We have gotten a few prices for a above gound pool and tonight we had a salemen come to the house and quoted us a price on one and I wanted to ask the pool owners out there if this is a good price?
24foot 52 inch pool with a sand filter, beaded liner, solar and winter covers, Ladder, cleaning kit, Auqa door,up graded liner, digging out spot, sand and block, and complete install of pool 40 year warrenty for a total price of 5,300.00 incuding tax. The other places were around 2000.00-2800.00 not incuding the digging or install and only 25 year warrenty. The companies name is BPI pools inc. out of Pa. What do you think? And can install Monday. We might still go to pool city tomorrow to see what there prices are. Would like to know any info you can give me. Thanks Lisa

To relate buying a pool to WDW, pools come in different grades just like resorts at WDW. Buying a cheaper pool will cost you less, like a value resort, but the pool will be a little less sturdy with a plain liner, and not as many frills. A medium priced pool, like a moderate resort, will be a little more sturdy, a better colored liner, and a few more frills. A high dollar pool, like the deluxe resorts, will be heavy duty, last longer, have a fancy liner, and a lot more frills.

We bought our pool almost 10 years ago and got the "deluxe" version. It looked like it would last longer and was the color I wanted. Color is very important to a female!!! Anyway, we still have it and other than replacing the Polaris and the pump, we still have the same pool and the same liner and it still swims just great!!! Well, as long as you keep the leaves and the green out:thumbsup2

Remember, the warranty you are getting is not for everything. It's just the pool. Each component has it's own warranty, like the Polaris is one year, pump is one year, etc. (those are estimates 'cause I don't remember the exact number of years).

We just put a 24' x 54" pool in 3 weeks ago. We previously had an 18' at our old home, and another 18' at our present home.

We install our own pools. Having done 3 of our own, and 2 for other family members, it is easily doable if you follow the directions precisely. Leveling the ground is the most labor intensive, but after that, the pool can be set in about 3 hours.

That said, I have the receipt in my purse still, and found the receipt for our sand filter, which we bought 2 years ago. We purchased everything that you mentioned above, EXCEPT for the winter cover...I don't cover my pool in the winter. Total cost was $2643.89, and that included a 50# bucket of chlorine.

I'd be a little concerned w/ a company who can install in two days (JMHO)

We have a 21 round and while I can't quote costs, I preferred to do it while "upgrading" to certain things I wanted.

Your right...color matters to a girl. I changed both the outside walls and the liner. I'm so glad I did. The liner looks gorgeous in the sun :thumbsup2

As far as the pump etc...I left that up to DH.

Still the best investment we made after DVC. I'm glad we have it this summer especially w/ gas prices the way they are.

Good luck in your decision.

Don't forget to contact your homeowners insurance company to see if you need additional coverage (in case someone drowns in your pool whether you are home or not) and what your town requires in regards to locked ladders, fences, etc.

Also, you might want to invest in some pool alarms that float around in the water and will go off when someone (or some "thing") enters the water.. They can be a pain when it's a squirrel, but a life saver if it's a child!

Hope you get a good price and enjoy your purchase.. :)

We just had an above ground 24 foot 4 ft deep pool installed last Friday. We priced 4 different pool place and the best price was $4300, for a complete install ( except elect) sand filter, solar cover, everything except a winter cover, and this was a mid grade pool. My only complaint so far was I wished we had picked out a different liner. We asked at the the time of purchase as to what was the difference between liners and she told us pattern. While I am not considered about the liner ( it has a 15 year warranty) it does not match the pool. Our beige pool has a powder blue liner! I guess that is what happens when you buy a pool with a 1 year and 4 year old running around! Your price sounds about right we live in a rural area so their was quite a range in 4 estimates; one was over $7000!! If I was you I just would ask anybody in you area if they have used that pool company. I am shocked they could install so soon, we paid in full for our pool at the beginning in April and they just came and put it in last Fri because my husband complaints it wasn't here yet! Were were lucky that the lowest price came from a reputable company that has been in business for 25 years and had installed friends of ours pool. Good luck on your new pool, my family really loves our and we should have bought one years ago!!

above ground pool? How do you decide on what size? I priced some last year an 27' by 52" was like 4300 +1000 install ect not a bad price i figured but by the time i put the deck ect in i figured it would be like $10000 or so total.

