Will you share the link you're looking at on tripadvisor? I don't see any complaints of bedbugs. I read a few weeks ago (I think on this board) of a couple that had bedbugs but Disney handled it very well. Still, gross!

Shelly, can't share the link as DIS won't let me because I am a mew member. If you read the 'terrible' reviews on tripadvisor there is 3 within the first 20 reviews...
I took note of the room #'s and will be sure to ask for a different room and even long house if it is given to us.

Poly Vacation 9/14-9/21!!!!!

Unless you see actual pictures please take these reports with a grain of salt. There are people who get peeved with a resort because they didn't do something or other that they think the resort should have done and they "get back" at the resort by posting stuff like this. I have stayed at the Poly many times as well as many other of the Disney properties and I have never ever come in contact with them. We seriously have taken 35 trips to Disney in the last 19 years and I have never seen them ever in any of the resorts.

To be fair bedbugs don't discriminate they are in any hotel deluxe or not. There was some bedbugs at Poly in the summer, I read a few reports here. Disney immediately will move you, have all your luggage and clothes fumigated cleaned as well as the room plus give you money and a ride to buy your family new clothes and pjs for a day, that's more than most hotel chains would ever do.

Pop, asmu, POR, BC, Poly, AKL, Assp have all had reports of bedbugs in last 6 month it's just important to check your bed immediately when you first get in it before unpacking or anything!

Some ppl have booked Pop for first night stay then moved to CBR or BWI and been as to use them for the remainder of their trip, I think it all depends on the person checking you in a d the luck if the draw..

Thanks bluejasmine,

My husband is especially concerned and this morning I was looking at all resort reviews and did see mention of bed bugs in other resorts. Like I said I did note the room #'s listed and will not take one of those rooms no matter what, but we will also check our room as soon as we get it. I am very excited to stay at the Poly, my husband is nervous because of these reviews. I pointed out to him that out of 1400 reviews only 45 were terrible and none being in the past month. We've just worked so hard for this vacation he doesn't want to be dissappointed.

I am looking forward to a wonderful vacation!

Before I stayed at the Poly, I too was worried about the negative reviews on TripAdvisor.

I think most of the negative reviews result from people who are expecting a Four Seasons type experience because they're paying Four Seasons prices. If you go in with those expectations, you'll likely be disappointed.

But if you realize that you're mostly paying for the convenience of being within walking distance of Monorails to the two main Disney parks combined with a unique, relaxing, Brady Bunch goes to Hawaii, kitschy ambiance then you're much less likely to be disappointed (especially if you happen to like a unique, relaxing, Brady Bunch goes to Hawaii, kitschy ambiance:goodvibes).

Lets face it, when it comes to any Disney deluxe resort, you're not paying those ridiculous prices to get the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. You're paying those ridiculous prices to get a Hilton or Sheraton with convenient location and fun, immersive theming.

The key with bedbugs is to look at the hotel's policy to deal with them, not whether they have had them or not. Disney has the best bedbug policy bar none so do a check before entering, then enjoy your vacation.

My family and I were at the Poly 7/25-8/1, and I can't honestly think of one compliant! It was the best week of our lives! Even my DH who was always so/so about WDW is constantly trying to save money so we can get back. We LOVE the Poly!! We had high expectations going in and it met all of them and exceded most of them!

The thing is you have to keep it in perspective. Disney can not control if there guests bring bed bugs into their rooms. Just like if you have a guest in your home, no matter how clean it is, if some one brings them in there is nothing you can do to stop it. Where the exceptional customer service comes into play is what happens after the bed bugs have been spotted. Disney will go out of there way to ensure the experience wil not ruin the "magic" for the rest of your trip. That is why you are paying the high prices. There are always factors that are going to be out of Disney's control (ex: what other guests do) but Disney goes above and beyond to keep it from affecting your trip. It is clique but Disney treats every customer like their most important customer.

I have helped friends plan vacations and when they go into it thinking I am paying tons of money for this trip so it better be perfect they almost always come home disappointed. Think of it this way instead I am going to WDW for an experience that I can not get anywhere else and on top of that I will also get amazing customer sericve!

We were just there this past weekend and there were no bedbugs to be found. (And trust me, if there were, I would know it as I apparently attract bugs like a light zapper. My family dealt with a bedbug infestation when I was a teen, and I was covered in bites from head to toe.)

I travel with a small LED light to check the mattresses and room for any sign of bugs. Just got back this week and I have to say, the room was spotless. Also, the linens are white, so it makes it easier to see any signs. Our stay was perfect, love the new room designs and can't wait to go back.

Can you see the monorail from ground floor rooms in Rarotonga? My son is obsessed with trains and would love to just sit and watch the monorail, but we've found ground floor is easier with a stroller. I'll deal with the elevator if we need to do second floor to give him a good view.

We stayed in Rarotonga room 1815 and we could see the monorail. We loved the location! It is ground floor at the very end of the building, so steps from the bus stop!

Here now and I honestly have no complaints. And the first room we checked into had no a/c. Went to gch and was moved in minutes. No need to change cards either. Worked right away. In Tokelau 3910. No bedbugs. Gv but I can see the beach and water and the castle when it us lit up at night.

the view of the lake thru the trees. Yes, I know. Barely.

That's a great SV view! Before we decided to stay CL I had requested Tokelau, and I think that would have been a wonderful choice. Enjoy!! :flower3:

We are just getting back into our normal routine after such a wonderful trip to the Poly. I had a great time and I'll be sure to post pictures once I get them uploaded. Hope everyone who is at the Poly now or going soon has a great trip!

FWIW, a CM just told me that Tahiti would be reopening a week from tomorrow.

Is anyone going to be around to check it out?
