I decided to stay at the All Star Sports Resort from 12/22-1/2/01. Our first night went well since we arrived a day early and were able to get a room that night and were able to stay there for the duration of our time.

However, after that it was total hell. To begin with, they put 32 basketball teams plus I don't know how many cheerleading teams, in the complex. These kids ran amok. They had no respect for anyone in the complex. I was cursed at, spit on, had vulgar comments made to myself and my kids, and no one responded to our complaints. Chairs were thrown into the pool area and no chaperones in sight to control these kids. Needless to say, I went to the front desk and complained numerous times, with no action taken and no one got back to me, until three days before I was to leave. I wad talking to a gentleman behind the bar at the All Star Sport and he told me that he would forward my complaint to someone. At 1:45AM (can you believe that), I got a manager calling me (because I was sleeping) I did not get his name. He told me that they could not ban the youths from the resort and that because they were so out of hand that night, extra security personnel had been placed on the grounds and kids were returned to their chaperones and hopefully the problem alleviated. He promised that someone from the managerial staff would call me the next day, but I am home now and still waiting for someone to call me.

We went to the Magic Kingdom on New Year's Eve, and guess what - the rowdy kids were there, jumping on the stages and mashing. One fell and cracked his head. After a while the DJ told them that they had to behave or security would be coming. These kids were out of control. At 9:30PM we called it quits and headed back to our room. So much for New Years Eve celebration and all the money we spent.

It is amazing that no one got back to us with our complaint. We have been to Disney numerous times with our families and friends, this was our second Christmas, and it was our worst experience. As a travel agency, I would not recommend anyone to this hotel and I told the staff this. It shocked me that if this was the way they treated an agent, what would they do with a cast.

I have been down there for the kids birthdays and whenever we mentioned it, they were wished a happy birthday and given some cakes during our meal reservations. This time nothing was ever done or said, even by the restaurant members or the hotel staff (normally they send the kids a little beanie and a signed card from a character). My son was totally disappointed and so was I.

As I said, this was our holiday from hell - first we were all sick, it was cold andd miserable, we lost our christmas gifts (and mean everything) and then we had to go out to buy gifts and try to get them all wrapped and no one could help us. Finally a cast member in the gift shop gave me numerous WDW plastic bags, where I put all the gifts into them, but I had no tape or any kind of string to tie them. My daughter went to the front desk to ask to borrow a pair of scissors, in order to cut up one of the bas and make ties with them, but we were told that they could not lend them to me. So, needless to say, it was a bummer all the way around.

One of the cast members at Peter Pan's Ride told my son to get "his little butt off the ride," since he could nor ride it alone with this sister. They had already done this earlier with no problem. Upon asking to speak with someone about this a manager came over to us and said that he thought it was just miscommunication and what would we like him to do.

I am not a WDW hater, have always stayed on sight and I will go back, hopefully not in December again and stay at a different hotel. Perhaps it will be a better experience.

I am so sorry you had a bad experience! Keep writing letters and making phone calls--you should be compensated for your troubles.
Did you happen to find out the sponsoring group for the teenagers at the All Star? If you did, you could contact the authorities with the school or organization. They should know that their students' actions were unacceptable.
I know all of this cannot give you back your vacation, but perhaps it will help!

find out what schools were down there and contact the people in charge. I went as a chaperone last year with a group of well behaved kids. But if I were around a bunch that weren't rest assured I would want to know. Our middle school has been banned from making trips to Charleston due to the bad behavior of one class. These kids need to be held accountable!!

I am sorry you had a bad trip and at Christmas time too. Keep trying to get satisfaction from WDW. Here's PD hoping your next trip is a great one!

Sorry - I was in Music at the exact same time - we did not have any of those problems. We had some bands, but they were so well behaved, and quiet that it was spooky. I used Gifts of a Lifetime for Christmas, and my gifts, next time, in a pinch, you might want to call them.

Sorry you had such a bad time. It sounds like everything that could go wrong for you did. I would have been irate if someone had spoken to my child in a vulgar manner. I would have demanded an apology to my child, his sibling, and his parents.

With the hotel situation I would have insisted on being transferred somewhere else, or have just found somewhere offsite to stay. I can't imagine the frustration of not being able to get in touch with anyone of a managerial level.

It seems that WDW management is going to have to crack down on balatantly boorish bahavior, especially in large groups of undersupervised young people, because they are developing a bad reputation because of it. I am amazed by behavior I've seen in my home town that some parents regard as OK simply because they are teens. Not my teens!

It seems that they were all placed into the "All Star Sports" because of the theme. No one did anything, they really didn't care. Even whenI identified myself as a travel agent. Nothing, they wouldn't give me names of teams - they are not allowed to do that they said. Just, that if they are caught misbehaving by their staff they are banned from coming again. To be told that we out extra security out tonight to combat their rowdiness was not enough. It really took away from the feeling of Disney being magical.

I will write and complaint. I would love Michael Eisner's address - if anyone knows where I can write him, please forward it to me. He's their head honcho.

