! Is anyone else as excited as I am!?!?!?!?

Someone posted yesterday about how hard it would be to get through the next 200- and some odd days til their trip, and well, all I can say is - it will FLY BY!!! Yeah we are a lil more than you. Already have some of the suitcases down, brought them down last night. I myself am shopping for some Heys Luggage. I love their hard-shells. We had a little Disney Trivia this morning. That is about it.

I am happy to hear that you have seen the err of your ways. You could really come to the dark side and stay out at EPCOT--oh wait, you really need to get those children grown first and join us out that way for an adults only trip! J/K--you know how much we love the Polynesian. . .
