Have you guys seen the news on the GF thread? Seems they(WDW) have filed a permit to build a multistory building with circle drive, landscaping and hardscaping over around the GF wedding pavillion. Sounds like it may be a new DVC cuz it is the same way they started BLT. I find this so sad. I love the beautiful tranquil walk between Poly and GF. Putting in a multistory DVC will ruin the whole vibe. Gosh I hope this doesn't happen.....

Multi-story just means more than one story. I doubt they would build a tower since it would totally not be in keeping with the Poly or GF's theming, so it may not be that bad. The parking lot and transportation would be on the road side of the resort, so it may not spoil the walk too much (other than during the construction!) I'm actually kind of disappointed that it's not a Poly DVC build.

There are also discussions on this possible DVC on the Rumers and News thread. Ugh.....can you imagine the buses at the GF? They would have to change bus routes I think so GF and the DVC would be combined. At least staying Poly we can EASILY walk to TTC to catch extra buses

But didn't it say the building would be shaped like an upside-down "T"? It will have to have enough units to support such a large expenditure so you can bet it will be at least 7 or 8 stories high....unless they are saying the "T" would be the more horizontal shape vs vertical shape.....dunno

That's how I took it - a horizontal "T". They could achieve that with a four story structure. A tower, even a short one (7 - 8 stories) would look so out of place. I think it would be really bad planning to do that.

I went back and looked at the site plan. Yeah--looks like horizontal T but they would have to reclaim a portion of the lagoon. Hmmmm....*IF* they make it with the same styling as the GF it would be much less intrusive. It still means lots more folks using the monorail and boats. Ugh....I like the tranquility of the Poly and the GF is so close. We shall see how this progresses.

On a more fun note.....wonder if they have made any more progress on the Poly East pool refurb. SSSOoooo looking forward to some more covert pics to feed my curiousity.

Dropping in for a HI! I've been stalking the DIS for quite a while with hopes of being able to use the information here and I've probably read through this POLY thread a couple of times. Thanks to you all, I have pretty much decided that the Poly is the best resort for us.
I certainly hope the new build doesn't impact the walk from Poly to GF. That was one of the things I was looking forward to doing with DH for our dinner together (V&A, I hope!). A romantic stroll would have been so nice.

Welcome to DIS and the Poly thread. Always happy to see new faces You will love the Poly. Don't worry about the possible new build. it is just a permit being filed and is a long way from any ground breaking...if it ever happens. That stroll to GF is so beautiful and very romantic. Dh and I love to eat at Narcoossees and the whole family adores 1900 Park Fare. We usually take the monorail to the GF--to stay fresh before dinner in the heat--teehee....and take the leisurely stroll back and watch the fireworks and castle along the way.

Please stay This thread is for Poly lovers. Not just for impending trips. Did you try Magical Vacation Travel. Sometimes they have great package rates up to 40% and they include dining now.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that kaffinito! We are staying VWL in two months but I just love the Poly and will definitely be back! And the people on this thread are so nice that I can't leave it! Hope August works out for you!

My dates are for Spring Break, so no discounts. Maybe I'll luck out and get a miracle AP discount, but with the way the Poly is booked up right now - I can't see that happening.

Oh no I don't like the idea of building anything between GF and Poly. I love that walk and standing out on the beaches and being to see all around me. Hmmmm we will be there in Oct 2011 so needless to say I'll be hunting around for any building gossip and immediately report to you guys!!!!! Well after my dole whips that is.

Well WDWKOOK!I will tell you What happend we had a Sanchez Family Meeting Last Night and we said which hotel we will staying in April! Sophie said Polynesian, I said Polynesian and My Mom said Polynesian and My Dad Said Polynesian! but My Sister said Contemporary so we put the hotels in my dad's hat and i pick the polynesian to stay in the polynesian so in April 2011 the Polynesian is where we are going to stay for April 2011!

Well, even though you and your family have chosen the Poly over the CR, you're still welcome on the CR thread anytime! Besides, the CR will always be there for a future visit.
