ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Just booked our very first Poly stay with a 40% code. We will be there in a GV room from Dec. 16th - Dec. 24th. Now I just have to decide on a Longhouse to request. :) We will be celebrating our 12th anniversary and my son's 6th birthday while we are there. We are so excited!

Congrats! We used that code last yr.. Using the public room only code for late spring late summer right now of 35% off and added tickets and DDP, hoping to get a 40% off Pin I never seem to get pins and I dont understand why?

QUestion: what is the rack rate for a room in the fall at Poly this yr? trying to make sure I truly got 35% off I think I got $364 for CL..

Garden view club level rack rate for sept 30th to oct 6th is $564 a night you got a good deal!:thumbsup2

Well I just called DT wanting to see if I had a PIN and I dont but the rep told me that if I changed to another deluxe Id get the 35% off and I was like I thought I had it and he said no you have 25% off which is what they offer for the Poly in that code! I am not happy in the least but couldnt imagine staying anywhere else..Not sure what I will do..

Doing the math shows that I got 30% which reading the print in the offer does say AKL and Poly gets 30% for that time..

35% off 564 is 366.6. You're getting the right discount. :thumbsup2

Actually I was told the rack rate for CL early sept is $520 so it is only 30% off and I did notice at the bottom of the offer when you click on it, it says Poly and AKL gets 30% off not the 35%..I am thankful for the 30% off tho but the rep told me a trick that may help me get that 40% off so Ill try that and keep checking to see if I get it..

How sneaky! lol Now I will definitely be looking out for an AP rate.

And you've taught me the lesson :worship: Perhaps that's why there's so much availability at the Poly in September with the GP offer.

They say child birth hurts... I have five and never felt a thing!!
:rotfl2:

:headache::rolleyes1 Spoken like a true man :lmao:

Speaking of cold winters....my furnace crapped out on us last night. So now I get the wonderful decision of scaling down our May trip or scrapping it all together. Even though BIL owns HVAC company, the unit we want is $$. :headache:

Airfare has been obnoxious (like 1K for the 3 of us) so thankfully we have not bought our tickets but I am at crossroads...what to do??? Drop down to stnd GV, skim a few days(from 8 to 5) and hope to find decent airfare or scrap it all together and add 2 extra days on our October trip???? Driving is not at all possible because we are tight with our dates with school and work.

Now, let me point out that I am going to Maryland for a wedding at the end of April, heading to south Florida for spring break (my Dad's treat ) and we rented a beautiful beach house in Michigan for a week this summer so we certainly are not neglecting ourselves of vacations at all.

Wonderful DH is leaving the decision up to me, but put me on a VERY tight budget which I hate when planning a Disney trip :snooty:

What would you do???

Keep in mind...staying anywhere else at Disney is not an option. Poly lover (snob:snooty:) to the core! We have no desire to go to Disney for spring break, instead of Sanibel. We want a beach vacation and since Dad is footing the bill, changing that trip is not an option.

This is the icing on the cake to my not so great week...so as I have tears in my eyes right now :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I really could use some thoughts/validation/advice. Because in my heart of hearts, I know I should just scrap it but we have put this trip off so many times. I feel like I keep getting dumped by a boyfriend and then getting sucked back by his charms and then dumped again......:lmao: Horribly analogy, I know!

Oh no! That's terrible! We had the EXACT same thing happen last year with our air conditioner. Luckily it was right before our 45 day window. We decided to stayed off property... we should have just cancelled. It was not the POLY and therefore not a real Disney vacation... at least for me!

As an enabling friend I say scale it back and go.... as a real friend I'd tell you to just make your Oct trip bigger and better! Absence makes the heart grow founder right... and makes mommy crazy :confused3!

So sorry!!

I know exactly how you feel. . .this is our first year since 1992 that we are not headed to the Polynesian for a summer vacation. We just have too many variables to consider with one graduating college, potentially going to work or grad school, and our vacation week is during a time where there are NO discounts happening at the Polynesian (other than AAA). Ron is also in a place where he feels we should be done footing the bill for our children to vacation with us since they are now adults. . . :sad1:

As I watch others planning for the summer, I become more melancholy despite the fact that Ron and I are already booked for October (not at the Polynesian though). My screen saver is nothing but pictures taken over the years of our family vacationing at Disney--not helpful. Well, enough about me and my woes. . .

I would probably scale back, drop CL--stay GV and go fewer days. Consider the budget side a new challenge and make it work. :yay: You will get a much needed fix before your better trip in the fall. :woohoo: But that's what I would do. . .

which building in Poly is closer to the Monorail?

Well, it depends on which Monorail stop. The Resort monorail stop for the Poly is in the Grand Ceremonial House. Rarotonga would likely be the closest for that, with Niue, Samoa and Aotearoa following. (Tonga is also very close, but has only the large, expensive suites!)

The TTC is the other place you can catch the monorail from the Poly. It is a short path from the eastern end of the resort. You can get the Resort, Express and Epcot monorails here. The closet buildings to the TTC would be Rapa Nui and Tahiti.

We're personally fans of the centrally located and very quiet Tokelau, particularly the east side. Short walk to the TTC, GCH and the pools.

I was thinking to stay in Polynesian Resort and maybe to stay in the Rarotonga! Do you have some pics of Rarotonga! Rarotonga is closer to the monorail system and thanks for the info! Oh! one more thing is the Polynesian has Extra magic hours?
