Almost A Full Fledged DVC Member, but...

I still have a few questions and sometimes I think the people on this board know more about it than anyone, so I'll ask you guys. We just put out downpayment on today and payed for our closing costs for Kindani Village. We are not getting out paperwork until next week, and we can't even use our regular alotment of points yet anyway (when Kindani opens right?), but we still wanted to book a trip this fall with our developer points. I am just so excited that I can't wait to book (plus I am truly OCD) that I want to book ASAP. So my question is this: Can we book using our developer points before we even sign our paperwork? Like how long does it take to get into the system, just until our payment goes through or after we sign and send back the papers (BAHH, hopefully not that answer)? I called and they have availability for our dates for what we want and the CM told me to call back tomorrow morning. Is that accurate? Any helpful insights would be greatly appreciated, I am working myself up over here. Probably just excitement over joining the DVC!!!

Interesting question. Normally when you buy direct from DVC, you can book ressies immediately after you make your deposit -- but your stay cannot commence until you have closed on your contract. Closing obviously will have to wait until DVC gets substantial completion on your unit in Kidani.

I don't know how any of that affects developer points. As I understand developer points, they are not really tied to a specific unit, so there may be some way you could use them.

I'd sure want an official answer to that question before I made any plans, though.

We called and booked a couple days after our down payment, and it was before our paperwork came in the mail. One of those days was a holiday, so it really didn't take long for us to get into the system at all, maybe one or two days tops. I felt like you, just couldn't wait to get booked

Thanks for the quick replies. Hopefully we can make ours in the next few days with the developer points. I am just getting antsy.

I bought on July 4th. Asked my guide about January dates for the use of the developer points. He said he would check into it. July 5th 10am he called and said the dates were available and gave me my membership number to book it. I called Member services and booked right then. I got a confirmation number when I called.
Just recieved my paperwork yesterday, signed it today and mailed it back. I would call my guide back and see if he/she could help.

We bought on June 16th made a ressie for November using developer points 2 days later and made our ressie for our May trip on June 24. Just got the phone call about 5 minutes ago that we had closed today. HTH
