ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

They have a fridge stocked with soda and water and you get a fruit basket. But if you are staying CL you already have a fridge stocked with soda and you can ask for water. So for you.. You get nothing that you dont already have free.:rotfl2:
Cancellation is 24 hours or the money is gone. :thumbsup2

Awesome. Thanks. Well it would be convenient if nothing else. :goodvibes

Quick question about the cabanas...has anyone used one yet? Is it worth the substantial cost? Are the cabanas on the beach or near the pool (sight line to the kiddos?). I'm taking my sister's family (along with my family) to the Poly mid-June. Staying in CL. I've requested (and paid for) a castle view for my sister's family (we're happy in garden view CL). Is it a good idea to call/email a few weeks ahead with room preferences, or is that annoying and OCD since I put in the requests when we booked. This is their first trip and I want everything to be...well, special.

Thanks for all the info and advice.

From what I have read....there are 2 cabanas near the poolslide exit end and one next to the beach and pool bar. The cabana near the beach end is more expensive to rent and has a small roped area with 2 loungers on the beach that is included. HTH:goodvibes

Thanks. We are driving so I am not sure I can give the exact arrival time but I will be close. I hope this is a good sign! Thanks for the info! :goodvibes
I just filled out our letters from the Boardwalk Inn IPO and Beach Club IPO that welcome us and etc, well on the 1st page of information it asks what time will we arrive and what mode of transportation our we using? So I would check to see if you have that letter and this way you can write in anytime you want.

I am just checking in on my Poly friends. I hope all are doing well.

Still trying to swing staying at the Poly instead of the Pop for my girls only trip in September, but it just isn't working out. My TA did apply the new promotion to our reservation so we are getting the quick service plan for free. Maybe we will try to at least eat at the Poly and take a walk around the resort.

When did you get those? We are leaving in 12 days and are driving. :confused3

I just rented a cabana for my trip next week. I rented it through the IPO. Yes, it's blocked hours/ or day... $110 plus tax for 4 hours (10-2 OR 3-7) or $185 for all 8 hours. Yes, I had to pay in full at the time of booking. Yes, I think it's worth it. From what I've heard, this may be my only shot at poolside seating for the 4 of us on a nice, sunny Saturday at the volcano pool. (especially since the reopening of the quiet pool on May 7th is doubtful)

FYI... I just booked one for our trip. They did not ask for payment up front, they said I could put in on my room upon our arrival.

Their IPO offices e-mailed them to us a few weeks ago, which all guests with Club Level reservations should get. Do you think it might have went into your junk folder of your e-mail which is why you haven't seen it?

No cause I check my junk email everyday as well. I will email them to double check.

I forgot to mention we are also driving down to WDW and on the forms I said we would arrive at 1:00 PM at both resorts. Now that was just a guess of mine but I thought it was a good time to put down, because the night before we are staying in Valdosta, Georiga and from there it's 4 hours away from WDW.

So, I bought my two a Sprite in a pineapple for $10. They proceeded to drink it in the CL lounge surrounded by "free" Sprites. Darn you, Disney!! WDW completely obliterates the common sense in the financial section of my brain. :rotfl:

You and me both, pal. You and me both. *shakes head* :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm thinking of ordering one of these to bring along :rolleyes1

Oh, the mighty Titanium Spork from Think Geek. I am soooo close to getting one with my accrued Geek Points. Very tempting to go on a nerd shopping spree just to get my titanium spork freebie.:thumbsup2
Perhaps one titanium spork and a pilfered grapefruit spoon will be accompanying us this September.

Today is a GREAT day!!! My DDs birthday celebrations are over! We had such a great time. I am going to try and post a pic of the cake that took up most of my time this week. (partly because I want to try posting pics before my trip... but mostly because I am so proud of it!)

But now onto why today is so great.... we only have 6 DAYS LEFT!!! And now I can focus on all of the packing and getting ready for our trip!!! YEAH!!!
Today's job - print out all the stuff I have on my computer!

Have a great day everyone!

OMG my dd would have FLIPPED over that cake!! :lovestruc I'm very impressed you made it yourself. We may have to call you the queen of fondant.

Congrats on 6 days left.

Do those of you staying club level do online check in? We arrive in 13 days and am thinking we should not do it but have heard others say yes.

If you are staying at any CL, you will check-in on the CL floor. At the Poly, you will check-in in the Hawaii building. There are some occasions when the CL concierges are so busy that they will have you check-in in the lobby (GCH), but even then, if you wanted to, you could wait in the Hawaii bldg. for the next available concierge.

Many more times than not, you will check-in on the CL floor which negates the purpose of online check-in. The only time I can think of that you would do online check-in would be if you're checking-in before the CL staff arrive or after they've left for the day. And at those times, I still think online check-in wouldn't be necessary because those aren't popular check-in times so there wouldn't probably be much of a wait.

But they haven't grown up so much they don't still enjoy WDW with their Mom--we'll all be there in 17 days 16 hours and 35 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!:banana:

Agreed ... :thumbsup2

Ok fellow Poly'ers.... I want your opinion. I am surprising my best friend by staying at the Poly and an even bigger surprise is staying CL. SO... I want this to be the best trip ever! He thinks we are staying at POFQ so I want this to be really awesome. Btw... he is as big of a disney lover as I am but has never stayed at the Poly or CL. We are celebrating his news of beating cancer that he received a month ago after a 3 year battle. :goodvibes So I am sorry if this is a little long but I want it all to be perfect...

SO.. can you take a look at this schedule and tell me what you think and if I should add to it or do something different! :confused3

Saturday, 14 May - Arrive Poly 4pm - Check-in and relax. Try and get into Ohana for dinner. If not, we will head over to Whispering Canyon. He loves both places but thought it would be more fun to do Ohana for the whole Poly thing.

Sunday, 15 May
- Magic Kingdom - ALL DAY! - Maybe come back for an afternoon nap because we plan on doing the EMH that night. We do have dinner at Jiko at 5:35pm. Of course we will catch wishes!

Monday, 16 May - EPCOT - ALL DAY! - Again.. maybe an afternoon nap! We have dinner ressies at Chefs de France at 4:30PM

Tuesday, 17 May - Sleep in a bit. Day at the Poly. I rented a cabana for the afternoon. May head to DTD after or just relax at the hotel. Dinner ressies at Chef Mickeys 9pm.

Wednesday, 18 May
- Again, sleep in a bit. Lunch at Whispering Canyon at 11:30 then head over to the MK for a few. Dinner at 1900 PF 6:45pm (his first time here!) Then probably back to MK to catch wishes if we can.

Thursday, 19 May - Hollywood Studios - All day! - Lunch at 50's Prime Time 12:05pm. Then dinner at Narcoosees 9pm.

Friday, 20 May - Animal Kingdom - All Day! - Donalds Breakfast 8:25am. Then my friend from American Idol is performing at Relay for life in Winter Garden so we are heading over there to see him and hang out.

Saturday, 21 May - DHS & MK - Spending the day with my AI friend and the manager of American Idol. She is escorting us all day around the parks. We will end the day at MK with Wishes then sadly... head home.

I know I hit every one of his favorite restaurants except Ohana. We couldn't get into Ohana but I am hoping we can just walk up and get in. That is the only thing. I am also have a basket delivered to our room for him from Memories By Betsy (who is awesome btw... lol) with a Disney iPhone case, a 40th anniversary stuffed Mickey and a Disney gift card.

So what do you think? I am really excited about this trip and want it to be perfect! Thanks for reading and for any advice! :thumbsup2
