I am staying at the ASP with both of my girls (11 and 13) this July :cheer2: Has anyone stayed there recently?!? My family stayed at the ASM about 5 years ago, but the kids were little then. We stayed at the CR two years ago and liked it.

Any info would be great!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks!! :cool1: :cool1:

We stayed there for 3 nights in July and really enjoyed it. We were in the football section but in the back of the building. We had no excess noise and never felt the room was too small for the 4 of us(DM had another room to herself, but they werent connecting rooms). We had clean rooms(better than the Poly, where we moved to next) and even got towel animals one night in both rooms. We enjoyed the pools, but the baseball pool was closed our first night there. The food court was very convenient and the bus service was fine.
Our DSs are sports fans so they really enjoyed the theming of the the football and baseball, however I think they preferred the Mighty Ducks theme at ASMO.
I wouldnt hesitate to go back to ASSP again.

Almost year ago for us. 4 days, 3 nights. My DS 8 is a HUGE football fan, not really into other posrts though. This was his first request this upcoming trip in Sept. Older DS ruled over with Movies, due to this is his birthday trip.

We were in Baseball near the pool, 3rd story, towards the parking lot. Not much noise, but being a Mom I can sleep almost through anything, so no problems there.

Rooms, ok , since we only slept, showered and changed there (3 adults and 1 child). Bring your own soaps-shampoos just my suggestion. Clean, mousekeeping awesome.

Food court, ok, not bad. A bit crowded at times, but hey can only blame myself for going during the time everyone else wants dinner too.

Themeing, awesome for a Sports fan. Even though we were in Baseball, we hung around in Football Court. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!

Bus service...so-so. Lots of "groups" there. Going was ok, just loud, returning...a nightmare for tired folks, but do-able. Thank goodness FIRST stop!! 2 days we drove to parks.

Gift shop/store GREAT!! Awesome CM's!

Check in slow-half "interested" CM, check out not so good. No problems, just seemed like "My day isn't magical".

Love AS Sports. I highly recommend paying the extra $10 per night for the preferred room in the Surfs Up building. We stayed on the 2nd floor facing the pool and no problem with the noise. We were on/off the bus or in/out of the food court within a couple minutes. It is really close to the food court and bus stops. We really enjoyed it and would definately go back. :cool1:

I second this suggestion. We've stayed there the last 2 years, both times the week after the 4th of July. The extra $10 for the preferred room is WELL worth it. You're right next to the pool (we were 2nd story in 2003, ground floor in 2004, nice to be right on the bottom) and the foodcourt, and you're only about a 2 minute-walk to the bus stop, lobby, gift shop, etc..., so you're right in the middle of everything. Plus, you're real close to the parking lot, too, though we didn't get in our van from the moment we got there until we left!!

July brings a lot of groups, often from other countries. Last year, there were several groups of girls from South America. They all dressed alike, bicycle shorts and the same colored shirts every day. I think the bus transportation from the AS Sports is great - you're the first one picked up and the first one dropped off, so you get the best of both worlds. But be sure you beat the groups onto the bus. If you go early enough, you should beat them, b/c it tends to take a while for large groups to get going in the morning. We never saw them if we left the hotel by 8:30, but the couple mornings we left by 9 or so they made it in front of us in line, so that held us up. But if you beat the groups, bus service is SUPER!

Food court is great, enough selection for everyone to get what they want. Pricey, yeah, but what do you expect? Refillable mugs are good if you'll drink a lot from the food court, but we were never at the hotel, so we passed.

I've never been in the baseball pool, but the other pool (Surfboard Bay) is huge. Plenty of room for my kids, who were fairly new swimmers when we went the first time (7 and 4) to not have to be with the "big kids". The kids can get rowdy and loud at times - what do you expect? It is a family hotel! But we never had problems sleeping due to noise - we were so tired after our day at the parks that we could have slept on the ground!

Rooms are fine, nothing fancy but they suffice. You're never in them, right? At least we weren't - only for 8 hours to sleep at night! 2 beds, comfortable enough for us. Always had towels, clean sheets, room clean, surprises on bed, stuffed animals arranged, etc... No problems there, either year.

Would definitely recommend it if you are looking to stay on a budget. The less you spend on the hotel, the more you can spend elsewhere!

Daxx's wife here. We adore AS Sports. We've stayed 3 times over the last couple of years. We liked the Football area immensely! Nice and quiet as we were not courtside, but facing a tree-filled area. Nothing beats walking across that football field every morning, afternoon and evening. It's a great memory I'll always have. It's a nice distance between both pools -- the main pool and the quieter Goofy baseball pool.

We've stayed at Surf's Up (not facing the pool) and that was nice. But, I always got lost on my way to the room! We also stayed at Tennis, which was nice. We were in a courtyard area.

My favorite has and always will be the football section. Nothing like that spongy field under my feet as I head to my room or to the buses!

We loved the food court, gift shops, etc.!

Regardless of where you stay, have fun!

Me, too! We stayed in the football section during our first stay in '01. We were on the 2nd floor, facing the football field, and we never had any problems with noise.

We requested that section for out trip this past October. But, since we were arriving the weekend of the PGA golf tournament, things were pretty booked up, and we wound up in the Tennis section. We thought we were going to be way too far from everything (we were spoiled by the Football section), but we found a nice little path past the playground to get to the food court, etc., which wasn't very far at all. We have 2 small kids, so we spend a bit more time at the resort than some other folks do, and my son loved both the playground and the football field. :flower:
