ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

Hahaha, that's an even better idea. Wonder if CC's has sporks, we'd really be in business then. :rotfl:

I'm so looking forward to our lounging in the evening. I've noticed that there are some special juice concoctions offered on CL, could anyone share whether these are these "adult" or sans alcohol tropical juices?

And my dh thought I was nuts when we were at Kona and I was digging into my pineapple with my dessert spoon. :rotfl:

As for the CL "juice" there is an adult version that comes out in the evening. It tastes more like a wine/juice spritzer type of thing but it might have some rum in it. I know someone (maybe Tess?) has posted the official recipe on here before. :drinking:

If anyone else is going in June visit my poly june thread an let me know so we can brag!! It soo close but ohh so far away!!:lmao::cool1:

Its a sangria that they put out at 5pm and its soooo goooood!

They also have a tropical juice they always have out DH and I took a small bottle of rum with us and some very cute tiki cups I found and made ourselves drinks to take out to the pool.

LOL. Our hubbies must be on the same wavelength. Mine definitely gave me the "are you crazy?" look when I was placing my full concentration on getting the pineapple out with the straw. Thanks for the CL juice info. :goodvibes

umm....isn't that what you're supposed to do?:rolleyes1

It's entirely logical to me! And in these hards times, why would anyone let such goodness go to waste?! :thumbsup2

Totally envious...by mid week my ticker will be in the 6 month range...hopefully October hours will be out soon, then my ADR date will come and then MNSSHP tickets will go on sale after that so I can buy, then our 45 day mark will come and then the most anticipated piece of mail ever will come and then departure day

Not like I am counting down days to each of these things or anything :rolleyes1

Glad the IPO is doing a great job for you! I  them all!

:rotfl: I can't wait for MNSSHP to go on sale! Oh, and for September AP rates to comes out. Then I can make my final payments and start to pack!

Back home today after 5 nights at the Poly and thought I would share a couple of thoughts.

First off--it was wonderful! :lovestruc I love the atmosphere there, the weather was perfect, the pool was busy, but to us it felt festive rather than crowded. We played the pool games a couple of afternoons and even won a free half hour on the little 2 seater boats. That was fun! There were guards checking for room keys every day, but not oppressively.

Welcome Home! Glad you had a great time. It is so nice to take some time to chill out at the pool....
Did you happen to check out the new cabanas? I'm wondering if people are starting to learn that they are there and using them. Also how is the quiet pool renovation coming along? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is done by our trip - or I'm sure I'll get "construcion view"!!!

Thanks,
Tammy

So... :rolleyes1 Changing the subject...

Does anyone else scrape the inside of their Lapu-Lapus with the straw to get as much of the rum-soaked pineapple out as possible?

Uh, that would be me. I really go to town scraping it out of the second LapuLapu I've had for the night because the second one makes me 'invisible'. :rotfl2:

No, but know that you have given me the idea I may just grab a platic spoon from CC and keep it on me so I can really get the rum-soak leftover pineapple out. :rotfl2:

Wow, what does it say about me that I've done that too? :rotfl: It's the Bacardi 151 in that drink--loco Rum.

I loved that 'sangria' they put out in the CL. One night I had that, plus a latte w/ Grand Mariner and watched the fireworks in the lounge. Best ones I've ever seen...even with a slight buzz.

Aloha, joining in! We just put down our deposit to stay at the Poly, it's our first WDW family vaca!

What are the chances of getting one of the elusive PIN codes between now and December?

I know it has been asked plenty of times, but I could not find a clear answer.
Therefor I turn to you, my Polypeople.
We are staying CL as the title says, and initially though to check in when we arrived. But our flight is a long one, with changing planes, doing immigration and customs at Newark, before connecting to our MCO flight.
So if everything goes as planned we will be at MCO at 6 PM.
Now, keeping tabs on Continental and Newark and delays, I can easy se us being delayed. Therefor, would online check in be the smart way to go, so they know we will be coming? And what if we are delayed to the extent that we miss the last flight to MCO, then what, do I need to call Disney and say I am coming, just a day later? Or will they hold my room if we are delayed without me notifying them?
i am not sure why this concernes me, as everything probably will be fine, but the connecting time in Newark of 2 hours is a bit scary, as I have heard people using more than that to get through Immigration, customs and so on.
So any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

Okay so it sounds like you have really complicated travel..
If you are delayed on your flight and miss the last flight to mco.. You must call the poly directly and let them know ASAP. They will charge you for the nights stay even if you are not there.. But you will be listed as a no show if you do not call..and could lose your room reservation. If you call and tell them your situation, they will still charge you for that night but you will have a nice quiet room to rest in when you do arrive. I would also call your IPO and let them know of the possibility of delay before you leave. I think you will be fine through customs..

Good luck:thumbsup2

And I forgot to mention - for those of us who don't drink and who still want the fun of drinking a "fancy" drink.

You can get any of the non alcoholic drinks served at the pool bar or the Tambu Lounge served in a pineapple ala Lapu Lapu. :thumbsup2

I highly recommend the Sour Apple Freeze in a pineapple - the flavors mix rather well I thought. :)

We had a similar issue, not with customs but our flight being canceled and pushed out 2 days because of weather. We called Disney and explained and they modified our room dates for us, canceling 2 nights in the beginning and adding one at the end and didn't charge us for the nights we missed. They even gave us the added on night at the original discount we booked. :thumbsup2 I did this through the main reservations line and not the poly directly since we had a "room only" reservation and not a package (we are AP holders). We then emailed the IPO letting them know of the change because it effected our ADR's and they canceled the ones we wouldn't make it for and offered to rebook if we wanted them to.

So maybe the charging for the night/s missed will depend on the type of room you booked (room only vs package), room only reservations aren't paid until arrival vs having to be paid in full 45 days in advance.

Anyhow, I would bring the phone numbers to the Disney reservations number and to the poly and IPO desk just in case you do have a delay, they will also adjust the Magical Express bus time for you if you were using that to get to the resort. I wouldn't bother dealing with the online check in, because if you are there in time it makes the process confusing, and if you have a delay it will make it more difficult to adjust the reservation if they are able to.

Have a great flight and good luck!

Good to know! I don't plan on lugging my huge pump with me so I can't drink too much on this trip. Maybe just one a day, but definitely not a Lapu Lapu...unless I want one drunk baby. :rotfl:
