I hope the weather is ok!? It's looking like some thunder storms! :confused3

Hope everyone else who is going has a MAGICAL time! :wizard:

leaving tomorrow at 7 am woooooohooooo:rotfl::rotfl::woohoo::woohoo::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Aloha to all of you. Have fantastic vacations at the Polynesian.:cool1:

Hey, I remember--and in fact still have, those shell necklaces! We used to take the kids when they were little and would hula dance with the characters. There was an early show that began seating around 4:30 or so and it was a character luau. It was more kid-oriented than the evening show used to be. Now it seems the luau is more a conglomeration of both the kid luau and the former adult luau. We haven't been in many years, but the kids loved the show when they were little.

I think I still have some of the leis, too, Tess. We've never been to the new show but it does look like a combination of the two to an extent. I remember all the children lining up below the stage and dancing along with the characters. Ah, Polynesian memories. :cloud9:

We are planning on trying the luau during our Nov/Dec trip. Can anyone who's been recommend which level of seating is better for a view? We were going to pay for tier 1, but based on Minnie&Nana's comments maybe it would be better to go for second tier? :confused3 Anyone else have any advice/experience to add?

I wondered, too. I have read about many that said Tier 2 was great. The only reason I chose Tier2: we were going to use DDP. Now we're paying for thew luau oop, but I left it at Tier 2.

So is it safe to say that perhaps some of the fridges have freezers? I know we had one @CR last summer and it was wonderful. Wonder why the Poly firdges overheat so badly? We never had problems @ CR, AKL, WL. :confused3 I'll just make a mental note to prop the door open.

Who wanted personalized ears? call Betsy @ Memories By Betsy www.memoriesbybetsy.com she may be able to help you, and her prices are better than Disney Florist.

I always have to clean the house before I go on a trip, too!

Have a wonderful time!

I just spent my whole day off from working reading this entire thread! :scared1: Its just making me more excited for our December trip to the POLY! I haven't been to the POLY since I was a child and DH has never stayed. We always say how much we wish we could stay there. This year I am surprising him with a Christmas trip to Disney and staying at the Poly (thanks to the 40% pin!). :woohoo: He is going to flip and I can't wait! Now I just have to keep this a secret for another 7 or so months (oh boy that's going to be hard!)

Minnie&Nana, we used to go to the character luau, too. For a while in the early 90s, it was our custom to go to it the first night of our vacation. We'd check into the Polynesian early in the morning, have breakfast at Coral Isle, go to the MK, return for a swim and then the luau. It was early, wasn't it? 4:30ish? Remember the shell leis that were handed out as you neared the luau as a welcome?

BCV23, yes, about 4:30 sounds right. :) Gosh, your first day was much like ours, and that was back in the late 80's and early 90's for us too. Oh! The shell lei's! Do they still hand those out? There was a story behind those....I still have several in a drawer...sweet memories. :goodvibes

Safe travels and have a wonderfully magical trip! So exciting!!! Aloha! :cheer2:

(pics of your room & view would be neat! :thumbsup2)

:cool1:Five (well 4-for POR & 5- for POLY) more days until our online check-in window! Yay! I hope we get our room request. So far we are 2 for 2 in getting our request on our two previous WDW trips. Third times a charm. Or maybe we won't get our request but will be pleasantly suprised anyway! We have TPV so hopefully we will love our room regardless!

To all those going soon: Have fun!

To those that have a bit of a wait... I kind of envy you because you have more time to PLAN! I don't feel ready!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Our first night will be at POR and then we move to the Poly! Here are the things I am looking forward to the most:

Trying for the first time:
Lilo & Stitch Breakfast
Volcano Pool
Motor Launch to MK
Aloha Pork Sandwhich from CC with those chips
Torch lighting Ceremony
Lapu Lapus!
Finding Nemo the Musical & Rafiki's Planet at AK
Space Mountain Refurbished!
La Cellier

Repeat pleasures:
Ohana
Dole Whip
Fireworks from the Beach
Strolling around the Poly in the evening with the torches lit.... so beautiful!
Pina Colavas!:cloud9:
Splash Mountain MY ALLTIME FAVORITE DISNEY RIDE!!
Off Kilter! LOVE those guys
Mickey's Philharmagic:wizard:

oh and everything else too!:rotfl2:

Anyone have creative toys I can pack for my preschoolers for beach time? We plan on spending lazy afternoons at the pool for ultimate relaxation! We bought the mickey shovel and pail last year, of course, but wondered what else we could bring that were suitcase size....

We just returned from our magical vacation...good times, good food, good hotel! *sigh!*

We stayed in Fiji (I had requested Tokelau)- last room on the ground floor - the back of the volcano pool across the marina/dock was the view from our window. Not the most convenient location for getting to and from the TTC with a 5 year old, but it was quiet and I don't have anything to judge it against since it was our first Poly stay.

Our fridge did NOT have a freezer - which put a wrench in our plans to freeze drinks the night before. We made do with soaking them in ice as long as we could and then putting them in my bag.

My daughter LOVED the volcano slide - the Photopass photographer got some cute shots of her coming down - but she did NOT like waiting in line! :)
We also liked the "quiet pool" - deeper water more conducive to diving, not as many people!

To answer the 2 questions I had before I left:

We did NOT attempt to get to DTD - the tips from this board made me think it just wasn't worth the bus ride from the Poly.

The vinylmation Mickey's are EVERYWHERE - in the shop on the second floor, the shop over at the Contemporary... We saw them all over in the parks as well. I didn't end up getting one - it seemed kind of bulky to lug around the park attempting to get autographs. (I chose the picture frame/mat board route instead - but only got them out at character dinners.)

We are still riding our "Disney High" - talking about where we would be at different parts of the day, the rides we would be on, the places we would be eating...*sigh*...

Until next time!

Since SOA was a common discussion the last few days I decided the weekend pics should be from the Luau

Happy weekend Poly lovers

MVMCP would be my choice. I love the parties even though they are insanely expensive!

At least you can see fire boy;) at the torch lighting ceremony and have a fun dinner at 'Ohana for a fraction of the luau cost. That is our plan for the next trip :thumbsup2

So many people are heading to the Poly! I hope you are have great weather and a magical time! I can't wait to hear reviews, experiences and of course see pictures :worship:

Look at my ticker :rolleyes1 I am leaving a month earlier than we originally planned. I have been so frustrated with airfare for our November trip. I was playing around with different dates and happened to come across the cheapest flights I have ever booked to Disney but it was a 10/20 arrival date so I jumped on them and then changed our reservation to the new dates! 10/20-27 :woohoo:

I have literally been on my cell phone and computer for a day and a half changing reservations and getting my dining reserved :cool1: I got every request I wanted even though the ADR window opened up over a week ago!

At first I was sad to miss the beginning of holiday stuff but since we are doing the big holiday trip next Christmas I got over it quickly! We love Disney in October :lovestruc I am really excited to experience F&W and not be rushed since our November dates would have only given us two days of F&W before it was over. I also have to miss Rick Springfield :sad1: Oh well! I think Night Ranger will be there instead :lmao:

We have our MNSSHP tickets and I even decided to pay off the balance while I was at it so now I have nothing left to do! :sad2:

Maybe I will have to do a PTR...:rolleyes1

Anyone else going at that time?
