We just called and "Stu" said both the Polynesian and Grand Floridian pools will be closed during our time. Just sick to my stomach...

Oh no...that is such a sickening feeling when the Poly isn't cheap! Are you going to switch resorts??

What pool did he say resort quests could use?

only one pool at the GF will be closed at same time as Poly's volcano pool. The beach pool and new alice in wonderland splash area and beach pool bar will al be open at GF.

Will POLY quests be allowed to use it though?

This is a great thread! We are booked at Poly during July 4th. :cool1: I have read the beach gets crowded for the fireworks. Any idea how early we will need to be on the beach in order to watch the fireworks on July 4th?

they have been in the past during similar pool shut downs. just as recently GF guests (from what I've been told) have been allowed to use Poly pool when the main GF pool was closed.

So we surprised the kids at midnight last night for our upcoming trip.
We had a Mardi Gras theme they popped a balloon filled with confetti which had a note that led them to the jester which had the trip info. But what we didn't tell them is after 2nights at POR we are heading to their favorite resort Poly for 6 nights. We are going to surprise them on that day !!

Hello to my fellow Polynesian Resort fans! :wave2:

(Not sure if anyone remembers me, but this thread has been my favorite place on the DIS in years past).

Well I try to not visit here unless/until I have a WDW trip planned, but tonight, I just couldn't help it. :hyper:

GuitarRob: AWESOME, EXCELLENT THREAD!! :worship:

I was just looking through the first few posts, at the gorgeous pictures, and immediately I felt that old familiar urge to want to go "home" to the Polynesian. :cloud9:

This past year we took a 9-night Disney cruise, but our last WDW trip was in 2010. I am in serious withdrawal here!! :lmao:

I'm going to go back and continue browsing this terrific thread and see what's new at my favorite place; thanks to all who have contributed. :surfweb:

Edited to add: How could I forget?! We actually were at WDW and had breakfast and dinner at the Polynesian (Kona Cafe and 'Ohana) this past June, while on a port day in Port Canaveral during our DCL cruise (it sailed out of NYC). So really, I *have* been to the Polynesian within the past 6 months, but we didn't STAY there, so I forgot about it. LOL

Welcome back SeaSpray! :wave2:
Hope you find yourself planning a Poly trip sometime soon!

We were first floor Samoa 12/2-12/8 and it was wonderful. Of course our view was pool level so construction at GF was no problem. There was work being done on the quiet pool side of Samoa. The entire longhouse was blocked off on that side as was Niue. Our stay at Poly was amazing as always and I can't wait to return!

We are in the car! 4 hours away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 1st floor Samoa!! We have 3 kids so the patio gives us a little extra space. It's also a great spot for a cocktail after we put the kids to bed.

We have only stayed in Samoa but I think if they don't have us in a first floor room we might see if we can get a patio in any building??

Drive safely, and post pictures! I'm getting excited for our trip, now that we're in 2013!

Have a great trip! Tokelau is also a favorite on the quiet pool side.

So I'm booked at the Poly for March 11-18, and just heard that the pool will be closed through the 1st of March. Any experience if things usually stay on schedule?

Thanks so much!
Mo

Just put my request in for Samoa, ground floor, volcano pool side yesterday. We'll see what they can do for us! We go 1/24. Woohoo.

Hope you have a great time.

Sounds like Samoa is the way to go....we had requested it for our March stay but then found out it is under renovations starting in February :(

We picked Toleaku as our new choice....good choice??

so my dh decided to upgrade our poly room to TPV and it isnt available for our dates. Is it an upgrade worth paying for if I can get it?

Samoa or Tokelau in June? And which side is best to request? Request Fiji but they r remolding when I'm there
