Allentown Airport (ABE) Opinions

We are considering flying Allegiant out of ABE. Anyone familiar with this airport? I am assuming it's pretty small. Any suggestions for parking offsite/onsite?

Opinion on Alligiant?

ABE is a great airport. Yes, it is small compared to PHL, JFK, EWR, but very nice, clean, and modern. We walked from the "long term" parking lot to the terminal. Haven't flown Allegiant, so I can't give you any info on that. However, don't hesitate to fly from ABE.

We live about 10 min from the airport and have flown allegiant 5 or 6 times. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

I'm 20 min. from the airport & have flown many many times from ABE. Once you fly from ABE you won't ever want to use a big airport again (other than for better flight availability!) There is no offsite parking - it's that small, there is one lot for long-term (possibly an econo lot too) - all within walking distance of the terminal. There is one terminal, one security area (never waited more than 2 people deep) and one gate area with a handful of gates - that's it!

I've only flown Allegiant once from ABE, did not like the staff at all, but I'd be willing to give them another chance for their low fares!

Thanks everyone! I think we are going to give it a try. It's only a hour longer for us so the savings is worth it!

that yes, ABE is a great little airport. I live 10 minutes away, and have flown from there many times. I've also flown out of Newark and Philadelphia often, but ABE is so much more convenient in my experience. Much less hassle with security and also with my flights departing and arriving on time.
Allegiant is satisfactory, I've flown them; - - but my preference from Allentown to Orlando in recent months has been AirTran. You might want to check that possibility - especially to compare their flight times (particularly on the return flight home).

We are also flying out of ABE, but using AIRTRAN. Prices were better than flying out of Philadelphia.