We got one installed last year. Absolutely the best money spent. All together it was $4800 including install and salt water system + 30 yr. warranty. I highly recommend the salt water system to go with it. It is so care free with that. Now I want a deck! Lol!!! I only wish that I would of upgraded the ladder at purchase. The price also included a Leisure Vac auto. vaccum. Waste of $200 + dollars. The manual vac and DH work out just fine. Sounds like a good deal. I was a little shocked when I saw a bobcat digging up the yard for the 12 x 24X 52 oval pool. But, LOOOVVVVEEE IT!!!! Good luck.

CAn anyone post pictures of your pools, Dh and I were talking about this last night!

Ours is a 27' round with deluxe stairs, clorinator, polaris turtle, pump, installed, etc.... $5000. We get plenty of use out of it. It's nice to know where your kids are at all times.

I agree with the other poster that mentioned comparing it to Disney Resorts. Pools come in value all the way to deluxe. We went deluxe. We upgraded most items. We bought a 30' round 6 years ago for $3K, then we installed it ourselves, add an extra $1K for fill, rocks, plumbing parts, etc, then we put a deck on, and then we fenced in the yard. Add it all together we spent a small fortune. Was it worth it? YES. I love having a pool, and the kids love having a pool. Heck the dog loves the pool too. Plus if you do it in peice by peice, it is not such a strain on your wallet. I recommend not focusing on the price, and getting what you want.

The rocks cost us $300. Was going to do mulch, but the rocks work out good. The kids love the pool. It is an everyday thing for them. I am not sure of how to do the deck, or it's cost. When we get back from Disney, we are doing a concrete stamp patio near the pool. So the deck is on the list down the line. Abot what is the cost for an average deck???

We have a 27 inch above ground round pool that is 5 feet deep all around. I believe we paid 3600 for it and it came with everything (pump, filter, liner that I picked out and everything else needed to go with a pool). It was the best investment we ever made and the kids love it! We also bought our jacuzzi at the same time and we love that as well. My husband and I built a deck around our pool over the past couple of months and it came out great. Here are some pictures.

The railing around the pool is the only thing we need to finish and then it will be done. It has been a work in progress but well worth the wait! :)

Great looking pools. Love the deck. I think we are going to go ahead and order today! I know my kids will love it 2 DS 8 and 11. The salesman said easy to maintain 2 scoops of clorine a day and you are good to go.and run the sand filter 6-8 hours. Sounds good! I work driving school bus for elm. and in the school cafertia for High school so, I AM OFF FOR THE SUMMER! Me and the boys will be spending ALOT of time in the pool, with lots of friends over. So the money sread out over the next 10 - 15 years is well worth it.

Inground vs Above ground is too big a differnce in price for me. Reason I would like an aobve ground is so when the kid is grown we can take it down if we need to he is 3 now i figure by the time he is 18 he will be done with it.

we could just do the pool but per insurance i have to have it in a fence or build a deck to the existing deck so there is only one way to enter an exit the pool which would be the back french door.

Ill post photos of our house and get some ideas from you all I would appreciated it.

We built a very similar deck around our pool, just didn't go all the way around the back. We also attached the deck to the house and dug the pool into the hillside like it looks like you did. We love our setup! From the house, our pool is "inground". We have the walk full steps, too.

Your deck is beautiful! Its makes me realize how badly I need to go powerwash ours!

I sure wish that my Dh could do this. He works so much overtime at the hospital due to people moving away from here after Hurricane Katrina. Oh, well... maybe one day! It is sooo nice.
