Aloha to all of you. Have fantastic vacations at the Polynesian.

Hey, I remember--and in fact still have, those shell necklaces! We used to take the kids when they were little and would hula dance with the characters. There was an early show that began seating around 4:30 or so and it was a character luau. It was more kid-oriented than the evening show used to be. Now it seems the luau is more a conglomeration of both the kid luau and the former adult luau. We haven't been in many years, but the kids loved the show when they were little.
I think I still have some of the leis, too, Tess. We've never been to the new show but it does look like a combination of the two to an extent. I remember all the children lining up below the stage and dancing along with the characters. Ah, Polynesian memories.

Its just making me more excited for our December trip to the POLY! I haven't been to the POLY since I was a child and DH has never stayed. We always say how much we wish we could stay there. This year I am surprising him with a Christmas trip to Disney and staying at the Poly (thanks to the 40% pin!).
Gosh, your first day was much like ours, and that was back in the late 80's and early 90's for us too. Oh! The shell lei's! Do they still hand those out? There was a story behind those....I still have several in a drawer...sweet memories.

at the torch lighting ceremony and have a fun dinner at 'Ohana for a fraction of the luau cost. That is our plan for the next trip
I am leaving a month earlier than we originally planned. I have been so frustrated with airfare for our November trip. I was playing around with different dates and happened to come across the cheapest flights I have ever booked to Disney but it was a 10/20 arrival date so I jumped on them and then changed our reservation to the new dates! 10/20-27
I am really excited to experience F&W and not be rushed since our November dates would have only given us two days of F&W before it was over. I also have to miss Rick Springfield
Oh well! I think Night Ranger will be there instead
