I'm just so worried I'm going to forget something. I just made sure we have some new SD Cards for the digital camera and camcorder. I'll make sure we have some cash tomorrow. How much cash do you really need? Can't we use our cards in most places?

I'm so excited, we just switched our resort for Nov from POFQ to Poly. DH finally gave me the go ahead. Can't wait for our first stay at the Poly!

Happy Late Birthday Breezysmom!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thank you:worship: for a WONDERFUL thread on the Poly! We are staying there Sept 12-19th and I can't wait!!!:banana::banana: The pictures and info are amazing on this thread:thumbsup2
:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

We check in the 18th. Maybe we will see you in passing!:)

just came back from a week at Poly (Figi) and while it is a lovely resort we did not like being there so much, the CMs were not very nice at front desk or food court and we had some broken things in the room and we had our privacy sign up the whole time and they came in anyway (honeymoon trip), when I told someone the guy acted like I was lying saying "well are you sure it was out, that does not sound right" and we had to complain about the very loud fights next door a few times and no one ever walked over to check. It sounded like someone was getting thrown around.
When we checked in I asked if I could pay to upgrade and they said they had nothing but the 3 times I called CRO they said they had plenty of waterview rooms showing and the resort was not that crowded.I think the person didnt want to check or something...who knows.
The resort was pretty and we liked the monorail and the food there was good (we ate at all three places) I think just the service was the issue...we still had a great time though.I felt bad for the lady next door...I guess they were getting a divorce, he wouldnt take his meds and kept yelling she slept around (nice way of saying it) and then he would go outside on the balcony and smoke while we had our sliding door open.I am NOT anti smoker (my dh smokes) but he walked down to smoking area as respect to other guests.I know this is not resorts fault but we did make a few trips to lobby to report what was going on to no avail.
We did watch the fireworks each night from the beach and that was nice and the pool was nice and not crowded. We have a christmas trip this year and we will be going back to AKL CL , its is farther from the parks but its a great resort all around. We did have a GREAT trip overall.

Congrats on getting married. We just got married on 4/10/10! The morning after our wedding (also was my bday) my husband rolled over and said I could plan a bday gift/wedding gift Disney trip! We can't go on an official honeymoon until our 1 yr anniversary b/c I am nursing our youngest son. So, off to Poly in Sept, for our this-will-have-to-do-until-we-can-travel-without-the-kids-moon.;) I am glad your overall trip experience was fun. That's too bad about your complaints. I would be upset too. Hopefully your Dec trip will be better. :thumbsup2

Almost everywhere takes credit even the little snack stands on push carts! You need cash for tips, airport, cabs, room service and the like!

2 more days! Technically it is almost 1 more day because today is about over. :cool1:

I'm excited for you!!! Know you will have a fabulous trip. Make lots of pix and post when you return! Only 31 more days for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We aren't counting the days or anything like that....;)

Only 8 more days for us. I'm getting so excited. We've been planning for such a long time I can't believe it's right around the corner :cool1:

Hey everyone;), just switched my pop/akl kidandi, to the Poly. Booked a GV room and wanted to get opinions on what room location to request. We have never stayed at the Poly and I am hoping I made the right choice. It will be me, DH, and 3 boys 10 and 9. I know we are sacrificing space from the 1 bedroom at Kidani but the location and transportaion can't be beat. Plus the food options at the Poly are more appealing to us. I guess I just need a little convincing.

YAY! I think you made a GREAT choice! And congratulations on the GREAT price you scored (I saw your other thread). You will find that the rooms at the Poly are plenty big for a party of 5! To maximize your space, I recommend that you request Tokelau. It is one of the longhouses with the even bigger rooms (Tokelau, Rapa Nui and Tahiti have slightly bigger rooms than the rest of the rooms at the Poly, which are already very big), and of the 3, it is the most centrally located. You are also guaranteed either a patio or balcony when you are in Tokelau, which expands your space even more. Be aware that the longhouses not listed above do not have balconies on the 2nd floor.

Enjoy!

We will still let you hang with us :lmao:

LOL! Thanks! We're still doing a few meals over at the Poly and DD10 has two stays scheduled at the Neverland Club. I'll try to snap and post some photos for the FAQ.