When we asked for an apology for my child, we were told by a cast member, "We don't speak to children, only the parents or adult with them."

I don't know - it really sucked this time. I had never had such a bad experience.

What you have described is exactly the reason I will never stay at a bottom tier Disney Hotel (motel). These properties will attract persons such as you describe. I have stayed at DL several times (and almost all the expensive ones at least once) and have never had anything resembling such an experience as you had. DL is the best for the money in my opinion. I will continue to call it DL no matter what they call it now...

I am so sorry to hear that you had such a terrible experience at All Stars...Sounds like it went from bad to worse...I have never stayed at any of the All Stars, but my dad is a bus driver for Disney and he said that every All Star resort has LOTS of kids...and that is not a bad thing, I just won't stay there for that purpose...My kids are very well behaved and I couldn't imagine them running up and down the halls of a resort, but even when we stayed at CBR there were kids running all around, screaming and shouting even at six in the morning!! We stayed at WL before and had the best time there, but I suppose anywhere you stay, it is bound to happen...it is just too bad that nobody would listen to what you had to say...I hope your next trip is much more pleasurable!!

Were you at Magic Kingdom on New Year's Eve or at MGM? I heard there were DJ's and stages at MGM but not at MK. We had planned on spending next New Year's Eve at MK, so I want to be sure what to expect! Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences. For some reason we also found many of the MK castmembers to be apathetic and not in the Disney spirit.

Wow! I am sorry you had such a bad experience! That is heartbraking to spend that much time and effort (not to mention $$$$$$) and not have a WONDERFUL experience!!!!
I have always had GREAT luck at Disney as a travel agent. Do you have a good relationship with your Disney Rep? If so, I would contact her/him and ask them for advice. I would certianly follow up with someone at WDW!! Even if that is a Value property...you expect the BEST since it is a DISNEY property!!!! You have me a bit worried about our reservations at ASMo this May!!!!

GOOD LUCK and let us know how it turns out!!!!!

We spent New Year's Eve until 9:00 PM at MK. There were DJ stages set up throughout the park. I was with my children near the Space Mountain ride since we were waiting for the ride to be fixed (about two hours), in order to get on it. That was the one and only time we were able to get on it. I felt that my Disney trip this time around was a total waste of money. We spent $2,792 on hotel and passes and taxes (no air), plus another $4,000 in meals, merchandise, christmas gifts (since we lost ours) and shows. So it was a very expensive nightmare. I would love to go back and erase all these memories, but I am really afraid and it will be a couple of years before I brave another Disney trip.

I have two bookings that I am currently doing this weekend (total of 8 people) and I decided to send them to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas instead of Disney.

My letter to Disney is going out on Tuesday - certified receipt, return requested. I'll keep everyone posted of the response. I am also glad that I am not the only one to find the cast members less than friendly.

WOW!! This really surprises me!! We were at the MK on NYE and noticed no problems whatsoever and never ran across any stages,DJ's,or out-of-control teens!! I guess we were among the lucky ones!! Sorry you had such a terrible time!! I will definitely be spending every NYE at the MK!!

So sorry to hear abut your experiences while at Disney. Hopefully you will hear something from Disney. This is unacceptable.

I have never stayed at any of the All Star Resorts. After reading your report...thinks me never want too...If management could do nothing about this problem. I think I'll stay clear of All Stars.

Thanks for posting this report. Its important to hear about the Good, the Bad and the Ugly about Disney. We all hear and read about everyones Pixie Dust Trip. I'm sure there wasn't much Pixie Dust on this trip. I sure hope Disney corrects this wrong for you. Keep us posted as to the outcome. Thanks again.

Finally heard back from Disney Executive Offices (Mr. Parris) who was not superfriendly and this is what they had to say. Since I told them that my kids were 8 and 10 and for whatever reason the bookign agent had put down 7-8 (perhaps she got confused when I was telling her that my son would be celebrating his 8th birthday there and that we had taken my daughter down for her 8th, I had lied about their ages and therefore, they were sorry but nothing would be done. They believed that I lied and that I should have looked at my documents and checked the ages of the kids. Believe me, it was something that I didn't double check, just looked to see the names were correct and that there were four of us. They basiclly accused me of lying also, since I told them that I had a 20 yr. old who met us there (only for two dinner shows and we went to park),k she was there with family and friends prior to our arrival, so they said that I violated the fire rules for having her in the room. They assumed this, eventhough I explained to them that she was 20, with her own friends and just met us for dinner on her brother's birthay and at the Backyard BBQ. I guess you can't go to Disney and meet other family and members - I didn't know that this was against the rules.
They said that since my daughter was 10 and not 8, they had charged me as a child, not a junior. I asked them what the difference in price was as I was willing to give them this difference, evn though this was through no fault of mine, and they said it was approximately $90. I offered to send them a check and they said no, but they would still not do anything for us, just they were sorry for the inconvenience.

All in all, they don't care but they hope that I return again. I am totally disenchanted with Disney.
