What are the potential discounts or the info about them? We are planning to be there in Dec but I've held out on booking. I'm discouraged about the construction but a discount might sway me ;) thanks!

I don't think anyone would know that yet. You can look at the chart of historical discounts on Mousesavers.com to get an idea of past discounts for your dates.

Ah, ok. So people are just talking about the regular discounts given for this time period and not something special due to the construction?

Correct. Disney is not in the habit of offering any discounts just because a resort is under going rehab/construction.

Just checked in to the Poly (sitting in the club lounge until the room is ready) and the lobby waterfall is flowing full force! Beautiful! Looking out the lounge windows, I can see the new villas that are being built (over the water!) They look like they're going to be amazing.

Not when people will pay their regular pricing. I get it. Why should they offer any additional discount :confused3 I just thought a few people mentioned some kind of construction discount a page or two back so my ears perked up :)

I think someone did mention that because I think I asked for more info but I don't think that person followed up -- I'll have to scroll back and check:thumbsup2.

eemaxx -- we were just there last week and we miss it so much! What room view did you book? We booked TPV and were given 1st floor, but they ended up crediting us the difference between LV and TPV so I *think* they may have changed the category or at least be in the process of changing categories.

We were in 1503 and this was our view:

While you can see the Castle in between 2 roofs, really it just isn't a TPV anymore. So sad because this was an awesome view last 4th of July:(.

Thank you thank you for that information!!!! Sure up it is still running on May 18th or at the least May 14th. Got our fingers crossed. Does any one know if the lobby waterfall is conncected to the one outside and are they both connected to the one that runs under the footbridge? Sine we have never been there I am not even quite sure where these waterfall are or how thwey are set up and could use other peoples information on them. Is there any other areas were they is a concentration of tropical flowers?

According to Tikiman's facebook page they put up some barricades around some of the outside entrance - Whether or not that's the start of construction on the waterfall or some other repair work remains to be seen.

I'm out at DW (but not staying at Poly) the weekend of June 6 so hopefully everything will still be intact so I can get some last photos/video.

I'm so sad. That was our favorite area to stay. We loved bottom floor Hawaii for the view. It always made me so happy looking out the glass door at the view of the castle, it felt magical.:sad::sad:

I called today to check on our reservation for the 20 minute photo session at the Poly. I was told some great news!!! The lady at the photograaphy studio said that she did not think the water fall would be take down until June. She said she could not make any promises but that was the word that was going around. She said the photgraphers are there very often and this was the information that was going around. Now I know this could change tomorrow and that it is just hear say but it does at least give me hope. We are exactly three weeks out from a our sceduled photo session so I have my fingers crossed. She did tell me that the waterfall is the meeting place for the photo shoot and that if that changes they will notify my by email. So I guess we will just have to see how it goes.

Good to know I arrive 5/30. A few days are better than none:thumbsup2

I know, us too! We kept that room, partly for sentimental reasons, but also because my girls love walking out onto the beach right from our room. It will be different next trip because we'll be requesting 3rd floor for TPV. I sure hope 2nd floor is not considered TPV because we really want a balcony....

I drag my darling husband to the World every year, and he never complains. He just sighs and asks if maybe next year we could stay at Poly. He's put up with CR (2x), WL (4x), POR (2x), Swan & dolphin, CSR, YC, & ASM. So this year I'm finally looking into Poly... but all those threads about pool renovations have me slightly freaked out. Give it to me straight:

Is there any chance the volcano pool will be available - even if it's just for pictures - by late Oct 2014?

Very doubtful. Last I saw Tikiman & WDW said it would be closing in July 2014 & not re-opening until spring 2015. Even with a delay, I think October 2014 will see it closed. :(

We are staying there arriving May 24th - am I going to be disappointed due to the construction? Also we were thinking of requesting Samoa so our kids (13 & 9) are close to pool, what do you recommend?

We are requesting Samoa for our July vacation since we aren't staying CL this time. Samoa is a great location but if you want to be away from all construction I would request Tuvalu or Fiji. But Samoa has pools on both sides so it has great views IMO. We love the Poly and feel the benefits of staying there - great location, beautiful grounds, big rooms, two pools, great QS, 2 TS restaurants and wonderful transportation options- outweigh any inconvenience of construction.

I can't remember the last time I was at WDW when something we liked wasn't being refurbished. It just makes it all the more fun to see what's changed since our last visit. But my opinion is if you set yourself up to be disappointed you will be. No one can answer that for you. I hope you have a magical vacation!