I am actually looking forward to hearing from you when you return being the Poly lover that you are. I make no secret that I long to stay at the GF but the Poly keeps pulling me back. The fact that it is right next door and I can see it! I feel like I will sit there longing for the Poly the whole time :sad2: If I could not see the Poly it would not be a big deal....I know, I am pathetic :guilty:

I completely understand. And if it wasn't for DD10 begging me to stay at the GF I'd still be at the Poly. I gave in because I figure I might as well, to paraphrase Tess, go for it and find out if it's right for me. I know I will have this pitiful look on my face whenever I see the Poly but oh well--at least I'll get to visit. :goodvibes

I'm going to try and post 'live' through my iPhone while I'm at the GF. :thumbsup2

DH says he would only consider it for Christmas 2011 which would technically be my 40th birthday celebration/Christmas gift. I am planning on booking bounceback while we are there in November. I would start taking bets now that I change back and forth between the Poly and GF about 100 times before December 2011 :rotfl2:

You know, if it was me I'd be doing the same thing! :lmao:

I wanted to share how to turn your bathtub into a mini whirlpool at the Poly. I don't know if this will work for the regular rooms, but if you have the shower pic water head in your shower, (like in the CL rooms) the hose for the water pic ends up being really long since the shower head was installed for really short people. :)

Run the bath, and then when the water is a few inches or so high, put the shower head in the water - just let it dangle in there and viola! - instant whirlpool. It's a weak whirlpool to be sure, but very nice on tired achy feet. :goodvibes

Our trip is in 29 days. I really want to get excited about the Poly but I am having a hard time. This was not our choice, but one of the hotels we could use with dh ff miles.

I have always loved the Poly in the past, but now that I read Livies review I am wondering.

Karens pictures make me want to go there. I just dont know what to expect, like pool issues and customer service issues etc.

I am trying to have an open mind and say we will enjoy ourselves no matter what, but I guess I want it to be special. We make our own magic but if the customer service is bad I will probably say to myself I wish I was at Yacht or Beach etc. The only thing that will probably make it acceptable is knowing it didnt cost us all that much out of pocket etc.

Anyone else ever feel like this?

I've been worried about resorts before, but have usually been pleasantly surprised. The service at the Poly is top notch, and depending on the time of year should not have a single problem finding a spot at the pool. Last April I had no trouble at all securing a spot, but this year, since we went during a much busier week, had a bit of trouble.

I think you'll be just fine at the Poly once you soak in the atmosphere and relax a bit by the pool. Hope you have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

CONGRATS on switching! :cheer2: With the kids, trust me, you made a great decision. We stayed at AKL and while we loved it, we missed being on the monorail line at the Poly. Another great thing about the Poly that we loved is that unlike at the AKL, the quick service restaurant, Captain Cooks, is open 24 hours. In addition, Gasparillas over at the GF is open 24 hours. And all of those restaurants on the monorail line, including those at the MK, are great to have at your disposal. :thumbsup2

It isn't long now, is it? At first it seems it'll never come then all of a sudden, OMG, we're going to Disney! :goodvibes Wish I could stow away in your suitcase. ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again--they need to give you an insulin shot before serving you this. It is the best...sugar rush...evah! :goodvibes I remember sending shots of this to co-workers when I had some. They had the nerve to be upset i didn't bring them any back! :lmao:

My Disney Travel docs arrived today!!!:cool1: I guess now I should think about packing, which may be hard as it's a surprise for the kids!:woohoo:

Thank you,I did write them a e mail yesterday about some of the issues and told them I was NOT looking for any type of refund but wanted to share my concerns.I got a call about 30 minutes ago from a very nice lady that INSISTED on refunding two of our nights and would not take no for a answer and said to just put it on our room that we have booked for Dec at AKL!:wizard: She said it is a GIANT nono for anyone to enter your room while the sign is out period.I have to say they have the BEST CS at wdw if they are in the wrong in any way.I told her that we had a great trip anyway and of course they would still get our money in Dec haha as a matter of fact they will make their money back 3 x over!

This is wonderful news!!! I am so happy it worked out this way for you - I know it would have been nicer if you stay was better, but it is good they responded quickly and so well.

Have a fabulous December stay at AKL - we had a terrific stay there when it was new. What a surprise to be upgraded to Savannah view - it was very nice! :goodvibes
