ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

Thank you. Do you know if they let you use a preprinted UPS label or you have to use the rate they quote to ship back.

I'm really not sure about the pre-printed labels. I suppose if you are that prepared and have a pre-printed label ready to go--the parcel would simply go out with the regular shipments for that day. :thumbsup2 Most folks end up shipping things home that they have purchased unexpectedly. :rolleyes1 It sounds as if you have a good idea what you will be sending back. I know the fees we have been charged have been the normal rates with nothing additional tacked on.

Shipping back is really easy though.

I know you can ship to the resort, we plan on shipping some diapers and stuff over when we go in Sept.

How hard is it to ship something back. Can you arrange a pickup at the POLY or do you have to go somewhere else to ship ?

We don't have a car and don't plan on going to any hotels off the monorail.

if you know what the weight will be you can pre-pay online and print your own label at home and take it with you. or you can get the USPS any weigt boxes and pay for shipping cost at post office.. then take the boxes and labels with you.

The easiest option is what tess is telling you. she is awesome and has more experience in all aspects of the Poly!:worship:

So excited to join these boards! After many many years away from the Poly, I'm finally taking my children to my favorite place as a kid! So excited to be headed back to the Polynesian in July!

I just wanted to know if anyone knew if the beaches at night were crowded for watching Wishes. Our LO's probably won't make it to 10 pm in the park, and was hoping that we'd be able to at least have a good view from the beach without too much trouble.

TIA

Hello Poly lovers! I am still here! LOVING IT! We went to Discovery Cove today and had a great time! HOWEVER... last night we got to ride the new Star Tours! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! A M A Z I N G!! It is a must do for those of you coming in the future! :thumbsup2

1. I see you're from Indy, too - so I know you rock :thumbsup2

2. Thanks for the praise on ST - that's a must do for my kids anyway - but it's usually a Dad ride, while I get a few seconds to myself to regroup. Mostly, though, because it was way way way too bumpy/jerky for my liking (always got a headache). Have they smoothed it out at all? Or does it still have that simulator-jerk to it?

Most nights in July the beach is not that crowded. You should be able to find a spot to sit down and watch Wishes.

However, July 3rd and 4th are terrible with hordes of people coming in beginning late afternoon through to the fireworks. The place is jammed packed with people, unfortunately.

I can't wait to hear your report on the cl lounge!
We booked gv cl too - are you happy with it or are you wishing you had upgraded to tpv cl? I am so torn!!!

Sitting in the beach as I type this. The weather is absolutely perfect. They are wristbanding the people sitting at the chairs in front of the Barefoot, they are blue wristbands, and nearly everyone has them on!!! :)

Have you and your dd located the hair wrap station yet? I hope you are having a wonderful time!:goodvibes

Someone a few weeks back said the hair wrap station had been moved over closer to the pool bar ... but I haven't seen any pics from anyone yet. Can't imagine how that poor hair wrap girl is going to work with the crowds that are usually there in July! :confused3

You know.... It doesn't seem as jerky to me! It is in 3D now and high definition so they focus alot on that as well. Of course there are sudden stops and such but I do think its better! :thumbsup2

Heading over to Chef Mickeys for dinner! And tomorrow... PRIVATE CABANA! Love to relax around the pool! Even though I am already pretty red from discovery cove today! BUT I AM NOT COMPLAINING! :goodvibes

That will be me tomorrow! The TA is going to apply my final payment and then--it's mailbox watch for my travel documents, baby!

Yea, we can watch the mailbox together. Isn't it great to be "back home" again. Are you going to be there for the 4th of July too?

W00t!!! TA e-mailed me this morning and said my package has been paid in full! Now the agonizing wait until DD11 and I are back at the Poly.

Looks like the three of us are on 'document watch' for the next few weeks :rotfl: and will be at the Polynesian at the same time!

That is so awesome! Hopefully we will run into each other.

Yep, we'll be there! I've always wanted to stay at the Poly for the 4th of July ever since I was a kid. Was going to do it last year but DD11 guilt-tripped me into staying at the GF. :lmao:

I know the 4th of July is going to be nutz which is why I booked a LV room on purpose. If it's anything like NYE was, it'll be a zoo on the beach! :scared1:

Not hard at all. There is a "concierge" located in the front of the GCH. Simply queue up and request shipment for the items you need sent. They will charge your room for any costs of shipping home. :thumbsup2

:worship: Tess, you are a treasure trove of information. Wow, I didn't know this! DD11 wants to buy some snowglobes on this trip (and I'll probably get some artwork) and I was wondering how the heck I'd get to the post office to ship that stuff.
