OMG! I am so freakin' over this. I got a call from FL from my honey just about 30 minutes before quiting time. ADT called her to tell her that there was an entry alarm sounding....AGAIN! So, I made the mad dash home.....again violating a few traffic ordinances, but it was for a good cause and no one got hurt. ;)

Some of you might remember that I posted that someone damaged my door frame pretty badly on 7/31/06. I had to find a handyman and I found a GREAT one, whose repair job held up really well to the dose of torture that was dished out by the bad guys today.

Luckily, ADT sounded and the morons left. We have only a slightly chunked up door with some paint damage. The locks held and the door frame took no damage.

We are getting a garage door installed and the 30 year old boxwood schubs are being removed. We hope that this along with the installation of a few extra security features will continue to protect our home.

I am just thankful that they didn't get in, that we still have all of our stuff, that I don't have to pay anyone to fix the door tonight, and that my pets are safe. Deuce, who is my Chihuahua with Epilepsy, had a rough time after the last alarm event. So far, he seems to be ok. I also worry about Beanie, who has the bad heart and passes out when she gets too excited. The strain on their ears has got to be awful. I have been loving on the babies ever since the police left. Oh, and I beat the police to my house! They were called by ADT at 5pm and I was here at 5:25pm and no cops arrived until 6:25pm. I am really glad the burglars didn't hang around with police protection like this!

Ok, enough venting. I have ordered Chinese food and taken the next 3 days off, so that I can be home until we have the garage door installed. I am reluctant to leave the house unattended during the day now. UGH! Maggie

God bless ADT. Imagine what could have happened if you didn't have their protection. This is 2006 - we can never be too careful.
Glad everything worked out well for you.

:thumbsup2

Thanks. I am still attempting to chill out, but without Gabby here, it's hard. I am really thankful that we have ADT. I am so looking forward to the ADT upgrade that we have planned and the new garage door. Maybe that will finally put an end to this nightmare! Maggie

Yeah, friend of mine was having a series of attempted break-ins, would get call from ADT and always beat cops to her house. :confused3 What's up with that?
Hey OP, do you wonder why you been targeted for 2 attempts so close together? I'm not tryin' to give you a hard time, but do you have something particular in your house that someone wants? Like someone who's been in your house and saw it or did you inadvertently put a packing box outside that lets everyone know you got something good?
I'm not trying to alarm ya, I just likes to catch criminals. ::cop:

Wow! your ADT sure paid for itself! So glad all is safe and sound!

Hugs and a good nights rest to all!

I think it's the motorcycles in the carport/garage that give people the idea that we have money. The fact that Gabby travels about 3 weeks out of the month for work also leaves the house with no one home for about 11 hours a day for 4-5 days in a row.

We are two adult women that live in an older subdivision. Our home was built in 1974. It's a split level brick ranch with a finished basement. We bought the house 18 months ago. We always keep the blinds/shades down. We have curtains on almost every window in addition to the blinds/shades. We don't throw parties. We are homebodies. We go to work. We come home. We go to bed, and it starts all over the next day. We run errands on the weekends.....we order take out one or twice a week, ususally only when she is home. Basically, we are a normal boring domestic couple.

Yes, we have some nice toys. We are DINKS. We each have a laptop that is ours and she has one for work. We have an old PC. We have decent tv's, but nothing fancy. We have DVD players, a VCR, a PS2, a Sega Genesis, a digital camera, and each of us has a cell phone (Gabby also has a Blackberry for her job). We collect Disney stuff, breweriana, glass bottles, model cars & motorcycles, and lots of dust.

I have a loaded .38 on my nightstand. I can and will use it if necessary. The worst part is knowing that Gabby is in Miami and I am here. I will most likely not sleep real soundly tonight. Luckily, the babies seem to have no trouble sleeping right now. I hope it stays that way. Maggie

Maybe you could try some kind of a motion sensor light or alarm thing that will go off before they hack up your door again. Good luck - hopefully that will be the end of it for you!

I would ask the police how many crimes have been commited in your subdivision in the last 6 months. They have the stats. If it is high, I would MOVE. This is too stressful to put up with if you can find housing in a lower crime area.

That's what I wanted to hear, Sister! I hope the situation gets better for ya. I used to live in the city, moved to the boonies some years ago where the saying is "if you don't want it on your property, shoot it!" And I do. :rotfl2:
