Has anyone ever requested this?
The thought of a bedspread that has not been washed after the last guest bothers me. I always remove bedspreads from the beds when we go to any hotels........but I heard somewhere that if you ask for an "allergy cleaning" that they will be sure to put a freshly washed bedspread on the bed.
Anyone know if this is true at a disney resort?

Gosh, I would love to know the answer to that question.

Two years ago, I was impressed with the cleaning I saw at ASMu. (Long story, but my husband had to unexpectedly run my cousin to the Sanford airport the day we were checking out. Needless to say, I sat with our luggage on a cart outside our room for a couple of hours with three kids at the playground.)

A cleaning crew came in removed all bedding and steamed cleaned the carpets. It was the day after Christmas. They did this to many rooms.
:laundy:

The first morning after we check in I simply call housekeeping and ask them to please replace all the blankets, sheets and bedspreads with new ones. They always do it. I typically leave an extra tip for housekeeping since it takes a little more time.

And, yes they do have special cleaning where they don't use certain chemicals, etc. Keep in mind if you request this and don't like your room typically they will be very reluctant to move you, though. I find the other easier.

Thanks thats a good idea.....I just want to be sure the bedspread is not used......LOL.......

I did not request an allergy cleaning but I did tell them my DS has bad allergies the last time we went. It was at POFQ and our plane ended up getting cancelled, then delayed (bad story). Anyway when I called POFQ to tell them we were going to be late (ended up 36 hours late) they said they had done a special clean on our room for people with allergies so they would make sure they held that room for us:confused3. I had no idea they did this-so I am asking for it every year now.

Yes! They do this! I requested a special cleaning for my daughters allergies and that room was impeccably spotless! I had also requested a different section in the resort and when I brought that up, the CM tried real hard to convince me to stay in the other room, not mentioning that they had already done the allergy cleaning in the one we were assigned to. She was probably thinking "Oh, we're going to have to do another clean!" She talked me into staying. So, if your heart is set on a certain area of your resort, AND you want the extra cleaning, you may not get both.

In March, 2007 spoke with the BW housekeeping manager about allergy cleaning because we needed a different room than the one assigned and they were waiting for the assigned room to be cleaned.

He explained that the resorts bring in an outside company for the initial cleaning - carpets, drapes etc... then resort housekeeping does the rest - each day when they clean no chemicals are used - only baking soda with cold water to clean the room, bathroom, wash sheets & towels, bedspreads, blankets.

All I could think of was dirty linens (from previous guests) being washed in cold water with baking soda would not kill a single germ or get the linens truly clean.

We passed on the allergy cleaning for linens and accepted regular cleaning between guests - no way would cold water kill germs . While there they cleaned room with the baking soda/water .

We double checked this with a guest services manager we know, who checked for us and, indeed, allergy cleaning is baking soda and water.

The AS room was probably scheduled for carpet cleaning - that is not done between every guest checkout/checkin. Bedspreads are not changed between guests every time, but if it is due then blankets and comforters will be changed.

The first thing we do upon arriving in our room is call housekeeping for clean linens and we wipe everything down with lysol wipes, then spray with lysol.

We put the remote in a plastic baggy and use it that way during our stay.

We have someone with an immune issue....and the rest of us never get sick during vacation! :)

:flower2:

geesh I didn't think about the no chemicals in the bathroom part! i clean at home with natural products but in a hotel I want full germ blasting!!! LOL
I just want a fresh bedspread and blankets, etc...........I think I will just ask housekeeping for fresh linens and blankets when we arrive.
and blast away with the lysol.

What's the difference then between an allergy cleaning and a VIP cleaning? Are they the same?

I think there are different levels of VIP cleaning. We had a full cleaning everyday - dusting, vacuum, bathroom, linens changed. :) Actually, the way it used to be for every guest a few years ago.

They honored the VIP cleaning at POR-AB as that was where we stayed for the next trip. Gave us a special number to call to let them know where we'd be staying and our dates.

Again, this cleaning was offered due to an immune disorder of a guest.

1) These are different items.
2) For most VIP cleanings, the Housekeeping Manager inspects after service.
3) For other levels of VIP, the Guest Services Manager inspects the room.

NOTE: There are three (3) levels of VIP. However, I will not publically detail them.

who gets a vip cleaning? and why not detail the levels? what is the secret? and isn't every guest who comes to the resorts entitled to "VIP" cleaning???
a dirty hotel is my one of my biggest pet peeves.

I wonder about that too. As far as I could tell, the "VIP" cleaning we received each stay was the same as it used to be 20 yrs ago in every Disney Resort - so it did not feel special, but more that it was what every guest deserves.

We were given length of stay VIP cleaning three times:

In 2004 when our POP room was disgusting.
In 2005 as a follow-up to 2004
In 2006, for reasons unknown to us, from the Guest Services Manager

For a few years our Disney friends would joke that our rooms were painted before we arrived ...which is what is done fior high level VIP guests. :rolleyes1

ETA: I should have been clearer about the inital reason: we have someone with an immune disorder, which requires a very clean room.

How did you know you had VIP cleaning? Was it stated somewhere?

1) No, everyone is entitled to VIP cleaning.
2) There are "stages" to VIP cleaning.
3) Upon request and without additional cost, Level-1 VIP's can get
. . . new linen, includng sheets, spreads, towels
. . . changed bedding, where even the mattress is changed
. . . shampooed carpeting
. . . scrubbed-down bathroom tiles, including walls
. . . dusted bedroom walls or fully repainted walls
. . . inspection by Housekeeping Manager and/or Guest Service Manager
4) The lower stages of VIP cleaning get parts of the above

NOTE: This is not even for people like celebrities. Celebs are usually only Level-2 VIP's. Level-3 is the lowest VIP level, and Level-1 is the top level of VIP. The cleaning above is reserved for Level-1 VIP's. Again, we won't publically discuss how one is rated or what it takes to be rated a certain VIP level.

We were informed the first time by housekeeping because I noticed our room was hi-lighted on her sheet and asked why. We were told by the Houseleeping Manager that we would receive exceptional housekeeping, fresh sheets every day etc due to the condition of the room at check-in and our medical issue and offered length of stay VIP cleaning for the next visit.

The third stay I can only assume it was because she knew of the first two, which were specially cleaned due to an immune disorder ~ she had been very helpful with another issue.

oooo!

now i want a painted room!!! :rotfl2: (can it be sky blue??!!)

(and here i thought asking for a new, cleaned comforter was "luxury" enough, here comes a new item for the "wish list".....)

oh my...........i guess the little ole regular person doesn't deserve clean sheets, bathroom, clean towels. etc?? LOL
one must be rated a VIP to get such treatment........That is scary.
