Allowed or Not Allowed in Carry On

I have not traveled by plane in several years. The last time I traveled, a brand new unopened bottle of shampoo spilled all over my clothing in my checked luggage.

I looked on Contiental's website to see if anything was not allowed as carry on but could not find a list.

Are any of these things not allowed?

Mousse
Hair Spray (non areosol)
Dispossable razor

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Check the TSA website. I think disposable razors and tweezers are now on the OK list. Since when I am in FL I don't use hair spray or mousse (my hair is stick straight!) I don't know about those things.

I agree with the PP. Check the TSA website.

As for packing, I always pack anything that is wet and could spill in a ziploc bag. This lesson learned on my wedding trip to Vegas. My hair spray all over my husband's shirt for the wedding.

I double-ziploc things, just in case! It just takes one bad experience to become extra careful.

I always check the airline's web site before I leave on my flight; they always have a list of what is allowed (and not allowed) on board. Things change sometimes, and what used to be banned before may be allowed now. Check with your airline.

I've never flown with Continental, but have several others, and have always brought those items with me in my carry on.

Everything that can leak, though, I put in gallon size Zip Lock baggies.

Plastic shampoo bottles should be safe but still arrange things so they are near the middle of the suitcase and not squashed by overstuffing. After making sure the cap is tight you might try taping the cap (up and over) with tape more stout than "scotch" tape.

Caution: Bottles of stuff including bleach and laundry detergent often have loose caps right out of the grocery store.

Last time I flew, razors were not allowed. Luckily mine has disposable heads so I just threw the head away at the airport (it was on the way home). Not much chance of that leaking anyway, so I would leave that in your suitcase. Think the other things are fine as carry on.

When I've flown Delta over the past two years, all of them were allowed in my carryon. I've taken hairspray, shaving gel and other areosols (sp?) .My sister had some fingernail scissors conviscated though. I pack all cosmetic items, sunscreen etc in my carryon using ziploc bags also. Never had a problem.
