Introduce myself. I'm DavesWife on Rv.net which is how I found out about this site....someone posted a link to the thread with pool pics. The rest is history, have been browsing the threads ever since, finally decided to post.

Love the comradarie you have going here, everyone seems so fiendly :grouphug: !

We stayed at AllStar Music last Springbreak '08, it was our second trip to Disney as a family. I camped in Orlando at the ripe old age of 3 in 1971, the year Magic Kingdom opened, but my father doesn't remember our campsite being at the Fort. I recall riding in the gondola ride over the park, and I recall little bits like that, and running on a wet beach in the rain (it was over Christmas, he tells me I was worried that Santa wouldn't find us).

Anyway first trip down in '05 we did the condo in Kissimmee route and my friend told me I haven't "done disney till I stay onsite". So we booked a family Suite at AllStar Music and we were quite happy with everything about the experience, EXCEPT for the Dining Plan. Won't recommend it, just won't:mad:. Anyway, by accident we ended up at Trails End for a lunch reservation (long story) and the family loved it and we decided since we were there to take a walk around the campground. HELLO Fort! Love at firstsight.

We have been camping since 2004 and I always said I only want to camp if it's a 5 hour drive or less. That was when we were in a PUP... (last year when we got our new TT). Now I don't mind longer drives, because I have the comforts of home.

So back to our Fort visit.... we loved it, we went back to eat there again for breakfast another day, a cast member let us park in the overflow lot (thank you!) and we rode the bus around the fort seeing all the different loops, etc.

We were so impressed we immediately began planning our trip to the Fort, didn't think it would be this soon but things worked out for us despite the economy and we're headed down the week of November 21. Premium site, dog loop (thanks to Bandit, he has to come too). Can't wait!

The fun part was planning our route from Chicago, and where to stopover. We are leaving on the 19th and taking 3 days/2 nights each way to get there and back. Not wanting to feel rushed and leaving room for weather/travel delays was important, I felt.

Anyway, glad to be here and learning all things Fort related!

I'll see your "Welcome" Michael, and raise you a "Howdy do"! :lmao:

Put your seatbelt on, Bandit, you're in for quite a ride around these boards! Hope you have as much fun as we all do. :)

Welcome, welcome. Please feel free to post about your FW stays. We all love to hear about anything fun and new. ;)

It sounds like Trails End was serving up a good batch of Fort Fiend ala mode the day you guys visited...and you had a full helping of it!!! Welcome to the camping boards, Bandit....kick off your shoes, pullup a stump and set a spell....we do tend to shoot the breeze quite a bit, and as long as you dont mind a little sarcasm mixed in with your facts...you'll find the folks around here down right friendly.

So fiendly! Love it. You're gonna fit right in :welcome:

:santa:

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

Santa, I loved your "trip report" from Christmas. I laughed out loud when I read the part about the return trip home and staying at the campground with the "familiar" name....too funny.

I've been following the "pool" thread was so excited to hear about the hot tub addition!:cool1:l.... All that walking last year was brutal on my feet (arthritis) and the Allstar didn't have one. All I wanted to do was come back and soak in a hot tub!

Sooo looking forward to seeing all the changes made since March '08

Welcome to the Dis, prepare to be addicted.:rolleyes1
