everyone be happy!! LoL:rotfl2:

Oh, I'm totally excited about the plans. Just bummed my DD5 won't be able to ride barnstormer next trip. Oh, and not happy about the *shudder* clowns ... nooooooooo clownnnnnsssss! :scared1: (and thanks for the heads up on that creepy BW pool BreezysMom. Won't be checking in there any time soon!)
:rotfl2:

I was there over Easter last year and will be there again over Easter this year. It does get really crowded, but a lot of schools have a designated time for their Spring Break instead of having Spring Break coincide with Easter. So last year the week before Easter was really bad with park closings, and the week after was pretty empty. This year so far it looks like the crowds are pretty light, and I'm hoping that the crowds stay light during Easter.

The Poly pool was fairly crowded the whole time, and so were the restaurants. We were still able to do walk ups at O'hana and Kona though.

We leave next Saturday so I'll let you know how it turns out this year. :)

Thanks a lot Kaffinito! I hope you're right about schools having a designated week instead of coordinating it with Easter....our district is always the last week of April and when we were there last year, there were not big crowds at all! I'm hoping I will luck out and it won't be too bad! I'm really struggling with my decision. I already booked Dolphin Epcot fireworks view, just in case I didn't get a good tax return. Well, I got a good one this year so i'm going to splurge a bit. I'm either going to do Poly GV with no dining plan, CR garden wing with deluxe dining, or AKL Savannah view concierge maybe with regular dining plan. I'm struggling with the decision (as usual) and even though it's a year away, I know I'll have to book sooner than usual because it's a busier time of year. Any of you guys have any thoughts? :confused3

Our school district always coincides spring break with Easter. We always have the week before Easter and the Monday after off.

Well, I'm hoping that this is true for most districts! We'll be getting there the day before Easter and staying til the Friday after :goodvibes

We are heading to the Poly in May for the first time. I've splurged for a TPV and an having second thoughts on my room request. I've requested the Tahiti longhouse, it looked so tranquil. A lot of posters say it'sawfullyfar from the mainhouse. With two small children, daily breaks to swim and Adrs for Kona and Ohana, should I request a different longhouse ? I realize I may not get it anyway, but ?? Thanks, I am so excited to be going !

We stayed in Tahiti when my DD was 3, we LOVED IT. It was very close to the TTC and really the walk to the GCH was not that long. It's a nice and quiet longhouse. :thumbsup2

Tahiti is great - The bathroom is larger and has a double sink. Very convenient to TTC and ferryboat to MK.

We will be at the Poly during one of the Grad Nights weekends. I know there is no Wishes on Fri/Sat but I think I saw somewhere that there are 'special' fireworks. Does anyone know if this is true and if you can see the fireworks from the Poly beach?

Thanks

We've been at the GF when special fireworks were going on at the MK and could see them perfectly from the lagoon side of Boca Chica which faces the Polynesian, so would think you should be able to see fine from the Poly beach.

The MNSSHP fireworks could be seen from our balcony on the end of Boca Chica facing the MK, but the other fireworks were on the other side of the bldg, so you should be able to see both from the Poly beach. :thumbsup2

Happy planning and have a great trip! :goodvibes

I've heard on grad nights there are special fireworks, but that they aren't until around midnight.

lissiesmum- I'm undicded too! Our spring break is always the last week of April too and we had a great time last year, with very litte crowds. I HATE that in 2011 it coincides with Easter. We're undecided about dealing with the crowds or just pulling the kids from school and going another time of year.... so I feel your pain!

We just got back from our first trip to the Poly last night. We had never stayed there because as a kid my mom always had us stay at CR, she thought the Poly looked to dark. I guess that clouded my thinking because I never really even considered staying here. We only stayed here this trip because friends and their parents had booked a week and the parents decided to leave early, so they let us use the room for free!

Well, my mom was so wrong, we loved the Poly!!! Our first night we had to book our own room and were put on the third floor in Tuvalu facing Fiji. We got there late, so as we walked tot he room we were able to see Wishes from the marina area. The room was beautiful but my DH thought it smelled a little funny. I thought I remembered that might have been the old smoking building so maybe that was why. But, having gone our last 5 or so trips to moderate and value, we LOVED the size of the room!

