All Star VS Moderate!!!

I am new here and havent figured out how to post a siggy yet.. so ignore my plainess for now..LOL

We were going to book at the Caribbean beach club , in a pirate room for the boys, but we are going with my BIL and SIL, and I dont think they wanted to shell out the money... which is okay... so we just booked with them at all star movies... Only... I am kind of regretting it.. a friend just got back and said the rooms were terribly small.. anyone have any input on one vs the other?

We have not stayed at either (we did the All Star Sports years ago -- 2000); we've also not stayed at the Caribbean, but we do stay at a different moderate each of our trips. The rooms at the Caribbean are slightly bigger than the values and the other moderates.

Welcome to the DIS! Are there only 3 of you in the family? The rooms are smaller at the All Stars, especially compared to those at CBR. That being said, All Star Movies is perfectly nice for 3 people and kids LOVE the giant icons.

DH and I stayed at Movies with our 17 yr old son and we had plenty of room. We only stay at moderates now, but our favorite is POFQ. Never stayed at CBR. If you wanted to be at a moderate, you could always arrange to meet other family members at the parks. That way they can stay where they are most comfortable and so could you! With cell phones, it's really easy to hook up.

You may be squished with 3 kids in a value resort. Have you considered one of the Family Suites at All Star Music?

I have no checked into the resorts there no, I in fact had no idea they even had them.. Thanks for the heads up , the Disney online vacation thing, is not working right now though, SO I can see the price difference, I will have to call and speak to someone, I wish they would come out with a % off code.

Just so you know ... a family suite is about twice the price of a regular room at the All Stars.

I found the All Star rooms to be very small and the ones at the Caribbean Beach are a fair bit larger although the rooms were tired looking last time we stayed

We are planning on staying at the ASM Family Suites. The price is a little more than double the price of a standard room, but with a family of 5 the only other option was to book two standard rooms & hope you can get them beside each other or book at a Moderate such as POR which is slightly cheaper but much smaller rooms. The family suite comes with two bathrooms & small kitchenette.

You will love the pirate room. I think that was close to our kids' favorite part. We have stayed at All Star Music in the past and really didn't enjoy it. The only value resort we enjoyed staying at is Pop Century. We have 3 kids also and the moderate resort room size is so much easier to have a stroller, pack n play, and rambunctious kids in.

Good plan! You would have been very squashed in the value resort. CBR is a beautiful resort. And playgrounds on the beaches. It has been recently refirbished. All the rooms are updated. They built a new pool area that looks really cool, with a childrens water park like, play area.

It's pretty easy to meet up with the rest of your group at the parks, just agree on a time and meeting spot.

Just wanted to add, if this is your first trip to WDW, it really pays to do research. A couple of books I like are WDW- The Unofficial Guide, and Passporter.
Unofficial Guide also has a web site- Touringplans.com I really like their Crowd Calander, and use it for all my WDW trips to determine which park I'll go to each day. I also like the variety of touring plans they have. Well worth the $9 subscription.

I think you will be happier with your decision. If it was me I would have gone with CSR but that is because you get queen size beds. DH is 6'1" and I will not share a full size with him. He sleeps at a slant and then I get pushed out. But CBR is more kid friendly so it should be fine.

I stayed at AS Music last year and am staying at AS Movies in December. I travel alone and they are more than fine for my use. I don't spend much time in the room so I would rather not spend that much money on them. I would compare them to a typical hotel room with some Disney flair.
