ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Is there any disadvantage to doing online check-in?

I read that club level guests might not want to, but we're just regular TPV guests.

Thoughts? Opinions?

if you do online check-in for regular TPV they will have your room assigned and keys/tickets etc before you walk up to the desk. all you have to do is show your ID and get your package. there is also a designated area for online check in only. much quicker than standing in line waiting for each guest to have their keys made and package put together.

The only reason that CL guest do not want to use online check-in is that all guests using online must check in at the GCH and get their package/keys in the GCH. If they do not do online check in they are whisked away to the Hawaii building and do all the checking in there. (pampered one on one laid back check in)

Thanks, carlnix30! We have requested (not guaranteed, I know!) Tahiti -- if we're put in a different longhouse, do we still have the option to ask for Tahiti at check-in, even if we've checked in online?

yes you can. who knows.. you may get tahiti anyway.:wizard:

here is a description of the longhouses you may get. from allears.net they both are great!

Tuvalu (two-VA-lu; formerly Samoa)
Staying here, you are just a few minutes' walk to the Great Ceremonial House, but it is the furthest building from the Transportation & Ticket Center. Rooms to the north are lagoon view rooms, most looking at the Magic Kingdom. Rooms to the south overlook the gardens, with a few looking at the marina or beach. There are no balconies on the second floor

Tahiti (formerly Moorea)
This building is right next door to the Transportation & Ticket Center. It is a bit of a walk back to the Great Ceremonial House. It is a short walk to the quiet pool, but a bit of a longer walk to the Volcano pool. Rooms to the north are lagoon views. Some look at Cinderella Castle. Because of the trees, other rooms only look at the Grand Floridian, Space Mountain, Wilderness Lodge, the Contemporary, or the Transportation & Ticket Center. All rooms to the south overlook the gardens. There are balconies on all of the floors.

I'm pretty sure that some of the rooms in Aotearoa are also considered TPV (in addition to Tahiti and Tuvalu).

Thanks, carlnix30! I appreciate the info! We stayed in Tahiti on our last trip, and we loved the proximity to the TTC (and the size of the room!).

As I broke the 4 inches of ice off of my cows' water tub this morning... it was -6 degrees... I was humming Kenny Chesney's "Somewhere In The Sun" and thinking of the Poly.... we check in 28 days from yesterday too!!! It doesn't match your ticker below, it is a bonus trip?? ;)

Oh my goodness that's cold!!! It's 11 in NY today and I really, really it doesn't get any colder!!!

THe trip is a secret!!! It's a surprise for my DD who is turning 10! She's very, very nosey and constantly looking over my shoulder when I'm on the computer! If I had a ticker for the trip she would have found out long ago! I think I've completely fooled her into thinking that if she is getting a trip to WDW for her birthday it's in March! Wooo hooo! 27 days!!

We are absolutely freezing here today with a windchill of -11F. I could really use some Poly right about now!!:beach:

Hello all! I am soooo excited we are going back to the Poly Club level in Sept with my two teens! Just my husband and I went this past Sept and it was paradise and now we just dont want to stay anywhere else! Woohoo!

I'm pretty sure that some of the rooms in Aotearoa are also considered TPV (in addition to Tahiti and Tuvalu).

your right.:thumbsup2

Aotearoa (ow-TAY-a-row-a; formerly Tahiti)
This building is very close to the Great Ceremonial House, especially Captain Cook's. It is also near Luau Cove, and you may be able to hear the sounds of the Luau. If you are trying to get to the Transportation & Ticket Center, it can be a bit of a walk. Rooms on the northern side face the garden or the lagoon. Some rooms here face Cinderella Castle and the Grand Floridian. Rooms facing south overlook the gardens and the monorail, some looking at the road. There are no balconies on the second floor.

Aloha!
We have decided to stay at the Poly for our next trip and I cannot wait! I have wanted to stay here since I was a little girl, and my husband since he first saw it back in 2007. Cannot wait to soak up the great info on this thread!

I thought all the rooms in Tahiti had balconies. I also thought it was the closest to TTC, is that not true? I requested it for that reason, yikes.

We are staying at Poly for the first time in May. I am half way through reading the 2008 Poly thread (has taken a week) and still have the 2009 thread to go :lmao: I figure it will help me waste time before vacation learning everything I can about the Poly!:thumbsup2

Can anyone tell me about the coffee offered in the Club Level lounge? Is it standard Disney Nescafe or do they offer something better? We staying in the Sugar Loaf Club at GF a few years ago and they had nescafe but they also had a machine that made what was supposed to be a latte. It was pretty good and much better then nescafe!

Thanks everyone! 27 days to go!

Aloha to both of you! I cannot wait to hear what you have planned for your trips. There is simply so much to learn about this resort. We are living in Wyoming, so in addition to loving this resort since I was little, I wanted something COMPLETELY different than our surroundings for my family to really escape!

CL has a machine that you press a number for what you wanted. I think it made latte and hot chocolate too. I am not a coffee drinker but my husband got coffee out of it several times and said it was good.

The coffee in the CL lounge is gross. They have a machine that makes lattes I think but I never tried it because I have heard nothing good about it on this thread. As a matter of fact, it is known as NesCrape by a few people. :lmao:

I usually walk over and buy some Kona Coffee in the GCH. I like my morning coffee so I don't mind spending a little extra $$ for a good cup of coffee :thumbsup2
