Well our vacation is coming to a close. I know you guys know how I feel! The three days to departure blues!

I must say this winter took a toll on the plants here, but the good news is I have seen more gardners than ever here. They are planting and pulling plants so the poly will be exactly the way it was before the winter.

Someone had asked about new merchandise at the boutiki. Have not seen anything new just the same stuff.

They have installed a new fooseball and ping pong table by the pool for anyone to enjoy free of charge. Our teens like it well enough..

All for now! For those that are leaving soon, Poly is waiting!:grouphug:

You've probably seen the posts, could you ask around at the resort and see if you can get any information on the possible pool rehab in August?

I, personally, have a tough time believing it would be in August, but folks seem to be concerned.

Hope you are continuing to have a great stay and we are getting very excited to head down.

Please let us know if you do call! This could be a deal breaker for us as well, as my kids have to have a pool! I agree with a prior poster, though, why would you rehab a pool in August?? Seems like that could wait until the winter months....

Same here, as much as I hate to say it.

While I am not going in August, I am going in September and am getting concerned myself about a pool closure! Agreed that a pool rehab in these warmer months seems nonsensical.

As other posters have listed, if anyone has any concrete information, I'd love to hear it as well!

Ah yes, departure blues. At least you have a couple days left. The worst was leaving MK the last time and watching it fade away on the monorail :( BUT, you can always go back :goodvibes

OH, How exciting to hear about the fooseball and ping pong table - and free of charge! I LOVE it!!!! I hope it is not a temporary thing for the busy summer months and they keep it out for September too. My family loves both games. By any chance, can you either post a picture of where it is or tell us where they are located? You said by the pool, but I wondered if it was in a spot where we could play a game and still keep an eye on the kids in the pool (my kids are good swimmers, but I still don't let them swim without my hawkeye on them ).

Im going to call the polynesian and going to make sure if the pool is getting a refurb

Remember, resort calls go to a call center (my friend works there) not the resort directly - those operators should have the latest pool refurb info.:thumbsup2

Just received an e-mail from IPO with my itinerary and a letter I've never received before. The letter is for presentation to the bell captain at check-in. I'm not sure why we need a letter when we've always told him in the past, but what the hey--I printed it to take along. :cool1: The letter also confirmed that if you did an online check-in you must check-in at the online check-in desk in the GCH. :sad2: Thankfully, I have never availed myself of the online check-in process.

Today I contacted IPO to make a few changes for our August trip to the Poly. I mentioned there was an internet rumor about the volcano pool being refurbished in August and they replied that they had heard nothing about it.

Seems like August would be a foolish time of year to do a pool rehab.

It really doesn't make sense to do a pool refurb or maintenance in August (unless it's unavoidable maintenance that can be done in a day or two). I would think they would hold off until the colder weather (as long as it's not December!)

When we checked in there was no one on line in front of us. No problems, and we got the room we had requested in Tokelau.
I'm not sure I'd bother with on-line check in. It wasn't as if the regular check in took all that long. I mean, they knew we had been there previously, and it all went pretty quickly..I don't think it took five minutes.

My thoughts exactly. Why do a pool rehab during a time of year that is extremely hot? :confused3 Something in an Oct-Nov timeline would seem more feasible.

Yeah, I read the OP and that person said that a CM told him/her about a
"refurb on the pool area." So it could be just work done near the pool. I doubt they would do any major work to the pool that would close it in the summer months.

They sent us that letter, also...and of course I printed it out and had it in hand when we arrived, but no need for it. In fact I didn't even give it to them since they didn't ask for it. Who knows why they send it?:confused3

Have you been there before for the 4th of July? They do a lot of activity at the pool for the kids ... my kids LOVE the pie eating contest! :rotfl:
We're only going down for a *very* short trip to the Poly, leaving after work on July 2 and getting down at 10:00 at night, and flying home late in the day on Monday July 5...but I'm so excited, I've never stayed at one of the Magic Kingdom resorts before!

I didn't think I'd be able to slip another trip in this year, so this is fantastic =)

Maybe we'll see you both, we'll be there July4, too!

I didn't get that letter and they just sent another copy of my itinerary yesterday. Wonder if I should bother checking to see if I need one? We have 23 days:cool1::cool1: I'm not planning to do online check-in after reading Carlnix's experience.

Good news . There is no planned refurb for ANY pool at the polynesian

Thanks!

I called what I THOUGHT was the direct number to the Poly but it was to central reservations :headache: But she was very nice and said there was no planned refurb.

Am listening to Tikimans poly loop music. Still 3 months away though <sigh>

Thats a great polynesian website

Oh wow, this is making me having second thoughts about where I'm staying this September! :headache: I just booked my vacation at AKL...and now...!!

Price difference wouldn't be a huge factor for me but I'm a little scared that I'll have high expectations of this resort. I've been to Hawaii many times and LOVED it! Being a frequent visitor, do you think I'll unconsciously expect a real feel of Hawaii and actually be disappointed? :confused3

Okay I can tell you for sure!! Elvis is dead and there is no refurbishment scheduled for August! They looked at me like I has three eyes when I asked.. But they called all persons that would know! The rumor is definatley false!
