ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

Still waiting for more in depth photos of the premium cabana!! And the new concrete hole that we used to call the quiet pool! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone who is leaving has a great time! Could one of the people going in May try to get a decent pic of the premium cabana? I am just curious and can't seem to find one. Also, for all the star wars fans, the new Star Tours opens May 20th!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Ya'al are so great on this thread about your knowledge of the Poly! My first stay there is in 75 days, and I cannot WAIT!!! I've eaten there many times, at Spirit of Aloha, Kona, and Ohana, but I can't wait to be fully immersed in the Poly expereince! :cloud9:

Congratulations!!! I hope that you enjoy your upcoming stay at the Polynesian. Trust me, once you stay there you may never want to leave :lmao:.

WHOO HOO ... into single digits now!! 9 more days!!! (well technically 8 days, 10 hours) until we get on that magical plane for Orlando! :cool1:

Woohoo!!! Have a magical vacation!!!! :goodvibes

We're Baaaaaack!

I plan on doing one heck of a trip report, but if anyone leaving soon has any questions, I'd be glad to share!

Here are a few things I cannot wait to say though...

#1) Club Level is worth every penny!

#2) The Poly is worth every penny!

#3) The quiet pool is up and running (and wasn't so quiet) :rotfl:

#4) I braved the volcano slide!!! :cool2:

#5) we had NINETEEN pieces of luggage marked on our room delivery card :lmao: although I really think it was more...

#6) "to-go" sushi from Kona is just as good as sitting there an eating it.

#7) I saw more bunnies and ducks than I've ever seen in my life.

#8) the CL food offerings were so yummy, we cancelled some reservations

#9) The beach in front of Hawaii stayed empty most of the day Saturday, which oddly was where we were for most of our cabana time- we found that we could have lived without the cabana. :confused3

#10) ready?

no really ready for this??

We were UPGRADED at no charge to... THEME PARK VIEW!! (we were in 1507- Cindy's castle was dead center of our view.) :worship::worship::worship:

Ok, let me know which pics you want to see first... I snapped shots of everything, I mean it, everything. TR to come soon. :cloud9:

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip!
Could you post some of the CL appetizer and dessert offerings?

Thanks!

Sounds like you had a great time! Congrats on the upgrade too! I have been thinking of trying to upgrade to Club level! So you don't think the cabana rental is necessary? I doubt we will have more than a couple hours at the pool so not sure if it's worth it. :confused3
I'm looking forward to your pics!!

How deep is the volcano pool and specifically how deep is it at the end of the slide? Trying to decide if I need to bring water wings for DD.

I think we determined this in a post a couple of pages ago, don't quote me, but I think at the deepest part, right next to the grotto it's like 5 feet, 5 inches or something? The slide exit area is like 48 inches deep?

Then someone needs to update this page. I did the bold on the parking statement.

Parking

Self-parking at Disney's Polynesian Resort is available in front of the Never Land Club and the Great Ceremonial House.
Valet parking is also available for a nominal fee.

Yikes!

I was just there and there was a sign by bell services that said "Valet Parking $12.00 per day". I didn't know it was free before?
The only guests who had free valet parking was Disney Vacation Club members and it was only at DVC Resorts, however last year that perk was taken away. So there was always a cost to other guests and was never free.

I will be at the Poly on Saturday and can't wait! We are leaving tomorrow and going to Siesta Key first for 2 days to see a friend! SO EXCITED!:banana:

Just to clarify... Valet parking is $12 a day right? :confused3

I think this is getting all mixed up!!

You can park your car yourself for free if you are a resort guest.. You can drive up and drop your luggage off at the front and park yourself.

You can also use the convienance of valet parking meaning you drive up and hand your keys to the valet for 12 dollars!

They do not charge $12 a day to park unless you use valet:thumbsup2

With the exception of our 1st day at the Polynesian in December 2007 when we decided to valet park, all the other times when we arrived at the Contemporary and Boardwalk Inn we did exactly what you described and it was never a problem.
