All The New Developments

I have new info on FP+ !!

Well, no actually I don't. I have an opinion, based on the information that has been released.

POOR FORM!

I guess it's a perk in some ways, but there are downsides.

Since we're just giving opinions here ;) I'll say mine....Same-day FPs are going to be very hard to get for the top rides, especially during the busy times.

It isn't the concepts that "scare" me, it's the implementation and execution that I have reservations about. Those have been detailed, beat to death, detailed again, and beat to death again in many other threads by many posters.

We will all find out together.

But if the implementation isn't 100% smooth on the very first try, shouldn't I sell my DVC contracts and tear up my Annual Pass?

Let me put it this way...do cell phone companies drop calls once in a while? (I've actually not had that happen more than a few times a year...used to be a bigger deal 10 years ago...) Yes, they do occasionally drop calls. But does this mean that everyone should stop using cell phones? Or that in the beginning when people first starting using cell phones and the service wasn't perfect, that it wouldn't ultimately be a wonderful thing? Or that cell phones weren't a huge technological breakthrough to people back then despite a few dropped calls? Obviously, since 6 billion people have access to cell phones today, out of 7 billion people on the planet, I'd say it was worth the hiccups...

I just find it funny that one of the main arguments against people that aren't a big fan of the proposed changes is that we're "assuming" X, Y and/or Z. Yet those in favor are doing the exact same thing.

It is an undeniable fact that FP+ will negatively impact those not wishing to micro-manage what rides they want to ride at a given time 2 months down the road. The extent to which it negatively impacts us is what we do not know. No one knows if the current FP system will even exist once this is fully implemented. If it is, no one knows how many FPs will be removed from the available pool due to FP+.

Bottom line, unless Disney magically increases ride capacity for each and every individual ride by using up their cache of pixie dust, people like me aren't going to like it.

You know this is hyperbole.

Sheesh.....what a misleading post title. Do we need yet another thread to debate the same ole stuff over and over that we already know....or don't know for that matter? :confused3

My objection was that he said he had new information but in truth he just wanted attention to further express his opinion. Even pirates know bait & switch is poor form.

MY main argument is not that people are assuming the worst. It's that they've worked themselves up to actually believe the worst is going to happen, for sure, and are scheduling their trips around it and/or threatening to cancel trips. When the only fact we know is that we DO NOT KNOW how it will work.

So for your undeniable fact above....I am denying that it is a fact that " FP+ will negatively impact those not wishing to micro-manage what rides they want to ride at a given time 2 months down the road." That is opinion. It might be a very educated opinion. It might even be the extremely educated opinion of a Cast Member, or an IT person, or even Ms. Cleo!

It is still an opinion. Like mine.

Per my discussion with one of the disney execs at the bay lake tower when we were just there from 7/21-7/27 and I beta tested the FP+ system, there will be no regular fastpasses once the system is rolled out in full. That system is old/antiquated and will be removed from the parks.

At least I was honest eventually that I do not have any facts or pretend to have facts. I just have an opinion.

You're free to have a different opinion on this thread, but please no personal attacks. ;)

We need this thread just as much as we did Cheshire's thread that rehashed the same FP+ discussion and arguments.

Why are people trying to shut down MichiganDVC's opinion. This is a forum where every voice should be heard.

This thread will be eventually locked or just fade to the back pages of oblivion. Opinions are not personal attacks, which you've made perfectly clear in the dozen or so other threads about this same subject.

Someone posted the info from an "Admiral Boom" that said that although the paper tickets will be gone, the structure of FP won't change. Still get day-of FPs, but from phone or centrally located kiosk. I'm a huge fan of that, by the way. No more running across the park to get a FP for a ride that you can't use for two hours! Why not stay where you are and get that same FP?

But my understanding was that FPs would be available much like they are now, just digitally. No paper.

Anyone that has experienced Disney IT has a good idea of how the new system will work - or not, as years of experience has shown me.

So far, you've posted twice just about my intent of this post and about my posts in other threads.

Do you have an alternate opinion about FP+, as this is the purpose of the thread...to share opinions about FP+. I shared mine, now you can choose to agree or disagree through the sharing of yours.
But let's try to stay on topic...

Third and final response:

Nope. I am stepping out of this one right now. Good luck. As a matter of fact, I would like to make a suggestion that everyone who has a less positive view of FP+ to stay out of this thread too. I believe we should let the one's with a more positive view of FP+ discuss it's magic among themselves without interruption.

Peace.Out.

So FP+ is forcing you to attend a park.

Forcing you? No. Strongly encouraging, yes, but not forcing. The fastpass doesn't cost extra and you're not out money or anything else if you don't show up for it. Yes, it's possible that someone will skip their TSM fastpass to go somewhere else.

The current fastpass system in fact has guests showing up at 9 AM to grab a TSM fastpass and then the fastpass turns out to be for 2 PM. So they spend all that time in the park. Whereas if you've already booked your fastpass for 7 PM you might not go to the park until 6:30 - and spend most of that day swimming at the resort or even at Sea World.

Yeah, I hear ya! I hope that they can get their stuff together to make what I think is a really good idea WORK.
They do need a fully-functional Wi-Fi in all areas of all parks and all places on WDW property. It will take a huge overhaul in infrastructure. They've got to know that.

Quite the contrary.... I encourage opposing opinions and I would like the opportunity to disagree with them without anyone accusing anyone of personal attacks or hurt feelings.
But they have to agree to not be upset when someone else disagrees..... This is the fun of a message board after all. Have a great day! :thumbsup2
