The coffee is definitely nothing to write home about--nothing worth noticing like Kona. I usually get a double espresso and then fill the cup the rest of the way with 'regular' coffee.

The beers I remember (just got back two weeks ago) were Yuengling, Bud Light, Longboard, and Heineken. I have a picture, but it's from Tonga where the beer is in a fridge, so one other brand might be hiding in the photo (on the far left side maybe). I will have to ask dh if he remembers another beer, but I think that's it.
(disclaimer, you will not find all of the stuff in the fridge in the Hawaii building, but the beers are the same)

We are visiting WDW in late January/early February 2015. We currently have CBR reserved, however, if I can snag a good deal on the Polynesian, I might be able to convince DH to make the switch.

Are there any good deals that have been released for the Poly currently that are more than normal because of the construction? For example, if the Fall discount is normally 35%, are they offering 40% off for the Poly?

Thanks!!

The chance of getting a discount for late January/early February is pretty good, but unfortunately, Disney doesn't usually give deeper discounts due to construction. With that said, I hope a good discount comes out for your dates and you are able to switch as the Poly is a great resort :wizard:.

It's nice to see a few of you reporting you had a good time staying in Hawaii! We leave next Sunday and spend most of our time there. The pool would have been nice but we'll prob spend as much time in the GF lobby as the GCH anyway. Here's to hoping it's a good trip! :)

I've always seen Longboard. I'm not sure about Fire Rock.

It will be a great trip! :goodvibes

Hello!!! We are planning a trip in August 2015. I have never been to Poly only seen pictures. It reminds me of Aulani. We were there 2 years ago. It is my hope to stay there next summer. Any opinions on room categories? I know nothing and would love to know more about them. Including buildings. Do you request buildings or are different room categories in different buildings? Thanks for the help :-)

I would suggest checking out the first page of this thread and especially post #3. I feel all of your questions will be answered after that. :thumbsup2

No Kona coffee in CL--it was always Nescrape when that contract was valid. I would guess it has gone to Joffreys, but only someone who has been there recently would know. I haven't seen any pictures lately of the coffee dispenser. :confused3

That reminds me- for those of you who recently stayed in Hawaii, did the lounge finally switch over from the Nescafé machines? Would be nice if they had the Nespresso like GF.

I was there 5/30-6/4. They had the "machine" for coffee and espresso but also had coffee in carafes too. The carafe coffee was very good.

They were not good about keeping paper cups for to-go coffee, so if not out, just ask!

Also dd ran to cap cooks and got tonga toast to-go and brought back to lounge. That was nice to add to the rest of the offerings.

Thank you!!!! I appreciate the response. It did answer all my questions. Now I want to stay there even more then before!!!! :-)

Thinking of staying here over New Years. I'm worried about what the lobby might look like during that time...I don't mind some construction, but I want to be able to look at the pretty scenery!

Not sure what pretty scenery will be left in the lobby after the remodel. If you are talking about outside and the beach, that's a little different. Tikiman's page explains what has happened so far, and I think what the ultimate plan is. However, I'm not sure if it has accurate time tables for when things will happen.

We'll be there in about a week. It won't be the same resort that I fell in love with and dreamed about as a child, or even saw as an adult a couple of years ago. So, don't let me ruin it; read Tikiman's page and judge for yourself.

DH and I will be staying at the Poly next week. Can anyone recommend a longhouse for me to request? TIA!

Can Poly rooms sleep 3 adults, 1 five year old, and 2 two year olds? Sorry if this has been asked before!

Yes. But there will be a $25 per night extra adult fee.

Yes. We will have 3 adults, a 3 year old and 1 year old. It's $25 extra a night for the adult.

5 more days till our stay in Hawaii! This used to be such a lively thread- funny what some construction can do! If this is representative of the amount of people who kept their resort bookings we may have the Poly to ourselves lol :)

We will be there at the end of August, and by the sounds of this thread and a Facebook group I'm on, I think we will have the place to ourselves too!

We'll be arriving on August 1st. Will you still be there then?
