Thanks... We have actually never been to Ohana. I booked it for our upcoming December trip. Should we skip it and go for the first time once the construction is done?

I'd go! The construction is a shame but that won't stop us from going in two weeks to our fav restaurant. Once you're in Ohana it will be the same ( well minus the chicken & salad lol ). Plus it's not the easiest reservation to secure! Enjoy

We did the 'Ohana breakfast on June 13th and it was super fun. The lounge area at that time was minimally affected. The views from the restaurant were still lovely.

Can anyone who has been at the Poly recently confirm if the laundry room is open or not? I thought I read awhile back that it has reopened, but I can't find that post so I wanted to double check.

Thanks!

We are at the poly now and the laundry room is open :)

Is the monorail down right now due to the construction??? Next month we are staying at Shades of Green for a few nights along with our DVC stay at OKW and we love to walk to the Poly to ride the monorail to MK.

Still running with reduced hours - starts a little later and ends a little earlier. There was one day when it wasn't running as scheduled but they provided extra busses.

I'm really surprised the resort isn't shut down too. We walked through and were aghast! If I were staying there it would TOTALLY ruin my vacation. I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just trying to warn someone so it won't ruin their vacation.

We are visiting WDW in late January/early February 2015. We currently have CBR reserved, however, if I can snag a good deal on the Polynesian, I might be able to convince DH to make the switch.

Are there any good deals that have been released for the Poly currently that are more than normal because of the construction? For example, if the Fall discount is normally 35%, are they offering 40% off for the Poly?

Thanks!!

We just returned from Hawaii building a few days ago! We loved it and didn't feel the impact of all the work going on there, except for the bungalow construction but we enjoy watching that progress. I will post pictures as soon as I download them to photobucket. We had 3rd floor TPV and it was amazing. We are used to 1st floor TPV, so this was very different to us. We did miss not being able to go right from our room to the beach, but instead we had a perfect view of the Castle and Wishes from the 3rd floor!
We might have been neighbors, lol. We spent a week in third floor TPV then moved to the Tonga building (suite!). We came home July 8th. Although the suite was amazing, and still had the TPV castle/fireworks view, we missed the big sky and lake view from Hawaii. :goodvibes We always stay 3rd floor, the view is really fantastic.

We were in room 3514. Did you notice on July 5 the beautiful fireworks show around 10:00ish? We thought maybe it was at HS for the Frozen things they were starting that day/night, but wasn't sure if it was the right direction and plus it seemed so close. It was a bonus to see Wishes and then later on see another show so clearly (off to the right).

A few comments:
We didn't mind the walls up in the GCH. We thought they did a good job at trying to "decorate" the walls:

We were in 3517 for the first week, but by July 5th we had moved into the suite in the Tonga building, and you can't see too far to the right from there due to the volcano. (Honestly, that's the only downside to the suites, the Tonga building is in the marina area so while you still have a great view of the castle and Wishes, you don't have the big wide view of the whole lake area.)

I think the fireworks you saw would have been at sea world or universal. Hollywood Studios would be more behind you. I notice every night about the same time as wishes you see a flash of lower fireworks off to the right, maybe whatever park that is had bigger fireworks on July 5th(?)

I love the premium cabana, we didn't do it this trip, and I'm sad to think it won't be the same after they remodel that area. It's perfect the way it is, lol.

Was curious, does the club level lounge have kona coffee? And also, do they have either of the Kona Brewing company beers (Longboard, or Fire Rock Pale Ale) I'm sure I've had those beers at Kona Café. Just wondered if any of those were offerings at the CL Lounge? No worries, just curious.

I've always seen Longboard. I'm not sure about Fire Rock.

Edit: I thought I had pictures of the beer at Poly, but unfortunately the pictures are of the beer at BC -- we did split stay between BC CL and Poly CL. Sorry!

No worries, the idea that anything from the Kona Brewing company would be in the CL lounge does give me more reason to want to stay there.

Anyone know if the coffee in the CL lounge is Kona coffee, or Joffreys?

No Kona coffee in CL--it was always Nescrape when that contract was valid. I would guess it has gone to Joffreys, but only someone who has been there recently would know. I haven't seen any pictures lately of the coffee dispenser. :confused3
