Hi,
Curious for those who have larger children who have used this? My child in question is actually a (short) adult. Thinking of staying here because we will have 4 adults. However, my two adult children are a boy and girl so they need separate beds.

My daughter is 20 yrs old, 5 ft 1 1/2 in tall (measured her) and 131 pounds. I welcome thoughts or opinions on whether she will be comfortable sleeping in the Murphy bed for 4-5 nights?

Thank you :)

My daughter that is around that thought it was fine she says she liked it but her feet stuck over. I think she was just too far down on the bed. So I would look up measurements of length. But she thought it was comfy.

People may disagree with me on this but I am around the same size and I found it very uncomfortable. I have found that all of disneys pull outs in their rooms are no where near as comfortable as having a bed. We have 6 kids and we always book 2 or 3 value rooms so we all have beds. They are beautiful rooms at POR and it is a wonderful resort. I have stayed at several resorts and the pull outs have never been comfortable in my opinion.

Taken from a mom's panel answer.

"When folded down, the bed measures 35" wide by 65" long. While there is no weight limit posted for the bed, it is recommended for those guests aged 9 and under."

It is smaller than a twin, but bigger than a crib.

My then 9 year old niece stayed on it when my in laws went to Disney. Her Mom said that she didn't make a fuss because she is a laid back kid but Mom didn't think either of her other daughters would have done well in the same situation.

Thanks! All very helpful replies. I was hesitant to start with about this bed as an option for her and it is why I posted the question.

I believe the bed is about 63L and 36w from a friend who measured. To give you an idea a crib/toddler mattress is 52L and 27 w. A twin is about 75L and 39w.

My 13 year old niece, who was under 5' and under 90lbs, HATED the murphy bed.

OP, could you and your spouse split up?

When I was younger, in hotels that allowed roll-away beds, I would sleep with my mom, my brother would sleep with my dad, and my sister (the youngest/smallest at the time) would sleep in the roll-away.

It's probably not the most ideal situation ever, but would prevent you from having to go deluxe or get 2 rooms. Just a thought.

One other thought would be to bring an air mattress. The regulations on room occupancy are for room occupants, not number of beds.

Its a cute bed but I woulndt recommend it for an older teen or young adult. My four year old loved it though!

How about bringing or shipping ahead of time a twin size air mattress? You can stand it up along the wall during the day so it out of the way.

I was wondering about this too and this thread is very helpful. :) We have 3 adults and 2 kids (6 & 4) so we are staying at POR in March. After reading this I am sure the kids will be fine in it. :)

You are going to try and fit 2 kids in the murphy bed????? Seriously? Even with a 6 and 4 year old they would not be happy. Please note, that the "bed" is actually a fold out of a fake shipping crate. On top of it is the television and the "bed" is higher off the ground than you would think.

My 5'3" 105 lb. teen daughter had no problem sleeping on the Murphy bed. She liked having her own space. If someone is a wild sleeper or likes to stretch out, then it wouldn't work. My 4'6" 70 lb. son somehow manages to take over an entire queen bed, so he would have been a disaster on the Murphy.

DD16 had no trouble sleeping on the bed - she is 5'1'' approx. 130. She really liked it actually.

I don't think that is what the poster meant. Two adults in one bed, one adult and one child in another, and the last child in the murphy bed. I sleep with my daughter when we go on trips. I'm sure that is what the poster meant.

My oldest niece is around that same age and size and there is no way I would even attempt to make her sleep on the murphy bed. I stayed at POR last month and in person that bed looks pretty darned small. I think you should pack along an air mattress, it would be more comfortable.