The next morning we were able to move into our friend's parent's room - the were bottom floor, connecting rooms in Raratonga. This was perfect for us!! We were facing the quiet pool and had a big bush right in front of our rooms. It gave the kids a nice place to spread out and we got to see birds, ducks & bunnies come right up to our porch every night. In fact at one point I was in the room and had left the sliding door open, a black bird was standing on the metal threshold looking into our room! :scared1:

The walk to the GCH was so quick and easy and the walk to TTC was a little linger but nice. The pool was of course great, but I hadn't been during high season in years and boy was it crowded! DH got me a lapu-lapu and all was fine though.

My poor DD 7 got a stomach bug one night while we were there. She had to spend the whole next day in the room with a fever and throwing up. It stinks to be away from home when you're sick, and she was so sad she was missing a day at MK, but at least we were in such a beautiful place. Luckily it must have been a 24 hour thing because by 4 the next day she was up and ready to go.

One day mousekeeping didn't come until at least 3, but the lady who came was SO nice and we talked for a long time. I guess something happened with our normal lady so they sent this person from another building.

Overall, it was a wonderful trip with our best friends. There is only one problem, we are going to have the hardest time going back to moderate! DH is the one who always says who cares about the hotel, we're only sleeping there, but now he is in love with the monorail. We have a weekend booked in December at POR, I know I'll be calling in the next few months to upgrade to Poly!!

I just wanted say a quick 'hello' and a resounding 'thank you!'. I've been lurking for a bit and learning invaluable tips from you all for a few weeks now. I'm planning a trip to WDW from 9/24/10 through 10/1/10 with my partner, two sons (one will have just turned 5 and one will be almost 5 during the trip) and my parents. I'm beyond excited to be staying at the Poly, thanks to a fabulous pin code. This will be my first trip to WDW since I was 8 (not counting a quick one day visit at Epcot when I was 19), and my kids first trip.

I've already sent my ADR's off to our travel agent, but if I could ask you all one question: we're currently reserved in connecting garden view rooms. Is it really worth it to upgrade to theme park view? We'll most likely be back at the rooms relatively early to allow our kids a good night sleep, and the tpv rooms sound intriguing. I know there are varying opinions, but I'm looking for any suggestions you veterans may have.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!! You will LOVE the Poly with whatever view you choose. Since you will be in the room early, TPV could be great for you! It will allow you to see more of the magic from the comfort of your room. However, the GV rooms are so nice and private and great for relaxing. I know, I didn't make this any easier.

Also, I don't believe connecting rooms are guaranteed, and preference is given to those with more children than adults. I've heard of several people being disappointed when they thought they would have connecting rooms and didn't. The Poly is wonderful, though, and always strives to meet their guests needs and requests, at least in our experience. :goodvibes

i love the polynesian resort i went there in august 2008 and im going back in july i cant wait my room was in aotearoa we had a view of trees and bushes and the monorail it was a nice view it was nice and quiet i cant wait to go back

i dont think it is necesary to book a theme park view even tho it is nice and you are able to see fireworks from ur room but the garden view rooms are very nice especially since the poly has amazing landscaping i love my garden view last time i went and it was just of trees bushes and flowers and the monorail lol even if u dont book a theme park view all you have to do is walk over to the beach and watch the fireworks from there, hope i helped and i hope you have a great time at the polynesian!

I think the selling point was being able to see the fireworks while the kiddos were asleep in the room (and not being able to walk to the beach and leave them). However, I LOVE watching the EWP and fireworks from the Poly beach!!

You could save a few $ from a TPV and book a lagoon view and see EWP from your room! Tahiti lagoon views are especially nice, but cannot remember if EWP can be seen from those lagoon rooms.

What fun to plan!! Do hope you are able to get connecting rooms - be sure to ask at check-in before they make up your keys, so you can ask them to check for connecting rooms in case those rooms were not assigned already.:thumbsup2

I would agree that being able to watch the fireworks without worrying about keeping the kids up is a definite selling point! We had a TPV room in October (and have booked TPV again for Nov/Dec).

I guess what it comes down to is whether you want to spend the extra money/how much you would value the view. For us, it was great to be back in the room, with the kids in their pyjamas and ready for bed for the EWP & fireworks. Some nights they weren't even interested in staying up for the fireworks, but DH found it very relaxing to sit out on the balcony, which he did every night, and just watch the show.

BTW, we still had connecting rooms with TPV. It's only a request regardless of which category you go with, but it is possible to get connecting either way.
