We will still let you hang with us :lmao:

I am actually looking forward to hearing from you when you return being the Poly lover that you are. I make no secret that I long to stay at the GF but the Poly keeps pulling me back. The fact that it is right next door and I can see it! I feel like I will sit there longing for the Poly the whole time :sad2: If I could not see the Poly it would not be a big deal....I know, I am pathetic :guilty:

DH says he would only consider it for Christmas 2011 which would technically be my 40th birthday celebration/Christmas gift. I am planning on booking bounceback while we are there in November. I would start taking bets now that I change back and forth between the Poly and GF about 100 times before December 2011 :rotfl2:

You should really force yourself to stay at GF and get it out of your system. When GF was first announced back in the 80s and I saw artist's renderings, I knew I HAD to stay there at some point. We couldn't afford it when we first began traveling to Disney and the second year we went, we had booked a LV at Polynesian.

We received a call from guest services while still a few months out and given the option of an upgrade to GF. I pounced! I really had no "pull" to the Polynesian at the time and this was my dream resort! We went, we stayed and You know where I now spend the bulk of my Disney vacationing time. Still, I'm glad I had the opportunity and I wouldn't turn down a stay there again--it just isn't my dream any longer. ;) I don't know what it is about the Polynesian, but once we did stay there, it has been our favorite. :lovestruc

Conquer your fear and stay at the GF--it's ok to enjoy other places. :yay:

Just had to share...13 days till my first Poly stay!!! I am BEYOND excited.

:cool1:

You are going to love:love: the Poly. Just think about all of us who still have 7 looooonnnnngggggg  months. Just make sure you take lots of pics. Have a magical trip.pixiedust:

Thanks Tinkerbellie and Disney Pro! We usually go Christmas week so I am soooo hoping for lower crowds and good weather. All adults this time so we are planning some "relaxing-by-the-pool with an umbrella drink moments!" And Poly seems like the perfect place for that....will take pics!

Veals Family...we arrive on the 2nd and depart on the 6th. You?

Our trip is in 29 days. I really want to get excited about the Poly but I am having a hard time. This was not our choice, but one of the hotels we could use with dh ff miles.

I have always loved the Poly in the past, but now that I read Livies review I am wondering.

Karens pictures make me want to go there. I just dont know what to expect, like pool issues and customer service issues etc.

I am trying to have an open mind and say we will enjoy ourselves no matter what, but I guess I want it to be special. We make our own magic but if the customer service is bad I will probably say to myself I wish I was at Yacht or Beach etc. The only thing that will probably make it acceptable is knowing it didnt cost us all that much out of pocket etc.

Anyone else ever feel like this?

I've had the same feeling about other resorts - but, if it is any reassurance, we've stayed at the Poly 10/12 times since 1981. In all those stays we had an issue twice: on our very first stay we needed a room change and in 2007 we had a cast member check us in who would not smile no matter how nice were to her. She was, shall we say, stoic. Not one smile, a rather grumpy manner...we had to ask about the lei's given to everyone at check-in...in the end, she finally warmed up slightly, so we figured she'd had a very bad day so far. Every other cast member we encountered was helpful and cheerful.

We've been staying in Disney resorts since 1981 and we've probably had 4, maybe 5, experiences that were disappointing out of about 45 stays - it can happen at any resort. So, if you like the theme of the Polynesian, try not to let a few bad reviews cause too much concern. Chances are much higher that you'll have a wonderful experience. If any issues arise, go to the front desk and if not resolved, as for the manager on duty - that will help things get taken care quickly.

I trust it will be a fantastic stay!! :goodvibes

Hmmmmm...I'm pretty sure we had the same cast member check us in during the summer of 2006. We were soooooo excited to be checking in; she was a real downer!

We are planning our 2011 trip-- I've been soliciting pictures and opinions in my GF vs. Poly Debate... and it seems that the Poly may win. A certain little princess just loves it there. And her daddy cannot say no to her... Perhaps another Tahiti stay is in my future after all!

That would be pretty funny! I hope it's not the same one - it could mean she does not enjoy her job and that would really be sad!

Thank goodness for your little princess! :thumbsup2 Wonderful news! :goodvibes

Have a great trip those of you leaving soon! This is what I love about this thread, there's always someone heading down and we can live vicariously through you! Have fun!!!
