Just stayed in Hawaii room 1516 (second from the end of the hallway). We paid for a Garden View room but were pleasantly surprised with a Lagoon View room. Yes, we saw green construction walls from our first floor patio room, but we also saw the beach, lagoon, electrical parade, fireworks, and progress of the new, BEAUTIFUL villas being built. We couldn't see the castle directly from our room due to construction of the villas, but we were expecting a garden view anyway, so this was all wonderful!!

We will be checking in in few hrs - I hope something magical will happen to our family too.:)

Thanks for posting. Can i ask were you there during the day and if there was any construction noise? Had you put in any room requests?

I have plans for my trip to Disney this year (early/mid October) and also next year (early April) and since The Polynesian was the first resort I stayed in when I was young, I always like to go for a meal or at least a drink whenever I go. I am assuming that October will still see the lobby under construction? But what about April of next year? Think the lobby & Trader Sams will be open by then? If not I'll go have my usual lapu lapu upstairs anyway. Just curious, thanks.

We're heading to the Poly tomorrow. Mixed feelings about going back with construction. Best I've heard is that the resort is less crowded. Hoping for Samoa. Stayed at Tokelau last time and really loved it. Thanks for the updates to all - we're hoping for the best. Given all the construction it almost seems as if they should have just closed it and worked like crazy for a few months versus all the inconvenience. Any recent intel is much appreciated.

Have a great time! Can you give us an update on if the laundry room is still closed? Thanks! Pixie Dust that you get Samoa-we've requested it also.

A friend was talking to a customer relations CM a couple of months ago and that was the CM's opinion, that they should have just shut the resort down, but they won't because they know people will still stay there despite the construction.

Have a magical trip. Good luck with your request! We stayed in Samoa on our last trip and loved the location! (third floor, facing the volcano pool)

I stayed at the Poly when I was really small I think about 4 or 5 years old so I don't remember much from that trip. Now many trips later I feel sad that it's the end of an era. Gone is one of the most beautiful sites Disney has on property. The Poly was my favorite resort, now not so much. My DH fav is The WL, I think it's mine also, now. Some things are perfect the way they are and everything does not have to be upgraded!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to come on this thread, I was just on the Disney Blog
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...esian-resort-include-a-nostalgic-name-change/
ugggh, I added my name to the 74 others. I am outraged that they are removing the waterfall. This is not progress, or change for the better. This is magic lost, the new lobby rendering is sad and basic-not special at all.

I am so sad, as I truly love the Poly! The Poly was a bucket list hotel for me for the longest time and then I got to stay there. I lived on this thread then, and it lived up to my dream. Ugggh, I will end my rant...so sad about this change!:sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

So is the waterfall still there? We leave in nine days so just checking.

Does anyone have the May activities guide/schedule? Thank you.

Sorry, I looked around and found the movies but not activities.

I am hoping for that view too:goodvibes

Pool due to be completed 3/31/15 but ya never know. GCH construction has already started but I haven't seen a completion date. It does look like they are only doing some things at a time so the whole thing not out of commission. You should be ok in April for something to be be open.

It was turned off then turned back on last month. It is due to shut off again soon and it will be close wether or not you see it. Tikiman's facebook page has the best current info. You can google it and peek even if you don't have a FB account.

My two cents. I don't Hate the new GCH concept art. Of course it will never be the same but it has some good points to offset the loss of the waterfall. My bigger issue is the change of so much of the property to dvc and the removal of much of the view from Hawaii because of the bungalows. I do not want to go during construction and I fear that with less non dvc inventory that we may not be able to afford to stay at this resort anymore. Seems to me like disney is choosing the dvc patrons over the non dvc ones. Frustrating.

Rant over. Planning my next trip may resume. Think we are going to try Beach Club

I know what you mean.

As a family with teens we loved the addition of BLT and VGF :cloud9: the 1/2 br options are so much better than trying to get connecting rooms.

This however is frustrating, less rooms for resort, less beach area and views, and no cash res. available so more difficult for me to stay since non dvc.

I honestly don't care if waterfall gone. However losing the volcano, THAT's a different story. Dd and I heading down soon for last trip before all is changed.

I just hate change lol. I loved the Poly the way it was. Hopefully I can re adjust.

I was aware of this but have been checking weekly to see if the waterfall is still up and running. I ahve not seen anything mentioned lately about the waterfall on Tikimans page except the concept images.

Any one that is there now could you tell me if it is indeed still up and running. We are getting very close to our trip now and hope we make it before they turn it off or take it down. I plan on checking the night before we leave as well. It would really stink if it closes so close to our trip.

Here now and I have to say I am super impressed with the club level lounge and staff. They are continuously refilling items, cleaning the floors and making sure that all guests are satisfied. I was worried at first, but I have to say that this has made for an even more amazing trip.

.

How is the construction noise near Hawaii? Are you on GV or LV side?

Thanks!

I saw a post on another thread where poster said they had room rates under $200 a night! I would very much like to know how to obtain these rates.
Currently have reservations for June at WL woods view room and also reservation for mid-Oct. club level. Would love to return to Poly instead but I just can't see paying such high rates with so much construction and no pool, but would consider returning at $200 per. night.
